Before I begin my review, I have to tell you I am a bit biased when it comes to this book. You see, I was the winner of the “name a character and book dedication” prize Larissa had offered in a charity auction back in March of 2011. Originally is was to have the book dedicated to the winner and name a minor character in either the third or fourth book in this series but Larissa, being the amazingly kick ass person she is, gave me the option to wait and name the heroine of this book. After pinching myself to be sure I wasn’t dreaming and jumping around my house while screaming like a loon, I obviously chose to wait…and picked my own name for Reseph’s heroine. This book holds a special place in my heart, not only for having a truly amazing personal story behind it, but because it lived up to every possible expectation I had. And so, without further delay, here is my review…..

This is the fourth book in Ms. Ione’s Lords of Deliverance series and is Reseph’s story.

Pestilence had finally been stopped. Through the efforts of Reseph’s family, he had been ended with a fatal blow to the heart with Deliverance, a thousands year old dagger thought to be the only weapon powerful enough to use against the Horsemen. Only Reseph wasn’t exactly dead. Pestilence may be gone for now but Reseph was in Sheoul-gra trapped in a prison not only made of stone, but prison in his own mind being terrorized by the horrific memories of what Pestilence had done. Memories of death and torture, and knowing that his hands did it all, were proving to be to most horrific punishment imaginable. A punishment that Reaver, their heavenly watcher, couldn’t stand to see. Reaver knew Reseph and he knew that Reseph was worthy of a second chance….and he decided right then that he was going to give Reseph that chance no matter what the consequences were.

Jillian Cardiff is trying to get past the nightmare she left behind. After a horrific demon attack that nearly left her for dead, and being let down by the man she loved, the solitary life she leads now was a welcome escape. All she needed was her animals and the snowy mountains…until she literally stumbles across an injured stranger in the snow and decides that she can’t turn her back on him.

After nursing the stranger back to health, he awakens to find he has no memory of whom he is or how he came to be buried in snow in the mountains of Colorado. Together they will have this mystery to solve and together they will have to heal one another of the emotional scars they both have endured and learn to be resilient once again.

I know what some of you may be thinking. You’re thinking that there is no way Reseph deserves a chance at redemption and he should rot in Sheoul-gra where he belongs. From the very beginning I disagreed with that and I knew that if anyone can change the minds of the naysayers, it was Ms. Ione. From the very beginning of this story, we get to see the untainted Reseph, thanks to his amnesia. The man who is playful and cheeky despite his lack of memory…the man who clearly would have never done anything that had been done when Pestilence had been at the wheel. This is the man who his siblings had been fighting to save since the very beginning. His journey has so many facets…self-loathing, retribution, self-discovery, acceptance and forgiveness. It was both heart breaking and heart warming to watch his struggle.

Jillian’s journey was equally as fascinating. She has had her share of heartbreak and despair that has led her to build up walls that no ordinary man will be able to penetrate. Thankfully, Respeh isn’t ordinary in any sense of the word!

I cannot express how much I loved this book. I finished it in 24 hours because I just had to see what happened next. I laughed, I cried, I got weird looks at the dentist for my audible gasps. Ms. Ione created such memorable characters and the moments that they share are ones that readers won’t soon forget. The emotions from Reseph and Jillian practically leap off of the page. This was the absolute perfect ending to Pestilence…and beginning to Reseph. Thank you, Ms. Ione, for an unforgettable story and for being the amazing author and storyteller that you are.

EDITED to ADD: The Apocalypse: The Lords of Deliverance Compendium was added to the release version of this book. For anyone who hasn’t read through the Compendium from when it was released earlier this year, it is a must read. Not only does it give an incredible amount of info about the Demonica/Lords of Deliverance world; it also contains a vital story that explains the beginnings of Harvester/Lilith/Reaver, giving a broader picture of their convoluted relationships to each other.

“Rogue Rider” is the book that every fan of the ‘Lords of Deliverance’ series has been waiting for. From the first moment Pestilence struck out at his siblings, redemption seemed impossible and reconciliation was unspeakable. How could they possibly forgive him for the things that he has done? As the series progressed and we got into the heads of Ares, Limos and Thantanos we learned more of whom Pestilence was before his seal broke. Before he was Pestilence, he was their brother. He was the charismatic, loyal and fun loving Reseph. In the eyes of his siblings, he was the best of them. The one they could rely on, the one who knew their secrets. It’s why he was the most interesting Horseman to make a villain. With everything I learned about Reseph, another idea began to occur to me. The question is not how his siblings could forgive him; the question is how Reseph can possibly forgive himself.

Larissa Ione is very good at making a bad boy, good. In her Demonica series, the youngest Sem brother, Wraith is the hugest mess up. He is irresponsible, rash and extremely sarcastic. Somehow the baby brother seminous demon is the catalyst that saves the world. With this knowledge of Ione’s storytelling skills, I expected a really great story for Reseph. I waited for this book with baited breath and couldn’t wait to get it on my nook.

While I have some issues with this book, as a whole, Ione did not disappoint. The story begins with Reseph. He is out in the snow, he is naked and he has no idea who he is. My initial reaction was, NO! I want to see him face to face with his siblings! And where is Kyan and Arik, where are our supporting characters? Fortunately, Larissa Ione had a very specific plan. She separated Reseph and her readers from the other characters and all the baggage from the first three books. It allows us to momentarily forget that Reseph has Pestilence deep inside him. Without the nonstop hatred of the other characters, it is easy to forget Pestilence. The first third of the book just focuses on Reseph, Jillian and the small two-streetlight town where Reseph begins his new life. It’s actually a brilliant approach. I got to leave the baggage at the door and fall in love with Reseph.

The first third of this book is very calm. There are some grizzly deaths and of course the suspicion of the amnesiac Reseph is there, but for the most part it reads like a contemporary romance where the world just happens to be populated by demons. Then it hits the fan. Supporting characters come back, the aegis is once again plotting and Reseph’s past returns to haunt him.

Experiencing Reseph’s guilt is extremely difficult. On the one hand you know that as Pestilence he did some horrible things and deserves to be punished. On the other hand, you know that Pestilence and Respeh or not the same people. You’re suddenly placed in the shoes of his family. To forgive him or to let him suffer? Redeem him or condemn him?

In the midst of all this the fight for good vs. evil continues and there is a love story. Jillian is a really typical Paranormal Romance heroine. She is scarred, she is alone and she stumbles across a man who draws her in as much as he terrifies her. Jillian has some deep secrets of her own that could throw a wrench in her budding relationship with the damaged Horseman. Still, I liked Jillian. She was as vulnerable as she was strong. She was also extremely loyal and willing to take risks, even as she feared her heart being broken.

The reason this is a 4-star review and not a 5, unfortunately is the ending. It’s just too quick and things happen a bit too easily. Things get really really bad. Like, the end of heaven, hell and everything in between, bad. Then they come up with a plan in 5 seconds, there’s a bit of skirmish and it’s all over. The actual end of conflict, happens so fast, I had re-read the section. I thought I missed something. It gave me whiplash. Then everything is resolved and we’re just waiting for the next book. The ending just didn’t satisfy me. I don’t feel as if the tale is done. Obviously, there is a fifth book coming, but still this particular installment should feel closed.

Beyond that, I enjoyed this book. I love the Lord of Deliverance world and am excited to finally read Reaver’s book. So much is revealed about him in “Rogue Rider,” but still not enough. I want to know everything about his past, why he lost his wings and why they stripped his memory from him. I cannot wait for the fifth installment, unfortunately it’s coming out in a year.(less)

When I pick up a new book by Larissa Ione I always feel like I’m returning home. After all, she is one of the first authors to ignite my love for the PNR genre and I cannot name you one book that has not blown me away with her riveting storytelling. Rogue Rider is no exception and once again Ms. Ione allows us to escape into a world I find myself never wanting to leave.

Excellent final book in this explosive series, although I felt the declaration of love between Reseph and his honey too fast.

Also love Larissa's trademark humor with her characters. Reaver's reaction to a big humdinger of a spoiler is a hoot.

Bring on Harvester and Reaper's book! Let's hope it's filled with dirty, nasty hot loving.

WOW What a way to "end" the series. Larissa did not disappoint. I love the character of Reseph and the new person he has become versus the person that all the other horseman and watchers remember. Jillian is a fractured character that is believable and very likable. there were several times that I felt so bad for and love. Ohmigosh, ohmigosh! I finally read it! Reseph's book! *faints*

Sorry about that. It's just, I've been waiting for this book since Lethal Rider has been released. But, the torture caused by waiting is fine because the book is brilliant! I mean, I don't have a damn clue about what's going to happen.

Larissa Ione's writing is brilliant with a creative flare that had me glued to the story from the beginning to the finish.

The story picks up from the last installment of the Lords of Deliverance where Reaver (Heavenly Angel Watcher) erased Reseph's mind of all the deeds and carnage that Pestilence reeked habit on and then cast him from hell into earth somewhere.

Alrighty... got a little taste of this book in the last one... and I've been salivating ever since... Thank God I finally got to read it!!!!

Reseph (Pestilence), from the very first Horseman book has been evil and hateful and just a black cloud raining over civilization... I was soooo excited to see he lost his memory and turned into a nice guy (Reseph)... for the time being!!! I think he's my favorite of all... I mean, come on folks... he's 6'8", Blonde hair, blue eyes, and built like a brick shithouse!!! What's not to love!!! Think about it.. if all that stuff is big... think about what else is BIG...how Ms. Ione describes it... "Long, thick column of dusky brown skin and dark, pulsing veins that twined from the thick base to the smooth plum head..." Holy freakin' hell...squeeeeeee!!! Jillian of course is our little heroine and even though she's not built like a German bar maid, she can pack a punch or at least load and shoot a shotgun and look hot while doing it... funny how when she finds Reseph in the snow bank, she starts calling him "fish sticks!" Great characters with completely opposite backgrounds... makes for a very interesting story!! Totally LOL @ the comment... "Did we fu**ck?... NO... Why not!" Pretty much sold me on the book right away!!!

Larissa's leading men are always soooo crude and I love that... she seems to write them in way that just makes you cringe, but then... enter equally hot girl and she smoothes out the rough edges... well, most of them!!! There was equal amounts of romance, action, sexiness, and humor to keep me glued to my Kindle for quite some time... I think I made PB&J's for my family one night just cause I didn't want to take too much time away from the gripping story in my hands...

I was happy to see the rest of the gang show up... even it was to take Reseph away... Than, Ares, Limos, Erik, Reaver, Kynan, etc... it's like the hottest of the hot...my Kindle nearly melted!!! I saw at the end of this book (which ended at 80% ) that Reaver's gonna get a book... sooo happy about that... he's been a huge part of this entire series... and I was feeling bad about his situation and thought... we really need to know his story and put an end to it and so we will some time in fall 2013!!

I was totally engrossed in this book from the get-go and then it ended at 80%... I thought I was seeing things when I looked down on the bottom of my Kindle and saw 80% and the damn story was over... now, don't get me wrong the ending was phenomenal and I wouldn't change it for all the tea in China... but 80%... so, I kept turning pages because that what I do... and low and behold... there's more... SO MUCH MORE... a blurp from Eternal Rider (the first book in the horseman series), Ares's book... then there's the Apocalypse: The Lords of Deliverance Compendium, Key Players and their descriptions in the series, Info on their four horses, The World they live in, Weapons you might see and how they work, Info on all the demon species you'll see and hear about, a question and answers section with Larissa Ione, The Legend of the Four Horseman, a little story about Lilith, and few other little tid bits about this series... 424 kindle pages of pure ecstasy!!! 5 STARS!!

If you are seriously in the mood for an excellent, hot, steamy, action packed series... then look no further... You can read the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse alone... but it's better if you start with the first book of her Demonica series... Pleasure Unbound... that'll get you right where you need to be!!! I wanted to give this 5 because Reseph is a well of HOTness and I can't decide if he's my favourite horseman, or if Thanatos is...

Anyway, I feel it SHOULD have been Reseph, but I felt he needed more humour, given his playboy, fun-loving background. Than's book (Lethal Rider) had way more humour in despite the darker emotional aspect.

I love Larissa Ione's writing, all of her books are very good so it's no surprise for me that Rogue Rider is another great story. I wasn't expecting to like it as much, thinking it would be hard for her to make me like Reseph, but after chapter one I was already hooked.

Jillian also made a very good match for the Horseman, I specially liked her no-nonsense attitude. Every romance has a stalling part in which the main couple thinks things won't work out, they're all doomed etc, and generally this...more

As I have said before, I was a paranormal romance fan before finding my calling at Guilty Pleasures and discovering BDSM, sexy cowboys with rope fetishes, etc. I was strictly a vampire, werewolf and shifter type of gal. When I came across Larissa Ione’s Daemonica series and was hooked. Seriously, who wouldn’t fall in love with a panty melting family of sex demons that run an underground hospital for demons. OK so it sounds odd but I guarantee you that the Sem Brothers are literally sex incarnate and I drool just thinking about them. I flew through that series so fast that I was actually angry when I finished the last book and found out it literally was the last book (at least I thought so until now). There was hope and I was excited when I found out about the spinoff series to Daemonica: the Lords if Deliverance series. The most recent book in Daemonica left readers wondering about the Four Horseman of the Apocolypse (The Lords of Deliverance) after Reseph’s seal was broken and Pestilence was set free to wreak havoc on Earth. As a result, The Lords of Deliverance came to be and of the four books tells the story of one of the Horseman (Thanatos, Limos, Ares, Reseph also known as Death, Famine, War and Pestilence).

In Rogue Rider, the fourth installment of the series, the world has been terrorized by demons that are no longer in hiding. Disease has plagued the Earth and at the command of Pestilence, demons have raped, tortured and murdered anyone in their path. When three of the Horseman finally figured out how to kill Pestilence, they do what is necessary to save the world and prevent the apocalypse. What they do not realize, is that they were tricked by their watcher, and Reseph/Pestilence, is still alive and well.

Jillian is doing her best to recover from her ordeal. Now that the world has calmed and the demons have stopped terrorizing people she is trying to move on. After surviving a brutal attack, and living to tell the tale, Jillian is determined to start a new life and steer clear of potential trouble. She has no idea why there is a gorgeous naked man lying in a snow pile in the middle of nowhere. Nor does she understand why he is still alive after being outside in such a state. What she does know is that she needs to get him indoors and quick. When she gets this mysterious man home and warmed up, he finally awakens only to realize he does not have any idea who he is or how he got there. The only thing he remembers is his name, Reseph.

As the bond between Reseph and Jillian grows, Reseph realizes he has never felt this way about a female. He wants her for keeps but is scared of a past he does not remember. What if he is a serial killer, or a rapist? There have been demon attacks and murders near Jillian’s cabin and for some reason, he is drawn to them. Why is it he can sense them? How is it he knows what blood and brimstone smell like? He doesn’t understand and he just can’t remember.

Jillian is falling in love and she doesn’t know what to do. She is in love with Reseph but worries what will happen when he discovers his past. When his memory returns will he leave her? She has known nothing but heartache in the past and has no desire for a repeat performance. Is Reseph too good to be true? The answers to her questions show up on her doorstep when three armed figures on horseback appear. While Jillian was prepared to hear that Reseph had a past, she was not expecting a centuries old half demon that almost destroyed the world.

I am not at all surprised with how much fun I had reading this book. The characters just fascinate me and the combination of paranormal and biblical lore is intriguing to say the least. Reseph is sexy as sin and his carefree spirit combined with uninhibited flirtiness will have your panties in a puddle the moment his possessive streak appears. His ability to seem innocent yet powerful is part of his appeal as well as distaste in the fact that he occasionally has to wear clothes. His moments with Jillian are sweet and beautiful at times and hard core heated during others. While I thoroughly enjoy those moments, I find the banter and teasing leading up to those moments are even more fun because they showcase the personalities that make these characters so vulnerable and real.

While this beautiful love story unfolds, there is a serious matter at hand; the apocalypse. Reseph is still tied down by Pestilence, even if he does not realize it. Although he is being watched over by a guardian, Reaver, there are agencies in search of him that want to see him dead. Combine that with the fact that his brothers and sister now know that he is alive and want to see him dead for the hell he put them through, and he is basically public enemy number one. When he does finally get his memory back, it comes back in full force and the pain is intolerable. Now Reseph must figure out how to survive and overcome Pestilence so that he can spend his life with the woman he loves as well as gain back the family he lost at the hands of Pestilence. This means, finding out the truth of his mother, his father, and his past.

All I can say is that this is one wild ride that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was so worried that this book meant the end of yet another series but I am happy to see that Daemonica will live on. When Reaver the Angel (the watcher of the Horsemen) finds out the truth about his past, he is determined to get more answers. In searching for those answers he learns that Harvester (a fallen angel that was also a watcher of the Horsemen) has been taken to Sheoul for crimes she committed to help the Horsemen end the Apocolypse. As we end on that note, Larissa Ione is taking us back to Daemonica for a new installment in the series to find out the truth about Reaver’s past and what happened to Harvester now that she has been taken to Sheoul (Hell). Perhaps the Sem brothers will even be back for a visit (a girl can dream can’t she).

Is there a way to give this book more than 5 stars? I hope so because it deserves it. I absolutely loved this book and Reseph is now my favorite of all the Horsemen. If you have not read the Lords of Deliverance series then do NOT start with this book. Start at book one (Eternal Rider) or even better start back at the very beginning with the Demonica series but do not read this book as a stand alone because you will be missing out on so much.

Larissa Ione has done it yet again. She has blown me away with her superb writing skills, lovable characters, and a world that is so lush it's hard to remember that it's not real.

I think Reseph's story was the one I anticipated the most. I loved his playboy character, his carefree attitude, and I was so curious to see how she would redeem him after his ugly transformation into the wicked Pestilence. I was also worried that the heroine in this novel wouldn't live up to my expectations. I have a tendency to expect the heroine to be badass enough to be with the heroes I adore, and more often than not, a lot of the heroines end up being whiny and lack a backbone.

Not the case with Jilly (am I going to get hit with a frying pan??). Despite her traumatizing past, she essentially shoves her fears aside and defends those she cares for. Her character isn't suffocating with motherly instincts. She isn't a pushover. She knows what she wants, and she won't cave in--even to Reseph. And Reseph in turn doesn't turn into some whipped boytoy by the end of the story. He was humbled without being emasculated. Hoorah!!

I thought that this would be the end to the Horsemen series, but I was thrilled to see that there would be another book. No saying goodbye yet. There were so many twists this time around, and I came to care for characters I initially felt deserved whatever horrible fate they had coming their way. It's amazing how a few scenes can completely change my perspective, and I think this just affirms that Larissa is an excellent storyteller.

Worldbuilding is of course amazing. The plot doesn't have any lulls in it. The sex, like always, was hot. Not too many mushy scenes that would make you feel like you'd get a bunch of cavities; in fact, those lovey scenes didn't turn me off like they sometimes do in other books. It worked, and I think it worked because I knew that those scenes held so much more meaning because of the characters and their pasts.

Another amazing read. Start this series from the beginning. Like I've said in other reviews, if you really want to appreciate this world, start from the very beginning in the Daemonica series. Lots of books to read, but its worth it in the end.(less)

Rogue Rider is a great story of the power of love. I think one of the things I liked most after seeing the evil side of Pestilence was to get a glimpse of who Reseph was and understand why his siblings loved him so and struggled with the thought of killing him (as Pestilence) to save the world. I think in this we see the charisma Reseph possesses and understand their feelings more. Also, the dynamic between the siblings as they try to find a way to let go of their hatred for Pestilence and come to terms him being Reseph again is so… human. And touching.

Larissa Ione created a fascinating world for these amazing characters she has created. Even the characters you hate, you want more of. Harvester, who had me gritting my teeth in prior books, I wanted to know what happened to her. From the angels who are some of the biggest jerks in existence to the horsemen and their mates to the humans who fight beside them, you’re left wanting more.

An excellent series that I cannot recommend highly enough!

Ione manages to take my breath away once again with the final book in the Lords of Deliverance Series. I always hate reading the last book in a series, because I most of the time feel like a series didn't end the right way. Well, let me just tell you that wasn't the case in this book.

AND this was fantastic! I was not so sure about this one because Reseph was sooo evil as the Horseman "Pestilence". There is truth in the fact that a good woman can change a wicked man....but what if the wicked man has amnesia and doesn't KNOW he's evil?
