(current rating 5 though not finished yet.) Every time I take up this book, I am amazed at how thoroughly articulate and modern this guy is. He talks about real life while keeping his eyes on (and drawing your attention to) the essential things and their roots in tradition.

I would recommend the book even to non-Jews interested in understanding the meaning of the Jewish holidays, and some of the crazy stuff we do during them.

For the Jewish class that my fiancee and I are taking: her to convert, and me as a refresher.

Greenberg, at least back when he wrote this, is a little strict for me. Nothing in the Torah can ever just be "it was aimed at a different audience" back then, one must come up with great rationalizations. Part of the fun of our religion, to a point, but it can be taken too far.
Very informative read about the Jewish Holidays. I continue to reference this book.
I'm enjoying this book as a way to learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, and history.
