Celebrity Chef Sam Talbot was graciously kind to gift me an autographed copy of his book, "The Sweet Life." I had first known him from a distance, as being a celebrity in the culinary industry.

I did not know he was diabetic until he told me and quickly showed me how he regulates his sugar levels in person. I haven't flipped through a diabetic cookbook in a long time and I'm glad I made the exception for this one. His real life stories of living with Type 1 sat as genuine with me- I could completely relate and therefore accept his food, exercise and living suggestions readily. On top of that, the recipes are inspired. He uses fresh and local ingredients as they are in season: those are my goals totally. This book is an interesting mix of inspirational life experiences of a chef with type 1 diabetes and awesome recipes! Really enjoyed reading this book and learned a lot along the way. I added a few of his healthy and yummy recipes to my list.

Good read. Many good recipes I can't wait to try. I liked the fact that this wasn't just a cookbook; there was plenty of wisdom and inspiration to go around as well. Worth a look-at, especially if you're in the market for some good, diabetic-friendly recipes.

Part cookbook part inspirational, life affirming read. There are some wonderful recipes as well as great advice.
Whether or not yo have diabetes ( I do not) this book is worth the space on your kitchen shelves!
