Maya Banks starts this anthology off with a bang, throwing you right into the burning fires of passion. Soul Possession was hot hot hot, but the relationship aspect of the story was a bit unbelievable to me. These two alpha men want Jessie for themselves, are each possessive of her, but decide that they can share her with each other. The sharing just didn’t jive with their characters and I didn’t see how a happy future was possible for the three of them together. The suspense was interesting, with a few twists thrown in, but due to the novella length maybe, I didn’t feel that it reached its full potential. At least, what I’ve come to expect from Maya Banks. Overall though, Rick and Truit were sexy as all get out and it was still a good little read that had me fired up for the rest of the anthology.

This was my first taste of Karin Tabke’s work, though I have read her series under Karin Harlow, and wow - am I craving some more now! Despite being only a little over 100 pages, Wanted was bursting with romance, action and suspense. I really enjoyed this pair reuniting and getting to delve into each of their characters. Both have some tragedy and insecurities to deal with but they bring the best out in each other, not to mention their sizzling attraction and how Colin is smokin' hot! *fans self* A great read!

Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day
This was my favorite story out of the anthology! Layla Creed has been in witness protection, given a whole new life and identify for the murders she witnessed, but it is time to come out of hiding and take the stand against the man who killed her friend and protector. Federal Marshal Brian Simmons fills in for the assignment and walks into a disaster when he goes to pick Layla up. The man Layla is set to testify against does not want her making it to California and will do anything to stop her but Brian will put his life on the line before he lets anything happen to the woman he loved and let walk away five years ago.

I absolutely loved this story of second chances! Taking the Heat was filled with danger, excitement and raw passion. The chemistry between Layla and Brian was intense, bursting through the pages, and the sex scenes out of this world. The reconnecting of this pair tugged on my heart strings as they worked out their misunderstandings and insecurities over their past relationship, hoping to build a solid foundation for a new one within three days. With a full and vivid plot, relatable and sex-ay characters and a humorous and naughty dialogue - this was one story that I did not want to end!

A super sexy anthology by three awesome, must-read authors about strong, feisty women determined to get those spectacularly sexy men out of their uniforms and into their beds for good!

He’s supposed to be protecting her while transporting her from a safe house. Layla used to have friends and a normal life; now she’s on the run with the one man she’s been trying to forget assigned to protect her.

Taking the Heat is a fast-paced, action-packed story. Brian is tough but soft hearted, he does his job very well and has a loyalty that goes deep down to his core. Layla is sweet and a bit innocent, but is by no means a pushover. She too has a big heart and is very loyal. Together these two are really a great couple, and I will have a hard time forgetting them any time soon.

Overall, this anthology, Men Out Of Uniform is very well done. Each story has a main theme which blends well with the other stories in the book. Each story has a unique plot line as well, and each author has a really well written, remarkable story. I am going to keep this anthology on my keeper shelf when I want some stories about sexy men protecting the women they love.(less)

It's cute with a very reluctant witness falling in love with Daniels and desperate to escape him.

Sylvia Day's Taking the Heat finds Deputy U.S. Marshall Brian Simmons running from a grenade attack just as the protected witness, Layla Creed, is about to slide into one of the Chevy Suburbans. This was sweet with a strong message to accept realizing how important it is to have ties with family no matter who they are.

The Cover
I don't know many situations where a black jean-clad cop wearing motorcycle boots and sunglasses would be shirtless while kneeling on the pavement sliding a round into his gun, handcuffs tucked into his belt but I certainly haven't any objections when they're as muscled as this one!

The title is very accurate as all three cops are Men Out of Uniform.(less)

Wanted by Karin Tabke - I really liked this one. I loved the history between Colin and Sophia. Colin is a very sexy hero and is not the whoring douche that people thinks he is. There's more to him that meets the eye and you see a different side of him when he's around Sophia. The story was very sexy and hot and the plot was great and full of action. I didn't feel like anything was missing. This story could have easily been a full-length novel because there was so much going on.

Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day - My favorite story. I loved Brian and Layla's chemistry. It was off the charts. Brian is a dirty talker and is commanding in bed. He's not afraid of expressing what he wants. This novella had some of the best lines that made me giggle and the best sex scenes that made me grab a towel to sit on. Brian and Layla never stopped loving each other and both want to use the 3 day trip to clear out any misunderstandings. At times Layla comes off as immature but she is 6 years younger than Brian so she doesn't have the life experience that Brian has. I liked that she didn't wallow in her self-pity and they both owned up to their mistakes. I absolutely loved their story and I didn't want it to end.

Before reading this book, I had only read one other book by Karin Tabke, which I thought was decent. Sylvia Day and Maya Banks are two of my, maybe not FAVORITE, but definitely more reliable authors. Their books are usually intriguing and sexy with deliciously tough heroes.

Very similar to the previous story: tough agent risks his life and career to protect exgirlfriend who is in witness protection program and now has to testify against the criminals who are after her. They have three days in which she is out of the witness protection and he needs to bring her safely across the country to the trial where she will be the key witness in putting away leaders of a Mexican drug cartel. Their nights are spent in "rekindling their romance" while during the day they are already pining after each other since they will get sepparated in 3 days, when she goes back to the witness protection and changes her identity forever, never to see him again... This is a hard book to rate. As a whole, it was just okay. There were some interesting /fun parts, but it was a little too predictable.

Maya Banks's Soul Possession was written well, as most of her work is. However, the relationship between the three main characters was kinda campy. Maya Banks is a favorite author of mine, which is why I'm surprised I didn't connect with this story as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong it was hot, and the plot is ok, but there was no connection for me with the characters.

We have Jessie Callahan, a waitress at a bar where two HOT cops have been hanging out for a while now. Rick and Truitt are partners and when they first see Jessie they're both extremely attracted to her. So they decide to share her and they've been trying for a long time now to flirt and get her to go home with both of them.

Things come to a head when she gets fired, they have one HOT night together, and then everything goes to hell. Someone turns up dead, there's a serial killer on the loose, and Truitt and Rick decide they want to be in a relationship with her, yes, at the same time.

I didn't like the resolution of the serial killer story, it felt a bit rushed and incomplete. The sex is as usual hot, obviously be prepared for menage, and everything it entails. ;) Steamy, and it worked for me!

This was my favorite story of this anthology. Don't ask me why, but it was extremely hot, sensual, the characters worked well together. I think especially because they had a history together. One thing I didn't necessarily get was how it was so difficult for him to find her all those years ago when he was supposedly in love.

So Sophia gives her virginity to Colin, the popular jock, the night of his graduation. She's been in love with him forever. After that her family gets threatened and she has to marry a mobster and pretty much has disappeared since. But she never forgot Colin.

Now she's on the run from her husband, who has a price on her head so she won't testify against him. Colin, a detective now, is sent to escort her back to New York so she can testify an din the meantime has to protect her.

There's enough action in this book, and both kinds of it. Very steamy... on the floor, in the bathtub, on the bed. Everywhere!

Layla Creed is in the witness protection program because she has to testify to bring down a cartel. On a recent trip to Mexico with her friend, they ran into trouble and where in the middle of cartel business.

After an attempt on her life she ends up with a most unexpected person protecting her. Brian Simmons. Her brothers best friend and the man she fell in love with at 16. He is also the man she left because she couldn't deal with him putting his life in danger for his career.

Brian has never let go of his love for Layla and now wants nothing but keep her with him, but first he will have to keep her safe from some very important people that need her dead.

These two have chemistry. They know each others' bodies very well and from the get-go they knew and accepted the fact that while he's protecting her they would be together.

I wish I had read some other Shadow Stalkers books as I would've liked some background into other characters we see in this book, but the main one I liked was Rachel, and how she showed Layla how she could be ok with being with Brian, dangerous career and all.

Another hot story with a little bit less action during the whole story, but plenty of it under the covers.

I really wish I could give this antho a better rating, but I just can't. All three stories were predictable, and two were very similar. Out of the three, Sylvia Day's was the best, IMO. I've never read Ms. Day's work before, though I've wanted to, and I will definitely try another of her books. I'm sure this antho will sell well, but as a fan of Maya Banks, particularly, I was disappointed. Just my opinion - others will probably love the stories.

Three quick novellas I only picked up because of Maya Banks name on it. WOW..her first short threw me off a bit. A pretty aggressive threesome that I way didn't expect from reading her KGI series. ALl three were pretty much just short excuses for writing some graphic sex scenes not much character or plot development but was a quick guilty pleaseure oce I realized that I really wasn't going to much "story" from them.

As a whole this book was great. The best story by far was Banks. It was well written and felt like a complete story. I loved the story and how Rick and Truitt won the heart and body of Jessie. I have to admit that I don't care for Karin Tabke's writing. I've tried more then once to read books by her but can't get into them. Day's story was enjoyable too. I liked the characters and how there story panned out.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME...me personally I think handling only 1 man at a time, is more then enough for me however, these stories definitely shed light on the trysts of 2 or more and make life, entertaining for awhile.. a must read for your Erotica collection and it wont stay on your bookshelf for long, as all your girlfriends will want to read it too...way spicier then "50 Shades of Gray" for sure!!!

Since I love Sylvia Day's books so much I just had to get this book and it didn't disappoint! There are 3 novella's (each take an hour or two to read). They are definitely Adult themed books! Great read for an afternoon in the sun (or by the fire!).

All three stories were really good, different in their own way, BUT connected by the men all being a part of an elite police team in their respective stories. Not one of the heroines were whiny 'oh rescue me' babies. Which, saying that I have become tired of that story line is an understatement.

3 very enjoyable short stories/novellas where the male love interests all work in some sort of law enforcement field.

Each story pulled me in quickly, all with good plots. Plenty of action in and out of the bedroom.

Other reviews here provide sufficient details about each story. First story longest of the three.

Maya Banks - I actually liked this story. It seemed to me the best intertwined with the romance and the suspense.
Karin Tabke - Nice story but there was this big build up for this confrontation and when it happened it was like 'is that it'
Sylvia Day - Nice story but where is the suspense. Wasn't any.

What a great collection of stories!! Usually there is at least one dud in these types of books but this one was packed full of action & romance the whole way thru with a heavy dose of kink =)

Recommend for all my friends.

Anthology with Men out of uniforms, if you want some steamy Alpha males about to serve and protect, this one is for you!
Maya Bank´s Soul Possession, Jessie finally gives in to a night with two hot men and the promise of smexin all night long. Come morning, though, she´s facing the threat of losing them. Threesome and smutty fluff.
Sylvia Day´s Taking the heat, Layla entered witness protection and lost contact with Brian, now they´re back together for a few days, will he give her up again?

I really liked the writing in these three short novellas. Although if I have any complaints it is that they were too short. I wanted more plot and character development.

There was a good amount of sex scenes and hot ones to boot! The writing was great too with a touch of intrigue that kept this reader turning the pages.

4 out of 5 for these reasons.

Maya Banks' story was just okay. Meh. It was also the first.

Karin Tabke's was a little bit better in terms of heat.

But what really did it for me was the final story in this novella.
Wow. Freaking. Wow. Hmmmm Hmmmm GOOD.
Will definitely be checking out other works by that author.
Sylvia Day had me at U.S Marshall. Unf.

Shelves: cops, anthology, mf, mfm, contemp

All three stories were satisfying and did not leave me wanting more or feeling that something was missing. Maya Bank's story is a menage and she does writes it so well! Karen Tabke and Sylvia Day are new authors for me so I will definitely check out their books.
