An anthology of three short stories about mildly erotic romance with cops.
The Stories
Maya Banks' Soul Possession is a warm, sweet threesome. Truitt and Rick, detectives and partners are both attracted to Jessie. Neither is willing to give way to the other so they've been teasing and flirting with Jessie for some time about her coming home with both of them. Then Jessie is implicated in a murder and the guys quickly freeze up on her.

M/F/M story
I am a big fan of Maya Banks so I was excited to dive into this anthology. I have to be honest and say, out of the 3 stories, Soul Possession was my least favourite.
Poor Jessie had a rough night. Fired from her waitress job after being accused of stealing, her bum knee acts up, she is whisked away from the bar by two gorgeous cops for a threesome and the next day is brought into t...more

Soul Possession by Maya Banks - This story seriously disappointed me. I didn't like the threesome aspect of the story. Truitt and Rick have been frequenting a bar where Jessie is a waitress for a few weeks. After a couple of weeks of seeing her at work and minimal conversation, they both want her and after one night with her, they both develop feelings for Jessie. I know that this is a novella and that the plot has to progress quickly, but I did not find it believable. And then to throw into the...more
This anthology really didn't do it for me. =(
Soul Possession – Maya Banks
Jessie spends a hot night with two sexy-as-sin detectives, only to be accused of murder the very next day. But when Jessie becomes the target of a serial killer, her two detectives will risk everything to have her back in their arms—and in their bed.

Before reading this book, I had only read one other book by Karin Tabke, which I thought was decent. Sylvia Day and Maya Banks are two of my, maybe not FAVORITE, but definitely more reliable authors. Their books are usually intriguing and sexy with deliciously tough heroes.
This book totally fell flat for me, though. I already knew going in that I wouldn't be thrilled simply because it's an anthology of "novellas" which are shorter than a normal book... therefore the stories are usually lacking i...more

Favorite Quote: Hell, she had no idea what she was going to do with all this cock but she was sure as hell going to have a good time figuring it out.
Rick and Truitt have been partners in the police force for a long time. They are currently deeply involved in a serial killer case. Someone has been kidnapping women, only to let them go and then hunt them in the woods. Needing to let some stress out, they have decided tonight is the night they are going to take home the...more

This is a hard book to rate. As a whole, it was just okay. There were some interesting /fun parts, but it was a little too predictable.
Maya Banks's Soul Possession was written well, as most of her work is. However, the relationship between the three main characters was kinda campy. I'm not sure "campy" is the best word to describe it, but it's the only thing that comes to mind. The romance was so sweet...too sweet in my opinion. Sorry, it's not my cup of tea. It doesn't say anything at all about Ms. Banks' writing. It's just me.
Wanted:
DNF either
Sorry, but this time it's the writing that didn't work for me. The way some of the dialogues/scenes went, it felt like I was missing a page the way it jumps.

I'm not usually a big erotica fan, nor am I a huge fan of contemporary novels, and I think my lack of interest in both has ultimately affected the grading of these three pieces. I like to encourage people to take reviews lightly and to form their own opinions about books, and I really want to reinforce this now.

Maya Banks is a favorite author of mine, which is why I'm surprised I didn't connect with this story as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong it was hot, and the plot is ok, but there was no connection for me with the characters.

In Maya Banks’s Soul Possession, we have Rick and Truitt two police detectives who have been working to find a serial killer. They stop into a bar quite often after work and have been trying to get Jessie (a waitress who works there) to go home with them. Jesse has had a rough life. She was in a car accident 2 years before that did alot of damage to her leg and shattered her knee. After a bad night of being accused of stealing money from the bar and being fired she caves in and goes home with th...more
I really wish I could give this antho a better rating, but I just can't. All three stories were predictable, and two were very similar. Out of the three, Sylvia Day's was the best, IMO. I've never read Ms. Day's work before, though I've wanted to, and I will definitely try another of her books. I'm sure this antho will sell well, but as a fan of Maya Banks, particularly, I was disappointed. Just my opinion - others will probably love the stories.
Three quick novellas I only picked up because of Maya Banks name on it. WOW..her first short threw me off a bit. A pretty aggressive threesome that I way didn't expect from reading her KGI series. ALl three were pretty much just short excuses for writing some graphic sex scenes not much character or plot development but was a quick guilty pleaseure oce I realized that I really wasn't going to much "story" from them.

As a whole this book was great. The best story by far was Banks. It was well written and felt like a complete story. I loved the story and how Rick and Truitt won the heart and body of Jessie. I have to admit that I don't care for Karin Tabke's writing. I've tried more then once to read books by her but can't get into them. Day's story was enjoyable too. I liked the characters and how there story panned out.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME...me personally I think handling only 1 man at a time, is more then enough for me however, these stories definitely shed light on the trysts of 2 or more and make life, entertaining for awhile.. a must read for your Erotica collection and it wont stay on your bookshelf for long, as all your girlfriends will want to read it too...way spicier then "50 Shades of Gray" for sure!!!
Two out of three isn't bad, for good stories that is.
I liked the Banks story. I am not sure that I would have been as forgiving as Jessie, the guys did diss her pretty good after pursuing her for a while. I did love how she was able to beat the big bag guy, who was a surprise for me.
Tabke's story fell very flat for me. I had a hard time buying into any relationship between these two, let alone the one they had and the time lines they encountered. I also thought the hero was an ass, from the way...more

Three novellas. I LOVED Soul Possesion by Maya Banks and Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day. But could not get into Wanted by Karin Tabke.
That's why it isn't all five stars, if it was just Soul Possession and Taking the Heat then it would be five stars. Great read. Gritty, intense and good plots... almost sad they were novellas instead of full novels themselves, could definitely had read more.

Since I love Sylvia Day's books so much I just had to get this book and it didn't disappoint! There are 3 novella's (each take an hour or two to read). They are definitely Adult themed books! Great read for an afternoon in the sun (or by the fire!).

All three stories were really good, different in their own way, BUT connected by the men all being a part of an elite police team in their respective stories. Not one of the heroines were whiny 'oh rescue me' babies. Which, saying that I have become tired of that story line is an understatement.
Not one typo/editing issue in either story.

3 very enjoyable short stories/novellas where the male love interests all work in some sort of law enforcement field.
Each story pulled me in quickly, all with good plots. Plenty of action in and out of the bedroom.
Other reviews here provide sufficient details about each story. First story longest of the three.

Review coming but preview.
Maya Banks - I actually liked this story. It seemed to me the best intertwined with the romance and the suspense.
Karin Tabke - Nice story but there was this big build up for this confrontation and when it happened it was like 'is that it'
Sylvia Day - Nice story but where is the suspense. Wasn't any.

I really liked the writing in these three short novellas. Although if I have any complaints it is that they were too short. I wanted more plot and character development.
There was a good amount of sex scenes and hot ones to boot! The writing was great too with a touch of intrigue that kept this reader turning the pages.
4 out of 5 for these reasons.

Maya Banks' story was just okay. Meh. It was also the first.
Karin Tabke's was a little bit better in terms of heat.
But what really did it for me was the final story in this novella.
Wow. Freaking. Wow. Hmmmm Hmmmm GOOD.
Will definitely be checking out other works by that author.
Sylvia Day had me at U.S Marshall. Unf.

All three stories were satisfying and did not leave me wanting more or feeling that something was missing. Maya Bank's story is a menage and she does writes it so well! Karen Tabke and Sylvia Day are new authors for me so I will definitely check out their books.
