Cameron Nation was a good read. One part was very entertaining and provided an engaging story of a fictional man who rises from a lower middle class upbringing to be the most powerful person in the world of politics. Along the way he befriends many influential figures, but also stays grounded by remaining loyal to his roots - his blood brothers from the neighborhood, Sal & Tony. Great fun reading about these guys and I also enjoyed the opening poker tournament which segued nicely into flashb...more
Loved, LOVED this book. The book is a fictionalized story of a man who ends up becoming President of the US. What I loved, however, is the detailed information enbedded in this novel explaining supply side economics vs Keynesian; the explanations of failed Obama policies; and the explanations of how our economy arrived in such a state as it is in today. I have read all of this before by different conservative authors but Mr Carraturo has an excellent way of explaining all this in clean, clear, c...more
Carraturo does a fantastic job in his first book. He simultaneously tells an extremely entertaining story, explains conservative political theory and provides a thorough history lesson across various subjects in Cameron Nation. Each part is needed for this novel to come together, and each one is completed successfully.

David Carraturo has definitely done his homework. There were many times while reading this book that I forgot I was reading a work of fiction, as it is thoroughly laced with fact throughout, from US and world history, to accurate views of the political climate in the U.S dating back to President Carter's era. The amount of detail Carraturo goes into in setting the scene of the story is amazing, giving the reader the necessary information to truly understand the main character, Chris Cameron, and...more
Chris Cameron seems like a do-gooder by all accounts, but alas he has a dark past. The author weaves a complex story of local New York history, including immigrant history of "back in the old neighborhood," how an ordinary man can rise to the American presidency and the current mess of political affairs in the US today.

It has been my pleasure to read Cameron Nation. This book hooked me from the beginning. Learning about the main character, Christopher, was an amazing ride. His journey through life was informative and kept me wanting to read more. When Christopher became Vice President of the United States it captured my attention. All the way until he became President. Taking place after Obama's term. Being a

Cameron Nation was a book I was surprised I liked so much. My father recommended it to me to read to learn about politics. The story was so entertaining that I did not mind the steady doses of politics and economic theory explained and playing out throughout all sections of the book.
I thought Chris Cameron and his interactions with his family and friends were very realistic and the dialogue and setting were crisp and fluid. The prologue was gruesome but cool and well deserved. I recommend this b...more

Oh, the perfect political world for me. David Carraturo nailed it on creatig a political leader for the ages. Chris Cameron looks, feels and acts like a genuine person with one goal, to take care of his family...even when his family is the entire United States of America. Great read, loved the poker and interweaving his personal friendships with his long time buddies, Sal & ony was icing on the cake. If Chris Cameron were in Washington, things would definitely change and for the better. I re...more
OK This review for me is a mixed one. I'm very much up with the political scene and I was intrigued with the idea of this book. It starts off with a scene in Florida and looks like a mafia style killing. Then the book goes imediately to the so called present day where the main character,Chris Cameron is President and meeting with a Mexican leader. I found that chapter to be one of my favorites. But as the story progresses it goes back and forth from present and past events. The writer does this...more
Christopher Cameron has led an interesting, varied life. Born from an Italian mother and an Irish father, he grew up in Tuckahoe, New York with his older sister Sabina. Growing up in a close knit community, he has retained many friends from his childhood. With a background in the military, football and an American history and economics double major from the University of Texas, Chris tackles the business world with the same hard work and determination he showed growing up.

I thought Cameron Nation was a very good read and timely. The characters were engaging, funny and I found myself truly in the life of Chris Cameron. The opening poker sequence, while I have a hard time understanding the game, provided the perfect venue to segue into flashbacks of the life of Chris. His dealings with world leaders, power brokers, friends and his family were all conveyed in very realistic fashion. Well done.
Intriguing story about what our nation can do to recover from the NObama administration. Written as a fictional story with some excellent ideas on ways to turn our country around. ‘They’ (fictional President & Vice President) used many hard tactics to accomplish their goals. Some really good ideas that ‘liberals’ would never allow to happen in real life. I was given a free Kindle download of this book.
Wow! How can I sum up this book in only a few words? In Cameron Nation, author David Carraturo has written an epic saga, along the lines of "The Godfather" and such stories. When you finish this book, you may feel as though you have lived a whole lifetime, or watched a complete miniseries, or eaten a satisfying 4-course dinner. Cameron Nation combines current events with the author's vision of a possible future America, successful and revitalized, in the hands of a president and administration w...more
This is one very good book to read. Opening the story with a prologue that includes a murder caught my attention. I kept reading more to see where the story would go. The author, David Carraturo, provided a story that is a wonderful mix of mystery, murder, politics and philantrophy. The section dealing with poker I found interesting to read considering I do not play cards at all. The political policies described in the story are intriguing. The Ten-Point Plan is truly thought provoking.

This book was not for me. I am bummed as after reading the summary and other reviews I was really looking forward to this book. For me, there was just way too much detail, too much going back and forth with the poker tournament, too many names - I just couldn't keep up. My brain overheated. Half-way through the book, I had to let it go. The prologue got me depressed.
I was a Goodreads winner of this book. I am hoping there are others who like it and appreciate it more than I could. It just wasn't...more
