During ‘World Book Day’ in my recent placement, I wanted to read my Y2 class a book that I knew would they would enjoy and spark some creativity; hence choosing this book.
The book is full of vibrant illustrations which really capture the text. It tells the story of how dinosaurs became extinct, “Dinosaurs were all wiped out, a long way back in history, no one knows quite how or why, now this book solves the mystery…”
It goes on to let us know that caveman decided to start wearing underpants to...more

One would think that any story that included underpants and dinosaurs would be a winner with kids, especially boys. For the kids at my story time, this just wasn't so. The book begins:
Dinosaurs were all wiped out,
A long way back in history,
No one knows quite how or why,
This book solves the mystery...
In this follow-up to the award-winning Aliens Love Underpants, Claire Freedman attempted to write another fun underpants story, but the story simply felt forced. The rhymes often did not flow, not ro...more

“Dinosaurs Love Underpants” is about how exactly the dinosaurs became extinct. It puts a funny twist on the fact that dinosaurs no longer exist. The book’s theory goes like this. The cavemen invented underpants so they would no longer be naked. Well, the dinosaurs saw the new invention and got jealous. They wanted to have some underpants too. They took the cavemen’s underpants, but they obviously did not fit. The dinosaurs then started fighting over the underpants. They fought so fiercely that i...more

I saw this book in my local library and couldn’t resist picking it up, the humor in the title and the cover illustration caught my attention.

It's not my usual genre - but I have young kids.
My son is four, and a dinosaur and car fanatic; but he's not huge into fiction as he likes to know the facts and stare at pictures. As you can guess, that does not leave a lot of fun reading for mommy.
The story is cute, fast passed due to it's being short on words, and heavy on rhymes. In Dr. Seuss fashion it gives a tiny moral to the whole story, making it a fun book to use to encourage getting kids to keep the undies on (maybe if you're in the "...more

When I read Alien’s Love Underpants, I knew it sounded familiar… that was because, when I raided the boys bookshelfs, I discovered Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman & Ben Cort. This is another book purchased during my boys dinosaur obsession phase. The combination of dinosaurs and underpants, how could a Mum of boys go past this book?

I chose this book when I was in Reception during book week because I thought it would really appeal to the boys, which it did. They thought it was hilarious!
This book has lovely vibrant illustrations which really match the text. It is the story of how the dinosaurs became extinct, when the caveman decided to start wearing underpants the mean T-Rex wanted a pair too. Soon all the dinosaurs were fighting over their pants - in fact the fighting got so bad that the dinosaurs were all wiped out.

Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedom delivers what you would imagine it would from the title, it is a fun, short story about just what happens when Dinosaurs discover underpants. I first came across this book when working in the Early Years Foundation Stage. It is a beautifully illustrated courtesy of award winning illustrator Ben Cort, the illustrations work effortlessly to bring the story to life. This has to be one of the most popular stories I have read to children, they were always a...more

What killed the dinosaurs? Volcanic eruption? Climate change? Asteroid impact? Nahhhh. It was underpants.
Yup. This little book solves the eons-old mystery: it was underwear what did the dinos in.
It all started when cavemen got embarrassed by being naked all the time. They fashioned themselves some nifty underpants, which would have solved the problem entirely were it not for the greedy T-Rex, who saw them and wanted some undies of his own. Poor cavemen are running for their lives and the T-Rex s...more

Dinosaurs love underpants, and so do my kindergarten, first and second graders. When talking about this book with one of my student's parents, she relayed a story about him putting on 15 pairs of underpants one day.
The poetry isn't great, the scientist in me twitches at the idea of dinosaurs living at the same time as people, but the enjoyment factor of my kids? Exponential. When the kiddo who can barely last 10 minutes with me doing ANYTHING sits still for 20 minutes, ask and answers questions...more

I loved loved loved this book! I purchased it through the Scholastic book catalog at my daughter's school. My children love the silly story and laugh at the humorous pictures.
Dinosaurs Love Underpants is a feast for both the eyes and the ears. Bright and colorful illustrations are bountiful in this quick, smartly rhyming story. Children and adults alike will be charmed by the unlikely demise of the dinos.

I loved using this book in my classroom. This is a great way to get students excited about reading the book. This is a great book to use for children who are not confident in their reading, and who enjoy science. It gives them a chance to look closely at the pictures. It also uses rhyming words and descriptive language. It is a great way to integrate science into your lesson as well. It works well for ESOL students because there are not that many words but the pictures are descriptive so the chi...more
Cute book! This is definately something children would love to listen to, but be ready for the giggles. The word underpants will be sure to set them off. Tie that in with pictures of cavemen, dinosaurs, and undies and they will have a field day. This book is also good to use for a lesson on rhyming. Every other line ends with words that rhyme. So if you are looking for an attention getter, or a great activating strategy for a language arts lesson in rhyming words, this is a nice choice. The fact...more

This is such a wonderful book to read aloud in your classroom. This book is about dinosaurs taking underpants from cavemen and finding the history of the underpants. Even though there are not many words, the illustrations capture the students so they stay engaged throughout the entire story. This would be great book to talk about rhyming words by having the students pick out words that rhyme. Also, being able to integrate science into your reading time is a great way to teach two things at once.
Have you ever wondered how dinosaurs became extinct? Well I can tell you that after reading this book, they became extinct after a great briefs(underwear) tug of war. The cavemen discovered the briefs and the dinosaurs were jealous. The acquired some and soon began to fight each other until they were all extinct!I have had this book in a prek class and it was a major hit. The kids will really enjoy the silliness and rhyme of this story. I recommend this book for prek through 1st grade
I just LOVED this book!! The story was a little rough, but funny and I think any child who loves dinosaurs will read the story. The theme is: The cavemen decided they wanted to wear underpants because they felt embarressed and crude in the nude. Than the dinosaurs decide they want underpants, as the story goes the dinosaurs fight so hard over the underpants that they all die. Leaving the cavemen without their biggest enemy! Moral of the story, respect your underpants!!!
This book is about how they thing dinosaurs became exstinct. The theory is that the dinosaurs kept stealing other peoples underpants and from that a big fight between the dinosaurs happened and they killed each other. This is a really cute and funny book. It uses rhyming and the illustrations are very well done. I think this would be a fun book to read to younger students to get them to laugh. It also would be a good book to use when teaching about rhyming.
PB 4: I loved this book. It has a great lesson that can relate to children on how dinosaurs were extinct. Even though it may not be because dinosaurs love underpants so they fought over them, but it introduces and will get kids thinking of how dinosaurs really did become extinct. If I’m ever a teacher and I asked how dinosaurs became extinct I wouldn’t even be mad if the answer was because dinosaurs love underpants! Not to mention, dinosaurs are freaking sweet.

I had high hopes for this book because it looked so dang cute. The illustrations are awesome. Very colorful and funny. But, I have a hard time reading this book because half of it rhymes and half of it doesn't. Several times the author tries to force words to rhyme and it's just awkward and ruins the flow of the cadence. Wish I would have paid closer attention when I was skimming through books to buy. Lesson learned I guess.

My 3-yr-old thought this was hilarious, but he's fascinated with underpants having just graduated into the world of Big Boy Underwear.
The illustrations were funny and pretty much anything about underpants is too. The rhyme was a bit awkward and the story a bit lame. It entertained the little ones but was no where near the quality of some of the other books we read today.
Not really worth the time.

Personally, I thought this book was hilarious. It is already worn out from being in the classroom library, which is always a great sign. The illustrations are funny as well.
Is something I get for the kids to laugh with me so they can see how fun books can be. Obviously not scientifically sound, a whole lot silly, the rhymes can be a bit forced, but the overall concept is cute.

A vibrant picture story book told in simple rhyme, with a verse on each double page spread. Dinosaurs go crazy for the underpants cavemen invented to protect their modesty. A great pants tug-of-war ensues with catastrophic consequences for the giant reptilians. Self-annihilation of the fearsome predators leaves humankind free to thrive, all thanks to some zany underwear.
This book is about cavemen who started to feel funny being nude so they started wearing underpants. The dinosaurs saw these underwear and decided they could not live without underwear either. The dinosaurs and the cavemen then battle it out and the cavemen won, making the dinosaurs extinct. The rhyming is kind of funky, but the illustrations were funny and my kids thought the book was funny. There is one picture of a Brachiosaurus wearing underwear that is way too tight that even cracks me up.
This book was so disappointing but, it will probably do well because it has dinosaurs which kids love and underpants which kids think is funny. However, the story doesn't make sense I kept checking to see if I skipped a page. The rhyming doesn't work very well either. The illustrations are nice but, that is just not enough for all of the books faults.
I read this in B&N cause I was looking for a book for my nephew and he's into dino's and not wearing underpants. After reading it, I decided not to get it. Maybe it's my perverse mind, but it seemed like a lot of naughty. But don't take my word for it. I have a warped mind. I got my nephew Puff the Magic Dragon instead. Yeah, yeah, I know!
This one get 3 stars because I would give it 2 and my son would give it 4. Of course this book is going to be hugely popular with young kids because it is about dinosaurs and preschoolers love dinosaurs. Not an ingenius book, but kids also love underwear.
What can I say, this one will have a great home in the dinosaur cubby!

A silly premise for why the dinosaurs no longer walk Earth. But it has 2 favorites things that children love as subject matter - dinosaurs and underwear!
The one thing as a read aloud, it didn't come across totally smooth. I read this book to 8 different classes and still stumbled on a few of the rhymes.
