Skinjacker Trilogy: Everlost; Everwild; Everfound (Skinjacker #1-3)
by
Neal Shusterman (Goodreads Author)
Not every child who dies goes on to the afterlife. Some are caught halfway between life and death, in a sort of limbo known as Everlost: a shadow of the living world, filled with all the things and places that no longer exist. It's a magical, yet dangerous place where bands of lost kids run wild and anyone who stands in the same place too long sinks to the center of the Ea...more

Neal Shusterman has just won over a new fan! I love this philosophical trilogy that is the most unique fantasy novel I have read. The setting is a place where children go after they die but for various reasons, don't reach "the light at the end of the tunnel". Instead they arrive in "Everlost" where they must determine their existance with weakening knowledge from their life before death and only faith of what their final destination might be - just as Wordsworth describes in his Ode from "Intim...more
Wow. Just.. Wow. I was at my school library, looking for something to read.. Low and behold, I found Everlost. Books similar to it had always caught my interest, and Everlost was no exception. I had it turned in the next day and I was begging for the next in the series. Luckily, the library had it - And once again, I was wowed and returned to the library to get the third book - But we didn't have it. So, I went and bought it, finished it, and now.. I'm read to review. I gave the Skinjackers Tril...more
Woah. That was awesome. Nick and Allie are both in cars and accidentally crash into each other.
They see this tunnel with a light at the end of it, but don't go in. And then, they wake up in a forest and find out its been nine months. And then, they find out if they step on land, they will sink to the center of the Earth.
The characters were very interesting. I like the different viewpoints. I could relate with the characters.

(FROM MY BLOG): Allie and Nick are 14-year-old passengers in two cars that hit head-on. They find themselves flying through a tunnel toward a bright light. Their "bodies" collide, and they wake up in a forest. Welcome, kids, to the world of Everlost.

This series is probably the best series out there right now, along with the Gone series by Michael Grant. It feels complete after you turn the last page, but still leaves you longing for more. I believe a good series should be able to do that. The writing is beautiful and flowing, easy to read, and sprinkled with large-enough words throughout. It is one of the most 'epic' feeling series too, as they travel from (dead)NYC to Memphis, San Antonio, and the Trinity site. I love the premise too. Dead...more
Amazing. Simply amazing.
And it kept getting better with each book; the quality of the story did not ever degrade.
It's marvelously written, the story great.
I believe the book teaches you a lot about life, and it's also fun to read. The character's are likable, even the evil ones. (I cried when Milos was extinguished, even though he was treacherous jerk.)

I read this young adult trilogy and liked it! Everlost is where the spirits of children (18 and under) go if they "don't get to where they are going" when they die. Everlost is like another world within our world that has its own set of rules. Certain objects or buildings will pass into Everlostif there was a strong emotional attachment to the object when it passed. These objects are solid and vibrant to the 'afterlights' while the living world is faded, and they sink if they stay in one place t...more
Really outstanding. Every book was simply great I thought. I went over some of my particular favorite themes that were introduced in Everlost...when I reviewed Everlost. But as frequently happens in many trilogies, this series did not lose speed, focus or die off in the middle or fizzle out at the end. It was like a train barreling full speed ahead and never running out of track until getting to its destination. Ironic simile, I know.

Just finished reading the trilogy. Very excellent read, definitely kept me reading. I enjoyed how the author explained everything and tied up all loose ends. The author also did an excellent job keeping the character's personalities consist throughout the whole series, something I find a lot authors fail to do. The one and only complaint I have is that later in the third book the author talks about Korean skinjacker who's has the last name Nguyen, now that is typically a Vietnamese last name, or...more
Most amazing twisted triology of monsters, lucky coins, chocolate and love. It's a story about finding your purpose even in the afterworld. Everlost is a place only children go when they die. It's between earth and heaven. How ever you die is how you will stay for eternity. So if you die while eating a candy bar, the chocolate might just stay permanently smudged across your face. Everlost is ruled by an ogre-ish monster called the McGill and his enemy is the Sky Witch. With Shusterman's twists a...more
I loved the whole trilogy, and I wish that they would make more of the Everlost books. They are funny and a good read. The trilogy is set in a world of all the things that deserved a piece of eternity or were loved dearly when they were destroyed (the twin towers, the "land" from the Hollywood sign etc...). Some kids who died between the ages of five and eighteen get stuck there too. Most of the kids have given up on life, but there are some people who have not. The trilogy pulls you into an adv...more
On one hand, there is much that I found continually impressive about this series, such as the way the author blended historical fact with folklore, superstition, and even everyday oddities to create both the landscape and the mythos of Everlost. I found it both clever and creative, and it undeniably adds a sense of realism -- by which I mean that the author's use of real facts and accepted beliefs make a compelling argument that if Everlost existed, it would probably be like this. Fantasy worlds...more
Ah, now here is a story! this is a trilogy to rival the glory of The Lord of the Rings, as i like to say. of course my frineds-all two of them-would find what i just tpyed incredibly nerdy. and lord of the rings isn't really a trilogy. it just made a good qoute. but these three books really are awesome. i made me wonder abotu the afterlife. and i wonder if this is where ghosts come form. are our ghosts really just the lost souls of the afterlights? but ghosts are adults as often as they are kids...more
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOKKS THAT I HAVE EVER READ! If you dont like this book then you are either crazy or are Mary Hightower! wait thats the same thing :) i have read this series 3 times and will read it soooooooo many times more. if i was stuck on a desterted island and was only allowed three books i would say EVERLOST, um, EVERWILD, and um, oh yeah EVERFOUND!!!!!!!!! THIS IS SOOOOOO AMAZING! only 2 things make the world go round, Kingdom Hearts and THIS SERIES!
This series was very well-written with a fast paced plot, excellent dialogue, lovable characters, and such a great story-line! Neal Shusterman outdone himself this time!
I love the smooth transitions and how easily I can learn to love or hate a character. I loved Everlost, this brand new world that I was introduced to, and the Afterlights (even Mary Hightower!). The ending was satisfactory, not the best but not the worst.
This series is highly recommended.

Just finished Everfound.
I can't even... I can't even write a proper review right now. I still don't know how I feel about the end.
What I do know is that this series will have a special place in my heart. That's how good it was. Seriously, these books are amazing.
Neal Shusterman is officially one of the best writers EVER.

Read this book or the Chocolate Ogre will get you! :)
I never thought I'd be interested in a series with such a creepy name. I really enjoyed these books though. There is so much happening in them and so much a person can get from the books that I feel it is a good recommendation. There are so many morals and beliefs wrapped up into one trilogy that it really made me stop and think about how I would react, if the reality in these books were my own. I gave it four stars mainly because I may read it again but I don't believe I would enjoy it as much...more

Award-winning author Neal Shusterman grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where he began writing at an early age. After spending his junior and senior years of high school at the American School of Mexico City, Neal went on to UC Irvine, where he made his mark on the UCI swim team, and wrote a successful humor column. Within a year of graduating, he had his first book deal, and was hired to write a movi...more
