I really enjoyed Beacon's writing, for the most part. It was fun and light, with excellent use of Regency romance vocab and very few annoying verbal tics (the two main ones being the overuse of the word 'houri' and odd choice of moments to list out the hero's and others' full names). However, the story had a lot of weaknesses. The supposed past conflict between the hero and heroine was endlessly referred to, but never really explained. more 3 1/2 star. i just wished the hero would at times ease up on the heroine - regardless of the past.
