Loved this book! Thanks to the author for sending me a copy of it! I love how the characters have both gone through the difficulty of losing their spouse and how both had to deal with it in different ways. Mitchel was left to care for his infant daughter after his wife died. Over the past few years he has had to watch his child suffer with an unknown illness. He needs a teacher for his mission school and help comes in the form of his close friend's sister, Anne. Anne wishes to keep herself close...more
Not normally a genre I'd pick up, but this one was well written. Set in a mission in the Oregon Territory, this follows the story of a widow, Anne Simm's, and her new life. Mitchel Banning is a widower with a toddler, Hope, and the child's existence is a source of great pain to Anne as she has also lost a child.
Watching Anne overcome her desire to keep Hope at arms length as she comes to understand that she feels something for Mitchel, was interesting indeed. The shift from pain to love is well...more

Anne lost her husband and infant daughter so she wanted to start a new life and went to the Oregon territory in place of her brother to teach at a mission school. Mitchell had lost his wife and had an ill daughter who needed care. It was very hard for Anne to even look at another baby! Both Anne and Mitchell had been lonely souls. This was an excellent read and yet a rewarding one!
