So first formal thoughts and all that jazz: I liked it, i thought that it was a very interesting read with original ideas, and its a book that won't leave you bored and waiting for something to happen. The characters are interesting and fun to read. The romance is budding but there...slightly. This was hard for me to rate because as much as i liked it there were quite a few things that i wanted more from or things to change. i'll explain later on.

2.5 I probably should round this up to 3 stars but truthfully I am not feeling that generous after I reached the 'ending'. I might go back and edit this review later because I am still steaming off my reading experience.
This is a free download off goodreads. I decided to take a chance on the story/author.
To say that I did not enjoy the story is the best most polite thing that I can do right now.
I could pick this story a part, piece by piece and yet that would be no good to anyone.

Lizzy was kind enough to give me the books in this series to read and review, and I must say I wasn't disappointed (I'm never disappointed with Lizzy's work). She has a great talent and Rhyn was he's a beast (metaphorically and literally), the dialogue between the characters is memorable and so aren't the characters themselves. "You could've asked me for anything in the universe and you ask me to babysit a human." Katie is a take no crap kind of girl, and she speaks her mind. "Your shit is every...more
I have to admit I read this book in one setting! It began a little slowly and at some points it was choppy and a little hard to follow but that was soon all cleared up. From the time we are introduced to Katie, our heroine, the book takes off at full speed and it is a wonderful ride!! I had to laugh out loud at Katie's introduction scene! It definitely reminded me of a situation I would be in. Little does Katie know her day is about to go from bad to worse! A child she doesn't remember having sh...more
Paranormal romance isn't something I'd normally pick up, but the blurb about being lumbered with a mysterious child intrigued me and the first chapter or two, with Katie trying to work out how she has suddenly become the mother of a five-year-old, sucked me in.
The book feels very much like an introduction to a series: it's setting a scene rather than advancing the story. I didn't really like the way everyone seemed to be drinking Katie's blood all the time - surely the poor woman had none left b...more

This is the first Lizzy Ford book that I have read, and I have to say I was pretty much sucked into the story from the first. The basic plot premise has been rehashed in enough of the other reviews that I don't think I need to do that here, so I will just say that I enjoyed the story. My one complaint was that this was supposed to be the first in the series and yet there was so much backstory being given that it read more like book 2 or 3. I had some problems with Katie's character. As a previou...more
I think that parenting makes your humor shift a bit, because I'm sorry but I died laughing at the beginning of this book. First Katie gets pulled over by a cop on her way to work at the ungodly hour of around 4:30 am. She was speeding(37 in a 35) and had a tail light out. This really tickled me because after the officer was through with her she had a lot of charges and an extremely expensive ticket. It wasn't funny that she got all of these charges, it was funny because something like this would...more

Hmmmmm this was a really hard book to rate. The first 60% of the book I found myself wanting to put it down and give up. Barely anything got explained properly and I got sick of Katie being a hysterical mess. It also takes ages for Katie and Rhyn to even meet, and when they do he's some rabid beast who torments her through prison cell bars even after she's basically had her throat torn out by his sadistic brother. His other brother Kris also annoyed me to no end, he was such an ass.

Sometimes you come across a book which you just cannot put down. Doesn't matter what you're doing you think about it and are desperate to get back to it. With some books you expect this. The cover, the blurb and the title are all kinds of awesome and you just know you're gonna be in for a treat. What's even better though is when you don't expect it, and the awesomeness comes out of nowhere.
Katie's Hellion, to me, is one of those books.

I’m going to go with eehhh. Let’s be honest here, I got this book for my kindle because it was free. Don’t let that cloud your opinion of it; it’s actually not a bad fantasy novel, so far as self-insert female leads go. I say this, because it is clearly what Katie was written to be, or at least I hope she was; a character that flat can only hope to be a one-size-fits-all girl, especially when coupled with a man for whom she cannot contain her overwhelming lust. A staple, so far as I am concerned...more
I couldn't put this book down. It was remarkably good. In fact, I haven't read anything by Lizzy Ford before but I'm ready to throw myself wholeheartedly into her older books to see what else she can come up with.
I liked the mythology created - seven immortal brothers who should be the defenders of humanity. One has aligned himself with the Dark One and one has been imprisoned as his his brother's plaything for hundreds of thousands of years. Tortured and kept in hellish confinement, Rhyn has pr...more

This book was gifted to me for an honest review. Thank You!
Gabriel, lover to Death, helped sentence his friend Rhyn to Hell for something he didn't deserve. Death says that Rhyn will have to die to save humanity but that a woman destined to be his mate can change his fate. Gabriel delivers Rhyn his immortal powers and a book on how to care for humans.

Loved this book!! The only catch about this book is you really have to read at least half of it to really get sucked into this interesting world of immortals. I was frustrated in the beginning because I really was kind of confused taking in this whole new world. The immortals are not your typical "vampires" or "werewolves" or whatever. The author Lizzy Ford really creates something new and interesting and I think that the reason it takes so long for the plot to really begin is because the reader...more

When I had first seen/ heard of this book, I wasn't sure if I would like it. I felt this way from the cover and reading the summary, but I decided that it was by the amazing Lizzy Ford so I would give it a shot. At first, I ought it would be an adult book but then I decided its more New Adult. It doesn't have too many inappropriate or graphic scenes. Lizzy Ford just has this amazing way with words. This was a free down load on Amazon and I'm not quite sure what I made of it.
The story has been outlined by other reviewers with Katie finding herself as Toby's "mum' one day out of the blue. It turns out that he's really a cuckoo in the nest aka at 40,000 year old angel, who's still a precocious kid. This then leads on to Katie discovering the world of the Ancients and the leader of the ancients Kris, thinks that she's his destined mate. She gets kidnapped, taken to hell and whilst there is to...more

“Three and a half stars: An engaging kick off to a new Urban Fantasy series.
Katie is hurriedly trying to get to work on time. Her continual tardiness puts her current job in jeopardy. A cop pulls her over for going two miles an hour over the speed limit. Then the pompous jerk writes her up for taking sleeping pills the night before and a broken taillight. Now she is not only on the verge of losing her job but her license as well. Katie's Hellion, though difficult to muddle through at first, did pick up after a little bit of reading. It was fascinating to read about Lizzy Ford's version of the underworld and the immortal world as well as how she got the mortal world to tie into it. A few pages in is a plot twist, though extensive to the rest of the book and I'm sure the series, was extremely difficult to get through and was quite confusing I found. The addition of a new character whom you don't see much of for the rest o...more

When I started this book I was already in love with Lizzy Ford’s Witchling Trilogy and I would have never imagined there was a possibility Rhyn might take its place as my favourite LF book series. I read the book in two days, something I rarely manage to do, since I am in the final year of highschool and have a lot of studying to do.

Another really good entry from Lizzy Ford. The more I read her stuff the more I like it.
This is the first of a trilogy. This book is setting the stage; we have good character development and an interesting plot.
Others have said that the story starts off slow...I would not say it starts off slow as much as I would say that this is a book that could have a LOT of depth of characters written or added in.
And I have a feeling that is what book 2 and 3 are for. I suspect we will not get full closure...more

I liked it! It was a bit odd in the beginning for me, but I got into the story line. It's an age-old plot basis about the ever-present battle between good and evil. Honestly, it's the first book that's categorized as a "fantasy" book that I've liked, and finished. The 2nd book won't be out until next month...wondering where it'll take Rhyn, Katie, Kris, and all the other characters.
I first of course want to say thanks for the chance to read and review a new book from a first-reads giveaway. I am a little torn on how many stars to give this book. Let me start with a positive. I like the strength of our main guy Rhyn. He is honorable (in an oddish way), strong, complex, handsome and very tall. This character takes awhile to understand. First I thought he was just a good guy whose misunderstood and done some little wrongs. He actually is a lot more evil and good at the same t...more
The only thing that kept this from getting a 1 star rating was that I kept reading it. The writing was abysmal and immature. I rolled my eyes several times per page. The characters and plot were not developed enough and she really needs to spend more time building her world or at least explaining it better. There was something that kept me reading however. It might just be that it was a unique premise and I wanted to see where she was going with it. I wanted to like her main character but I just...more
Excellent. It's refreshing to see a story plot that's unique.
I found Katie's Character to be quite strong, especially when facing all the changes to her world as she knows it, and then going to Hell...from there, the book turns into one heck of a Roller coaster ride.
Rhyn's Character is also a strong, tortured, vengeful Ancient, who is considered by his family to be Evil, but Katie sees a man/Ancient that deserves a second chance.

"I respect the Code. Doesn’t mean I always have to follow it." love Rhyn's character he seemed to care to no one but still end up helping everyone eventhough they think of him as low creature.

This is the first book I've read by Lizzy Ford, I must say I really enjoyed her writing and this series has left me wanting to go read all of her books.

(2.5 stars) "Katie's Hellion" is one of those books that leaves you feeling unsure exactly how you feel about it. Initially, I was bored and not sure whether or not I would even complete it. The initial story line is very convoluted and just did not work or interest me. Then, after the herione finally meets the hero, the story began to grow on me a bit. Just when I began enjoying the story, the book ended. I was frustrated and angry. If it had not been for the author's additional preview of the...more

Things are not looking good for her, and when she is claimed as the mate of the worst of all demons, Rhyn, things seem to have gone from bad to worse.
