CAUTION: RANTING AHEAD. (Not the whole thing, but I had a lot to get off my chest lol)

First I need to say just how much I love the covers for these books so far-- I really liked Firelight's, but I think I like Vanish's even more-- and when you put the two side-by-side, it's just like, **wow.** Love them! So now we know what Jacinda and Tamra look like, I wonder who we will be seeing on the third cover?!

The love-triangle RUINED it for me. I don't even care who Jacinda ends up with at this point. I really don't. I liked Will in Firelight, but I didn't care for him in this book (honestly, didn't even give him a second thought, which might be because he was barely in it). I was neutral towards Cassian in Firelight, and I ended up disliking him in this book.

I wanted so much more from this follow up to Firelight, which was a lush and refreshing take on YA fantasy. Unfortunately, Vanish suffers from what I hope is merely Second Book Slump and not an indication of the way the third book will go.

I really want to support a local author, but unfortunately, I just couldn't honestly say that I liked this book.

This book is SO heavily emotionally bogged down. The ~~first eight chapters of the~~ book was about her whining and wallowing in self pity. (view spoiler) On and on. It was just too much.

There were times I was just dying to know what happens next, (view spoiler) and I kept waiting and waiting until Jordan got to the point.

Don't get me wrong. I admire an author who is able to describe emotions to where the reader empathizes and sympathizes with the characters. But I would say about 85-90% of the book was about Jacinda's emotions - to the point where readers are just overburdened by the same thoughts over and over again.

Otherwise, the book was about… MAJOR SPOILER! (view spoiler) Oh yeah, and there was a face-off with a bear.

And it ended so abruptly, that I was wondering if I was missing the rest of the story. It wasn't exactly a cliffhanger, but it just kind of... stopped.

By the way, I liked Will from book 1, but after all of that thinking that Jacinda does, I have decided I like Casian much better. And I always thought he was more than what Jordan gave him credit for in the first book. I will be royally pissed if Jacinda ends up with Will.(less)

This book better amaze! After the shockingly bad ending of the previous one, I'm about ready to give up with this series. The plot, characters and premise of the story I all found AMAZING. The excecution? Not so much. Let's hope this book redeems the ending of the last, or I'm going to go crazy...

I was really excited for this book because Firelight leaves us in such promising ending. But again nothing worthy happens. There’s the Tamar’s thing and Jacinda back and forth feelings that really annoys me and ... that’s all! I kept waiting for something to develop, and about halfway through the book, the story got really promising. Again! Talks about the consistency of the author.
Great start.

Jacinda si toho v uplynulých měsících prožila dost. Nic ale neprobíhalo podle matčin představ a Jacinda se tam zamilovala do ne zas tak obyčejného Willa. Protože je ale pro kmen dost cenná, nenechal ji za žádných okolností na pokoji. Tak se po docela tragických a nepříjemných událostech musí celá její rodina ke kmeni zase vrátit. Všechny ví, že bez trestu to nebude. A rozhodně se nemýlí.

Jacinda si znovu musí zvykat na život v kmeni, kde je ale teď nežádanou osobou a všichni na ní opatrně koukají skrz prsty, i když je stále pro kmen dost důležitá. Jediný Cassian ji bere opravdu vážně a snaží se jí její postavení zlepšit, i když k tomu tedy má i své a značně osobní důvody. A i když se Jacinda snaží zase zapadnout, stále přemýšlí o útěku. Ten se jí po několika pokusech povede, ale samozřejmě nic nevyjde tak, jak plánovala. Musí se proto nejdříve vypravit do místa, kterému by se jako drakie měla obrovským obloukem vyhýbat…

První díl Drakie skončil zajímavě, co vám budu povídat. A přestože to byl konec, dalo by se říci dosti uzavřený, stejně jsme všichni po druhém díle vyloženě toužili. A zároveň jsme se ho obávali, protože druhé díly často, bohužel až hodně často, nedopadají dobře… Útěk se ale vyloženě podařil!

Už od první stránky vás do sebe příběh vtáhne. A je to, jako kdybyste nikdy nepřestali předchozí knihu číst. A netuším, jak se to autorce povedlo, ale je to ještě daleko čtivější než minule. Výborně se střídají Jacindiny „dumající“ scény s těmi akčnějšími, kterých tu sice není tolik jako v jedničce, ale příběh obohacují scény z kmene, kdy se něco nového a zajímavého dozvídáme o drakijích, takže se rozhodně nenudíme. A pak jsou tu samozřejmě scény romantické… A přestože tu vlastně nemáme milostný trojúhelník, ale rovnou v podstatě milostný mnohoúhelník (nelžu, vážně tam něco takového je!), celé podání romance není tak klišoidní, jak byste mohli očekávat. Ano, má jisté ošidné stránky, které nejsou zrovna originální, ale celkově v tomto podání to není vůbec trapné nebo pro čtenáře nepříjemné.

Celá kniha je velice dobře vyvážená. Příběh neztrácí spád a čtivost ještě nabírá, a žádný faktor knihy není otravný, ba právě naopak, někdy se budete přímo dožadovat po daleko více. Ale než se nadějete, kniha je u konce, a tentokrát to příjemně zakončené není… přichází totiž opravdu dramatický závěr. A přestože jste přesně věděli, že to takhle dopadne, stejně si zanadáváte, že to pokračování nemáte hned u sebe.

Co se knize dá vytknout, je její předvídatelnost. Nechci říkat přesně v čem (i když už se to na hodně místech dočtete), ale když se pár věcí stane, prostě si opravdu upřímně řeknete „Já to věděla!" A v podstatě po celou dobu čtení tak nějak víte, jakým směrem se bude příběh ubírat. Ale díky svojí čtivosti a tomu, jak dokáže kniha přímo pohltit, si toho při čtení nemusíte vůbec všimnout. Nic tak v podstatě nebrání tomu, abyste si užili skvělý čtenářský zážitek, který Útěk rozhodně přináší. (less)

I admit: as soon as I opened Vanish, I skipped ahead to read a highly anticipated reunion scene. (I mean, I have been looking forward to this moment for almost 365 days...at least, that's how I justified it.) Once I was satiated, I decided to behave myself and read the book in order from page 1...and I kept burning through the pages until I'd read Vanish in one sitting. Sophie Jordan's writing flows like a seasoned pro's. It's easy to lose yoursel...more Sophie Jordan knows how to write one steamy kiss.

I admit: as soon as I opened Vanish, I skipped ahead to read a highly anticipated reunion scene. (I mean, I have been looking forward to this moment for almost 365 days...at least, that's how I justified it.) Once I was satiated, I decided to behave myself and read the book in order from page 1...and I kept burning through the pages until I'd read Vanish in one sitting. Sophie Jordan's writing flows like a seasoned pro's. It's easy to lose yourself in these pages, to glance up and realize 100 pages have melted away because you're so immersed. A lot of the clunkiness, the overwrought descriptions and awkward dialogue, that plague other YA novels are refreshingly absent from Sophie Jordan's writing. And WOW does she know her romance.

And let's just say it again: Sophie Jordan knows how to write one steamy kiss. (I admit--the romance is my favorite part of Firelight. A bit shallow, I know.) I've read other YA novels written by adult romance novelists, and Sophie Jordan hands down does the most skillful job of taking those romance talents and creating a fresh, compelling, steamy-yet-appropriate novel for teens.

And let's talk love triangles. Some are abhorrent. And some give you all kinds of butterflies. For me, this love triangle is the latter. Sophie has developed Cassian into this layered, tender, protective, caring character with hidden depths, and though I doubted it would be possible after Firelight, he is definitely some formidable competition for Will. (But we all know I'm cheering for Tamra and Cassian! And speaking of Tamra and her character arc, I just have to say, I so called it back in Firelight.) Jacinda's grown as a character, too. She's still a wee bit selfish at times, but many of the mistakes she makes in Vanish are when she's trying to do the right thing and help other people and fix her wrongs. She just never has been given a choice. She feels trapped between loyalty, love, and duty, and that desperation created by never having had a choice in her own outcome drives her to make some mistakes that she will try to repair at any cost.

Sophie Jordan throws some game-changing twists in there, too, keeping the story riveting. I cannot wait to see the next chapter for Jacinda, Will, Cassian, and Tamra. (I have some predictions, like always, and I can't wait for the final story to unfold.) (less)

Ever since this series started, it has been nothing but a breathless thrill ride. There were no dull moments in Firelight, and Vanish took no exception. Sophie Jordan's writing is addictive and I'm already thirsty for more! Jacinda really grew in this one. She realized that fantasies are just that; fantasies. She wants to be with Will, but with her mother and sister back at the pride, she knows she can't abandon them. She grows up, and realizes how selfish she's being.

There were a lot more dramatic parts to this one, and a lot more politics involved with the pride. I have to admit, I fell a little in love with Cassian. I know it's supposed to be Will we're rooting for, but you can feel his love for Jacinda almost like it's a palpable thing. Will is mostly absent for this book, but the moments he and Jacinda do have... well, you're going to have to find out for yourself. Jordan can write a dang good kissing scene, and not just with Jacinda and Will.

I liked getting to know Jacinda's twin sister, Tamra, a little better. In truth, I forgot she even had a twin going into this book. I always thought of her as the younger sister because she never manifested as a dragon. But when she manifests in front of a bunch of hunters on the way back to the pride in the very beginning, it turns out that she's one of the most valuable draki there can be. Even more valuable than a fire-breather like Jacinda.

This was a very enjoyable read for me. This series grabbed my attention from the first line in Firelight and has kept me on the edge of my seat since then. And now I realize how long I'm going to have to wait for the final book...

*SPOILERS*
Corbin. Need I say more? What is his damage? Is he simply jealous of his cousin, Cassian? Does he really want to possess Jacinda, or her power? And Mariam was annoying too. I was a little perturbed when Jace and Will left her behind, but it's her own fault she didn't spring to safety when she had the chance. Who knows what they've done to her now? But she is Cassian's sister. That whole family is just messed up. Except for Cassian.

I don't know why, but I really felt his pain in this one. You can plainly see how much he loves Lucinda. And they ever bonded, which is the Draki form of marriage, and she still won't take him. I know she thinks Will is the One, but I have to say I'm actually pretty torn now. Jace and Cassian share this bond that her and Will are never going to be able to have, no matter how in tune they are with each other. I'm interested to see how it's all going to work out. I know that Cassian's not going anywhere any time soon. Who knows, maybe Cassian and Tamra will end up together after all. But I don't see how this connection they have now can just be severed.(less)

Quite easy to finish. If book 1 is more about Will, then I guess you know which love rival is more given some screen time.

The next paragraphs would be spoilers, if you don't want to know what happens next, then stop reading right now.

Of course, there has to be something special to Tam. I thought she would be some kind of Ice Dragon, an opposite to Jace's abilities, but I was proven wrong.

I really like the second book in this series. I think Jordan does a good job of balancing the relationship, the pride, and family dynamics. I love the description of the draki flying...I want to fly! Of course the end is a cliff hanger, and I am left wanting more.

This is surprising.
I remember I wasn't entrapped in the first book , but Vanish has got me enthralled.
It's more interesting, fast paced and informative.

A really fast light read but it's more intense than Firelight.

I feel bad for Cassian, I do feel that Jacinda will be more suited to Cassian than Will. I like Cassian so much more in this book. Though Will isn't so bad himself, but ....just BUT...

I loved it! Even though it wasn't amazing, I still loved it. I did have days where I couldn't read, which was frustrating because I would leave myself hanging every time I put down the book.

I was really glad the book picked up where it had left off in the 1st book (Firelight). The plot/storyline was so well written. I feel the like story is getting better with each book..Even though this is only the 2nd one..The story gets intense throughout the book. I literally held my breath a couple of time....more

Well, there were dragons in it. That's probably the book's only redeeming quality. No kidding.
Love triangle? Seriously? I don't care that Jacinda really wants Will; she kisses Cassian passionately and thinks about him all the time. I disliked Jacinda. She was whiny, arrogant, and foolish. She didn't seem to really understand what was going on, or that a one-month crush was NOT true love. Brat.

Anyway, as far as the story is concerned, I'm still very much interested in it but only because I have a soft spot for dragons. I know I've said I can't get enough of vampires and wizards etc. but once in a while it's good to read something refreshing, you know?

Sophie Jordan, has an incredible imagination, and her world building in this book was beautiful. I really enjoyed reading into the life of the pride; to get a sense of what goes on behind all the mist that Nidia creates.

It felt great to get back into the story like it was like Firelight never finished, you ease yourself nicely into the next story and you instantly rebuild the connection you previously had with Jacinda. If anything Jacinda is a lot stronger in this than previously in Firelight, I was always connected to Jacinda, and even more so in Vanish, when she was happy I'd be happy, when she was sad, I'd be sad, when she was angry...well you get the gist. I felt a lot more emotion to her sister Tamra this time around especially after what happened to her at the start. Previous characters like Cassian redeemed themselves in this one. In Firelight I came to the conclusion that he was a jerk, and I didn't like him, but I was so, so wrong. There's nothing jerky about him at all. I found myself falling for him really hard and I'm still oh so confused about him and Will. Although there was less Will than we like, Cassian managed to fill that missing Will part. Of course when Will was around it was great, but I never forgot Cassian, and I never will.

Anyway, I knew there'd be some sort of cliffy at the end, but it wasn't major as I saw it coming, and I really do need book 3, there's no news on the name or release but I want it!

I thoroughly enjoyed Vanish it was a great continuation to Firelight and I can't wait for book 3.

I am so in love! I never thought I can love a series so much as I do this one. Sophie Jordan has an amazing imagination! Just like with Firelight, I read Vanish in FOUR HOURS! It's so fast paced and an easy read, that I quickly got lost inside. I loved every minute of it! I want to share so much about Vanish, but I feel I would ruin it for those who have not read Firelight, the first in the series. I will try my best not to ruin it for anyone.

Vanish begins right where Firelight left off. They find themselves in a bit of trouble yet again and don't know how to get out of the mess their in. With Jacinda's sister Tamra freaking out, Cassian trying to control his anger, and Jacinda worried about Will, they were seriously losing grip. They decide to try and fight their way, but Tamra does something that surprises them all. Including me!

I was at the edge of my seat with every word. For Jacinda, forgetting Will was a lot harder than she thought. She tried really hard to fall back into her old life, but that becomes even harder for her when Will takes the risk of coming to find her. Not knowing what to do, who to trust or turn to, she decides to follow her heart and do what she feels is right. With the help of Tamra, they set out on a whole new journey and things quickly get out of control...AGAIN.

Will and Jacinda's relationship is just beautiful in every way. They are my Edward and Bella. I love everything about them! Sophie Jordan did a fantastic job with creating these two. Event after event, it was so hard to take a breather and put Vanish down. I want to keep going on and on about Vanish and how much I love this series, but it breaks my heart to think that I now have to wait even longer for the next in the series.

Vanish is an incredible sequel to Firelight. I am always so worried that a sequel will not compare to the first, or that the characters personalities would change somehow, but in Vanish everything remains the same and it's a lot more suspenseful. The suspense was killing me. I needed to know what would happen to Will and Jacinda. I feel like I am not making sense and jumping from one thing to the next lol that's how in love I am with this series. I want to cover everything and giveaway spoilers.

This is a series I think should be on every one's To Be Read list, if you haven't read it already. It's amazing, it's romantic, suspenseful and fast paced. A DEFINITE GOOD CHOICE FOR READING!

I had a lot of high expectations for this book. I loved the first book, Firelight, and couldn't wait to read more about Jacinda and Will. I was a total Will fan in Firelight, but Cassian stole my heart in this book. Now I can't decide who I like more. I thought that I would miss Will, since the first beginning of the book is Jacinda back at the Pride, but I actually didn't. I was completely content with the Cassian and Tamra story. This book was everything that I could have hoped for and more.

I do like Jacinda, but I believe I am starting to like Tamra even more. Like I said in my review over Firelight, I am happy that she is Jacinda's twin sister and not an older or young sibling. I feel like that makes the whole story a lot better. I love her character! I honestly don't know how I feel about this whole love triangle. I love Will and I love Cassian. I hate when this happens! That whole car trip with the gang was so hilarious. I could feel the tension and the weirdness of it all that it was so funny. I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book between the four characters.

I can't believe how fast I read this book. I was able to read it in one setting. I forgot what it was like to read a compltely awesome book. Thank you, Sophie Jordan for writing such an awesome book series. I can't wait to read the next book. It can come soon enough.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I totally didn't see the whole bonding ceremony between Cassian and Jacinda coming. That is totally crazy! I love it! I hate to say this, but I think that it is cruel for Jacinda to be with Will right infront of Cassian. They are bonded, so he can feel everything that Jacinda feels. I am actually a Cassian and Tamra shipper, but only because Tamra wants to be with him. Other than that, I don't like them. I felt like Cassian was just leading on Tamra and everything. I honestly don't see what is so special about Jacinda that isn't seen in Tamra.(less)

Sophie Jordan has done it again, but left with twice the bang! Vanish book two in the Firelight series did not disappoint at all! In fact it was even better then book one, which I though was honestly impossible. Sophie has put together such an amazing paranormal world, everytime I finish one of her books, all I wanna do is pick it back up and start all over.

Jacinda is crushed, while in hiding from the pride she fell in love with Will...but Will and her were never meant to be together from the start..Will is a hunter, and Jacinda is a Draki, exactly what he hunts, but Will doesn't like the hunt like the rest of his family, and he thinks Jacinda is beautiful Draki or not. Now she is going back to the pride, and the pride will do anything to keep her there..and out of trouble..but that wont stop Will, he will find a way to be with Jacinda, but Will isnt the only one fighting for Jacinda, Cassian is also chasing after her heart.

Vanish was amazing. I couldnt beileve how much Jacinda and Tamra both grew, even Cassian and Will I noticed a big change in them. The romance in this book has left me in a stuck, I still think I am leaning towards the romantic Will, but you can't help, but feel for Cassian, and even though it's almost for sure that Jacinda will probably be with Will in the end, I am hoping Cassian at least gets a happy ending. Sophie has put together such an amazing love triangle in this book, it is deffiently one of my favorites, both of the guys are so caring and protective of Jacinda, you can't help but fall for both of them.

To sum up Vanish, it is basically a must read book. If you havn't read the Firelight series by Sophie Jordan...you are seriously missing out Sophie is a YA author that no one will be forgetting anytime soon with her wonderful stories of love, adventure, action and mystery. Vanish will leave you up at night until the last page, dying for book three Hidden.

Random note: Seriously if I could be any character in a book I would totally wanna be Jacinda.<3

This book was totally awesome! The love triangle between Jacinda, Will and Cassian erupted into something I didn't expect. Team Will or team Cassian? I can't decide!

The first part of the book, was written in such a way that the reader is drawn into Jacinda's pain (lonliness and humiliation).
