I forgot how much I liked this book. I stumbled on it years ago when I was googling the 1940's movie and thought what the heck. I think I pieced them together from thrift shops, the whole collection. There are the seven Randolph bros, but I think it also follows their kids or cousins. I might still have the paperbacks in box in my garage, but seeing them on amazon, I bought the first 4 in the series to try to re-read them since I remember enjoying them ages ago.

It's is the first in the series a...more

George has returned to his family after the war and is now trying to get his family together.George admires Rose for her courage to live in a town where the people treat her badly and how she faces them day in and day out.

He doesn't expect to hire Rose when she answers his ad. Afterall, her father was on the opposing side during the War.But he does hire her. The impact Rose has on his family is obvious, and funny at times, not the laugh out loud kind.descriptionRose was a nice Heroine and a woman who knows...more

Not usually one for Westerns, I’d picked up this book during a long weekend break, expecting to be slightly bored. Not so! Leigh Greenwood writes a great epic romance, but also packs quite a series of adventures, so you’re left panting after the plot.

First published in June 2005 by Leisure Books (Dorchester Publishing), Rose heads up the book series of seven brides for seven brothers. Apart the name of that famous musical/film/TV series, the Seven Brides series has nothing to do with Stephen Vin...more

I really enjoyed this take on 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. American Texas Historical and a bit emo, but it worked for me. I can't wait to read more!

I'm a huge fan of the musical and I enjoyed what was the same and what was changed. Here are my lists:

What was the same
-7 brothers with unusual names alone on a homestead, living in filth
-historical
-lone woman comes from nearby town to keep house for them all, falls in love with the oldest brother, helps civilize them all
-upends table on first night, spi...more

I like romantic westerns, there's something primal about cowboys that does it for me...anyway, I liked it a lot.
Rose, a outcast Yankee by the people of Austin, is the chosen to become the house cleaner at a ranch with seven brothers with a severe lack of everything and a powerful hate for the Yankees...
The way things were after the war, the resentment and the abandonment issues as well as the angst that comes with rebuilt everything from scratch, is all here.
The heroine, Rose, is young but stro...more

★★★★✩ I wasn’t crazy about this one at the beginning. There was a scene that was a complete rip-off from the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (one of my favorite movies, the best scene) where the heroine (view spoiler)[turns the table over on the brothers due to them acting like pigs (hide spoiler)]. However, given that the name of the title of this series is Seven Brides, I quit rolling my eyes and enjoyed George and Rose’s story. Plus, there weren’t any more rip-offs; this...more

When Rose Thornton sees the advertisement for a cook for six men, she decides to take George Randolph on his offer, after he rescues her one day at work. So not realizing what she was in for, she goes to the homestead and was shocked to see what she would have to deal with, concerning the Randolph men. When she arrives, the place is a pigsty, and wonders how any of them could live like this. There is George, the oldest. Then there is Jeff, the twins: Monty and Hen, Tyler, and the younger and sti...more
Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress
Rose has her work cut out for her, taking on this family of seven brothers, one who will soon her husband. And George is not going to be an eager husband. The Randolph brothers are as wild and rowdy as seven brothers can get. George is a little old before his time, trying to save the family ranch that went downhill when the oldest brothers went off to fight in the War Between the States. He returns to a mess and a dying mother. He can't run a ranch and raise his youngest siblings. The only answe...more

It all started when I asked myself whether there were romances written by men. (I know it's a stupid question! I mean, why not?)

I found this series. I read the reviews on goodread and decided that I had to read it.

I don't know if it makes sense, but it seemed to me that Greenwood's writing was less judgmental than the writing of some female authors.

Rose is the perfect balance between delicate femininity and strength.
George wrongly believes his father's past is intended to be his destiny and refu...more

It was written by a man & surprisingly it was very good, one of the best books I've read in a long time. It may not have had a lot of sex scenes but it was a very emotionally intense book you could laugh with, cry with it, feel the pain/turmoil the characters were experiencing. I enjoyed the antics of the boys, they were funny. I fell in love with the Randolph family. I would love to get a hold of and read the remaining books in the series.

I have huge dislike for books that have continuous internal conflicting and contradicting emotions and thoughts. This book went on and on that almost made me give up few times. The plot itself was interesting and i would have given it extra star if the main characters were not driving me mad sometimes with stupid internal conflicts that seem like it would never end and emotional tides.

Wow. What an intriguing story. I was pleasantly surprised at how well I liked it. The heroine wasn't the least bit annoying as I've found to be the case in most books by Greenwood. It felt like there was something missing in the hero; I can't even begin to name what it was. But, all in all, I liked the story, loved the characters—especially Hen—found the conflict interesting, and while the ending felt a little forced, I even liked it.

Love this series...7 Brothers, sound familiar?! It is similar to the 7 Brides for 7 Brothers movie! Especially this first book. But it adds all the fun WESTERN History...which is hard for me to read otherwise, without the romance and adventure, I mean:)
I abhore the book covers on some of these...they look like "smut" and are soooo NOT!!

I had a difficult time getting through this book. The story line was pretty decent, however, because there are so many brothers, it took me awhile to get all the names straight (a long time). I got tired of Jeff's constant whining and bitterness. His complete unwillingness to accept and forgive Rose, and honestly, she didn't do anything to deserve it. He completely got on my nerves. Since this appears to be a series, I guess I will skip to his book because I am, at this point, not interested in...more

I love old west romance but I had a hard time finishing this book. All in all, I just couldn't get caught up in this story. I liked Rose but thought the hero, Geroge, was just kinda boring. I found the other characters, Geroge's brothers, much more interesting and since this is the first book in the series this author has written a book for each of them. I picked up think book intending to read the entire series, but I don't think I will end up reading any other of the Seven Brides books.
Carla
I'm rereading this series... Rose was never my favorite, she and George are just not as interesting as the brothers' books.
