LOVE!The great thing about A Touch Morbid is it actually does what a sequel should. It continues the story line while developing the characters and giving the reader new insight into the MC’s mind and the mind of the other characters that you have loved in the first book. An added PoV for one of Eden’s gang was added and learning more about that boy and his own internal struggles made me love the book even more.

Same bat problems, same bat channel but with twisty bits. Everything we thought we kn...more

Everything is in chaos. Everything is falling apart. And everyone is in even more danger than they were before the events that got them to this point.

Luke wants revenge and those who acted against him will have to pay for what they did.

Kristen is coming apart at the seams. With no one she feels she can trust, turning to Luke for help seems like her only option.

Eden is suffering in silence, keeping secrets from Az that could be devastating to them both.

Az and Gabe are battling their own demons. F...more

A Touch Morbid is the amazing sequel to one of my favorite 2011 reads, A Touch Mortal. This time the stakes are higher, the world is darker, and dun dun dun: CLIFFHANGER! :flings self off cliff:

I had a hard time writing the review for A Touch Morbid. I loved it a lot, and I didn’t want to ramble like I did with my review of the first book. So after I finished ATM2, I didn’t write a review for a few weeks. I was scared to say anything because I hadn’t re...more

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales.

Quick & Dirty: About a hundred pages shorter than A Touch Mortal, this sequel is a cliff-hanger with the same drawbacks as book one — but it does leave you excited for the final installment.

Opening Sentence: When the kitten broke out of the shadows in front of Gabe, he’d though it was a rat until he heard the pathetic mewling.

The Review:

Clifford takes a standard paranormal theme — Angels — and makes sure to run as far away from the stereotype as she can....more

Cover:

From the green highlights in the girl's hair, to her popping purple lips, I think this cover is amazing, and definitely an eye catcher; purely amazing!

My Thoughts:

Come to think of it, I've really been into reading about angels! It's probably just another one of my many, phases I go through. First Unearthly, who's review will be up soon, and now A Touch Morbid.

This book wasn't originally on my TBR for April, but when I received it in the mail from Me, My Shelf and I, for one of her book tou...more

Picking up where A Touch Mortal left off, Eden and Az are dealing with the fall of Gabriel, searching desperately for him every night. They are not the only ones searching, either. Kristen's schizophrenia is creeping back and without Gabe to help her escape, she faces the temptation of running to Luke for help before she goes completely mad. In order to find Gabe, Eden strikes a bargain to eliminate a Sider who has been dealing Touch like a drug, and she must decide whether she is willing to tak...more

OK...I admit I had my doubts going into the second novel because I was simply SO disturbed by the cavalier way these "divine beings" were treating mortals. Maybe for me the "rules" in which the factions of Upstairs and Downstairs operate seem lax. Where angels can commit "flagrant fouls" so to speak and be put in a kind of eternal penalty box. Free will and choice play a major part, but at some point all the choices seem to be poor ones.

I had trouble getting hooked into the novel until about mid...more

I can't believe it ended like that and I'll have to wait a year to find out what's going to happen now. Eden seems doomed either way. Az is now stuck where he is. I'm not sure how Gabe can help now. It seems like a lose-lose situation to me. Seriously, I like this series. It keeps me on the edge. But it bugs the hell out of me that these people don't just tell each other what's going on. They keep making all of their situations worse by not speaking up. The only one who seems like he might get t...more

A Touch Morbid is as dark and sexy as A Touch Mortal promised it to be. Eden gets a new look with green replacing the pink highlight and her new pixie-ish haircut, and Az is back in her life. However, they have both suffered heavy losses in their face-off against Luke. They need each other more than ever now in these uncertain times.

One big difference from book one is that there aren't time skips. The second is that Jarrod and Kristen have become narrators as well. Jarrod's relationship with a m...more

I want to like this series. I really, really do! Unfortunately, I had the same reaction to this book as I did the first one. It was waay too confusing. Once again, the names of the different groups of people was never explained. I was just supposed to know, or remember, who everyone was. And I was supposed to remember what happened in the last book. There was no refresher at all. And since I read it over a year ago, and more than 100 books, ago, I had no clue. So I was really lost this time.

I without a doubt loved this book! Despite any confusion I had with the first one!
Throughout this whole book even ever I thought about Gabe I was a big mess of snot and tears, I know lovely picture right?! I love a book that can do that!

My heart absolutely aches for Eden and Az, and all they have to go through. These two have already been through so much, why can't they just be happy together?
After reading A Touch Mortal I,m hoping they are going to continue with the series, cause I'm not...more

Gabriel has Fallen. Az is on the edge of Falling. Siders are dealing out Touch to mortals. Eden is turning to ashes. Even though Eden saved Az from Luke things aren't picture perfect, far from it. Every single day is a struggle to Az, who's on the brink of Falling. It could be the mention of Gabe's name or someone yelling at Eden that could push him over the brink. Kristen can't survive without Gabe and not knowing truth about Gabe's Fall isn't helping her emotions. So she turns to the only othe...more

After reading A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford, I couldn’t wait for A Touch Morbid. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on an ARC that I whipped through in one day. Leah is an author who can weave the dark-side beautifully with all the chills and wiggens while still maintaining a sense of hope and wonder.

I adored the characters in A Touch Morbid! Even bad boy Luke a.k.a Lucifer has a side to him that is ultra-appealing despite the fact that he is, indeed, the devil. He’s the dud...more

A Touch Morbid continues were the first book ends pretty much. This book is hard to review without spoilers so if you haven't read the first book do so. Eden has her love Az at her side but it has come at a price. They can not kiss but they can't stay away either. Gabe seems to be lost to everyone and they all want to know where is with a few people questioning what happened to him. Kristen especially needs to find Gabe. Eden seems to be getting ill and tries to hide it from Az. Now on top of th...more

Oh wow..... I like this book. It's weird, like a goth weird kindda story but it's very filling. It's filled wth amazement, weird happenings that made me want to read more to know what it actually is....it's a really interesting book. Different fr the usual angel, necromancer type book that I've read before. Good kinda different :)

I also love the wriitng approach, featuring almost all the characters in the story in every chapter and frankly I love all the characters, yeah even Luke... he's dark se...more

Alright, first things first. Leah Clifford has managed to make me crush on evil incarnate. That’s something I just never really expected from myself. I even showered in holy water after finishing this book, but my crush on Luke still lingers. Thanks, Leah. *sigh*

In Six Words:

did not live up to expectations

Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
There were two main reasons I did not like this book : (1) It had been far too long since I read the first in the series and I did not have take the time to reread it. (2) The main character lost her umpf.

Let’s take it back a step… I really enjoyed the first in this series. I thought the characters had depth and a sense of realism that made the mythology work. I’m not a huge fan of angel themed YA books,...more

Update: Originally read Jan 5-11, 2012- Reread Feb 1-4 2013 in anticipation of reading the final installment A Touch Menacing. Worth the reread! I love these characters so much! I'm so excited to dig into the last book and I'm so scared of where Leah Clifford is going to take it!

I really enjoyed reading this sequel. I liked how it picked up where A Touch Mortal left off, or so it seems.

Some things that I liked about this book were that Eden changed her hair color according to what she looks like on the cover of the book. I liked that Gabe isn't really present throughout the entire book, it gives the vibe that he is gone, that he is truly fallen to side of evil even though he tries to resist the urges. I enjoyed reading that Eden's new problem since she stopped killing t...more

A Touch Morbid was fast-paced filled with tons of surprises. We get more knowledge about Siders, the Bound, and the Fallen. Also, we find out what happens when Eden doesn’t kill Siders. It's only bad things. And want to know what else? A lot of sacrifices. You grow on a character and then they disappear. It's hurts. It really hurts. Why, Leah, why?!

Proceed with caution. There are spoilers. If you haven’t read A Touch Mortal, then don’t continue. However, if you are curious like most are, then by...more

Talk about an amazing sequel. Leah Clifford's follow-up to A Touch Mortal was absolutely brilliant. Fast-paced and fantastic, A Touch Morbid is a delightful and amazing book. Definitely one of my favorites of the year!

Eden is one my favorite characters of all time. So much that I even featured her in a Top Ten Tuesday post. Clifford did an amazing job at developing her character even more. I absolutely adored seeing Eden grow ever stronger, and believe me, if you thought Eden was tough and fierc...more

Leah Clifford awed readers with her fresh and original idea in her debut, A Touch Mortal. Her awesome storyline is back for another ride in A Touch Morbid. Gabe is now Fallen, and everyone needs his good-guy personality back. Az is about to Fall without his best friend there to save him from it. Eden is terribly sick, but unsure why since she cannot die (or can she?). Kristin makes a new alliance that turns into an unexpected romance that she is not ready for. Gabe needs to come back from the da...more

When I read the first book, A Touch Mortal, last year; I fell in love. It was one of my top favorite books last year. It's taken me a while to finally grab a copy of this at the library, and I'm so mad for it! Though I didn't love A Touch Morbid as much as the first book, I still really liked it and I am still absolutely in love with this series.

The writing is amazing and flows extremely well and when I did have th...more

I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of A Touch Morbid, the sequel to last year's A Touch Mortal, at BEA this year. I really enjoyed A Touch Mortal and I love that Leah Clifford lives very close to where I grew up. Here's the Goodreads blurb:

It is rare that I like a second book in a trilogy more than the first, but Leah Clifford raised the stakes in A Touch Morbid and I was absolutely captivated. Once I started, I simply could not put it down, and I read straight through in just over 2 hours. What is big and awesome in A Touch Mortal only gets better in this installment of the characters' story.

I love the characters. The characters of this trilogy are so unique, and they all are very different from one another. Eden was one characte...more

This book was amazing! I can't even describe how much I missed Eden and co!

So, let me first start off by saying I was surprised, not in a good or bad way, that Fuck was not used in the book until page 74. Compared to A Touch Mortal, that is significantly fewer swears!

Gabe was struggling in this book with the identity he kind of lost at the end of Mortal, but that man is a genius when it comes to preparation! His entire journey as one of the Fallen was just to fulfill this super-sneaky plan to sa...more

This book is a continuation of the Touch Mortal series. Eden and Az are circling each other, unable to kiss, but still desperately in love. Kristen has fallen into the depths of her schizophrenia, emerging into sanity often, but having trouble maintaining it. Gabe is "off" due to his newly Fallen status. The characters as a whole are in disarray with Eden in particular withholding a dangerous secret from Az.

The plot of the novel is roughly the same as the first book, the reader will learn more a...more
