It's about a tiger who becomes sad and meets a turtle. Ever think a little thought that can make you really upset? Whenever you think that nobody likes you, that nobody cares, you find out, soon, as soon as you meet a turtle, that there are lots of people that like you.
A fun, kid-friendly book to flesh out the CBT concept of thought-stopping. As an elementary school counselor who works with anxiety, I think this is a wonderful resource to help kids understand the power of their thoughts in influencing how they feel and react. I will be using this in an anxiety group!

Beautiful story of a little Tiger who is very sad about ordinary life troubles until he meets Turtle who asks him the questions related to The Work, Byron Katie's brilliant self-inquiry method. I love the concept of this book: a simplified CBT to help young kids deal with difficult feelings and bad thoughts. The illustrations suggest a young target audience (I guess, 4-7), but the language is so wordy and awkward that it's too tricky for this age group. For example: "how does it feel if you are not thinking the thought that nobody cares and nobody likes you?" Even I had to read that a couple of times! This is one of the most powerful and simple children's stories I have ever read. To think that a thought can be so powerful and emotional and could be dissipated by simply thinking whether its truly true, whether it's possible to know if it's truly true, how we react we we believe the thought, and who would we be without it is revolutionary. I don't remember how I first came across this title, but it is essentially a kids' version of "The Work" (which I'm not at all familiar with), and seems vaguely like cognitive behavioral therapy. I haven't read it to a kid yet, so don't know how they would react, but it seems overly abstract to me. A & I loved this book -- and have already put the story's ideas to work for her. I think it may be too complex for kids under 6 and maybe some still between 6-8. But A gets it and I've been able to refer to it as a working example of how she can think about various situations... and how the power of her thoughts about the world... that with them she chooses to make the world and her a life a place that she loves (or not).

This awesome little self-help book is for children and adults ,i love the four questions and their power to change our thoughts from sad to happy ,I think it's very important for children to get these concepts at a young age to realize the power of their thoughts and how they impact their feelings ,relationships and everything around them.
Brilliant book ,I recommend it for Everyone :)
The main point of this book is that are problems are not caused by events or things or other people. Our problems are caused by our thoughts about things....definitely something not only children, but adults need to learn.

Unsure about this one. The wording is awfully clunky, but I see why it's done that way. If this comes from an evidence-based approach to dealing with negative feelings in the picture book age group, I could see this as worth advertising. Otherwise, maybe not.

Mentioned by somebody doing the same MOOC as me when we were discussing self-compassion. Quite a sweet book but maybe a bit complicated for very young children
