Fairly decent read. A lot of people aren't going to like it because the heroine starts out hoping to get pregnant by a one night stand not meaning to ever tell the father because she can't afford to go to a sperm bank. I didn't really have a problem with it because I understand the whole baby hunger thing and we do after all need something to hang our story on. I just wish that there had been more to them falling in love. It was sort of underwhelming. The hero held on to his anger too long and t...more

Occasionally I take a virtual stroll through Amazons top free list. By occasionally, I really mean at least once a week. I have a problem. But hear me out! I have found some really good books this way. I came across A Baby Of Her Own. This book screamed to me. My main goal in life was to have a child someday. I didn’t care how or who it happened with, but it was always something I wanted. Luckily I didn’t have to go about it the way Delaney does, but I could certainly relate to her in some ways....more

I got the book free for my kindle so I tought I'd give it a try. It was a pretty quick read. The whole premise was a little much to take in. Delaney (who's only 30 years p;d by the way) feels like she's headed into spinsterhood, but wants more than anything a family. She would love to have the perfect husband and have beautiful children, but feels it's impossible in the small town of Dundee, Idaho that she currently lives in. So instead of trying to find someone to date, maybe even adopting, she...more

This was a typical fun fast Harlequin read. Delaney, a 30 year old virgin librarian spinster, decides to use a one night stand to become pregnant in order to have the baby she so desperately wants. She meets Conner in a bar in a city two hours away from her home town and does the deed. Surprise, surprise it turns out that Conner actually was on his way to her small Idaho hometown. Needless to say, Conner discovers the pregnancy as well as all of the rest of the small town. Small town politics en...more

Wow. I just can't get past what Delaney did. It was unforgivable regardless of her stellar I've never done anything wrong before history. I had a hard time believing this woman was thirty. She was beyond immature. I could rant through this entire review about the morality issues and immaturity of what Delaney did not to mention the reprecusions this act could have and did lead to but I'll move on. I couldn't blame Conner for his anger and resentment toward Delaney although to be honest the man w...more

I was disappointed. I was looking for a great romance without all the extra stuff, it was that...but it just wasn't a good read. The story had so many details but it lacked depth to the characters. Due to the authors writers ability you are able to visualize the setting, but you need more meat on the sandwich. The connection between the two was lacked chemistry. Because the physical connection between the two is not written in the book i felt you should have seen it on an emotional level so the...more

Delaney wants to have a family, the lack of husband material doesn't stop her from dreaming about children so she decides to get pregnant with a one night stand (um... dangerous!).
Rebecca, Beck Wells is the best friend who helps her with her crazy plan. But Delaney chooses Conner Armstrong, a hot guy that she picks up at a random motel bar. Turns out that it might be harder then she thinks to keep it a 'one-night-stand' when Conner ends up working on a ranch not far from her home in Dundee.

there are a lot of people bashing the heroine for her decision. well that was plain stupid and thank God for her nothing expect the baby she wanted happened (hello psycho murderers/ AIDS...). I don't condemn her. I know poeple that did worse and didn't have half the guilty conscience she has.

I don't understand the background of Coner (I keep reading connard French for a**hole. disturbing...) was is really necessary to explain his behaviour. I mean the uncles being stupid jerks to the point of ph...more

*3.5 stars

A Baby of Her Own was a cute and sweet story about a single woman, Delaney, who's afraid she'll never settle down and have a baby. So, she decides to have a one-night stand with a random guy, Conner, far from home, and ends up getting herself pregnant. Of course, problems arise when Conner ends up moving to Dundee, Delaney's hometown, and she ends up having to confront him about what she did.

It's an interesting premise, and it raises some intersting questions-- how far is a woman willi...more

I really enjoyed this book, despite having read the follow-up book a month or so earlier. Somehow I had missed that I had the first one in my Kindle library until I had already read the second. I am very much enjoying my visits to Dundee, Idaho and plan to return at a later date and see what the other residents get up to.

In these first two books of the series I've enjoyed how much a role the main characters of each the other book. It was really nice to get a good feel for how their story continu...more

Got this as a freebie on Amazon.

I actually enjoyed it. The storyline was able to keep me engrossed from start to end. My only problem was the rushed ending and the fact that the author mentioned that the love-interest looked like Hugh Jackman.

I really didn't like having his face stuck in my head while reading. He's slightly older than 31 too. I didn't feel like this gelled with that.

I now need to read the second one which I'm hoping features Delaney's best friend, Rebecca and Josh!

I haven't read a harlequin romance in years, but reading this one, I felt like I was 13 again, spending the summer at my grandparent's home in Idaho, buying a new one every couple of days!
The formula in this one was just like the ones I remember: couple meets, sparks fly, they hate each other until some kind of accident happens that makes them realize they can't live without each other. Oh, and the guy is almost always rich.
Still, it was a fun, quick read.

This Kindle freebie was okay, even good in parts, but had such an absurd start that I never took the rest of the book seriously. The reader is to believe that the small town "good girl" decides that, since she's 31 and wants a baby, it would cause less scandal to go get pregnant by a stranger than use donor sperm. Really?

Some parts of the book are well done, but I never connected with either lead and the abrupt ending didn't help.

Good old-fashioned love story. Delaney Lawson, 30 years old, small town girl, and town librarian wants a baby of her own. With no solid boyfriends in the picture, her best friend talks her into going into the big town and finding a man to make her wish come true. Delaney spends a night with Connor Armstrong and finds her world spinning out of control when she discovers she is pregnant.

I liked this book.....and I really wanted to like it more, but I felt the h/h "fell in love" without even getting to know each other. Seriously, there wasn't one part of the book that even alluded to them having an actual conversation. It was good enough to finish, but I was left feeling a bit empty and frustrated. It could have been so much better.

This was an okay read. It was quick and easy. However, I felt that the resolution came a little quickly, and I struggled a bit with the back story on the hero's mother and how he came to be. Because of the relationship with his uncles, that was clearly an important part of the story, but I felt like it wasn't really addressed except in a superficial way.

This is an oldie but a goodie, and it reminds me of why I love romance novels. It's fast, easy-to-read, fun and so well written and edited for a short novel. I closed three new books on my iPad, complaining about the writing after only two pages, then saw this author's name and knew it would be treat.
Chanpreet
This is a really sweet clean story. The whole getting pregnant on purpose part was not a trope I found enjoyable, and neither was how Conner was treated by his Uncles. The ending seemed a little hurried, but the rest of the book was great.

It was a good romance story.I enjoyed those intense chemistry between Delaney and Conner. Yes,Conner had a right to be angry with her for using him and all.I quite enjoyed reading how their love for each other evolved from being strangers to lovers. Good!:)
Tracy
I enjoyed this book. The interaction between the characters is wonderful. They are each quirky and loveable in their own way. Even though the initial idea is way "out there," the story works perfectly. I'm looking forward to more stories from Dundee.
Corinn Morrison
I'm being generous with a third star because this book was mildly entertaining and it was also free. The message of this book is simple: Trick a man into getting you pregnant and BOOM! You'll live happily ever after. *eye roll*
Virginia Rosario
The characters were well portrayed but some things were a little under developed. The romance was cute but kept behind the scenes. There really wasn't any of the juicy details that a romance novel usually has.

The biggest con:
You don't know how his business project turned out, because it wasn't given a finish. You don't know what she had a boy or a girl. So the ending was sort of "incomplete".
Dawn Bursey

I liked Connor... Just couldn't like Delaney. She went from goody two shoes who is very passive in everything the next she is aggressive then passive... Just could wrap my head around her.
Riana
Very good writing. The story pulls some emotions. I felt my heart squeeze a few times and was longing for the happy ending. What a relief that everyone came to his/her senses.
Mona
Enjoyable, sometimes aggravating in the manner of most romance novels, but I liked the characters more than I thought I would.
SandraE
For a story where the lead character purposely got pregnant from a one night stand; the story was pretty good.
Holly
It was good for a the genre it's in. A few things I was like "really ?" , but the writing was good and the plot mostly believable.
Christie

It was a shocking experience that jump-started Brenda Novak’s bestselling author career.

“I caught my day-care provider drugging my children with cough syrup and Tylenol to get them to sleep while I was away,” Brenda says. “It was then that I decided that I needed to do something from home.”

However, writing was the last profession she expected to undertake. In fact, Brenda swears she didn’t have a...more
