Man, it feels like forever since I’ve posted a review. Life has just been hectic lately. But fear not, I will never give up reading/reviewing. I started this book because my baby sister has been singing its praises and quite honestly, I saw that the first one was free on Amazon and figured I had nothing to lose. I had seen this book before, but the cover didn’t really grab my attention and I don’t like downloading books I’m not sure I want to read. Well..that’s not entirely true, I download WAY...more
I got this book for free from the iBookstore, and I have to say it was definetelly worth the download. I've had some bad experiences with free Ebooks, they are usually not really worth reading. Luckely this one was worth it unquestionably. The book takes draws you in from the start and it's hard or maybe even impossible to put it away once you start reading.

This short book starts with 16 year old Harper moving to Stepford, sorry, I mean Peachville, because she has powers that she can't control that no one wants to admit they know about.
She moves there and quickly finds out that the town is split between the perfect and beautiful ... and the rest of them. She doesn't fit in as she lives in the Shadowford home, until some magic mojo is performed which suddenly affects her memory and her whole ability to judge people on who they are.

I got this as a kindle freebie, for that I am glad...
I personally thought this book was shallow and they characters within it didn't have any depth.
The story also came of as very vain... Poor girl changing everything about herself to join Peachville elite.
====MOCK HARPER POV====
"Last week you were being rude and mean to me and now you being all nice, why?" I ask.
"I realise it was wrong to treat you differently just because your poor without a family and live at Shadowford. There's something spec...more

This book was another Kindle freebie, yet it was definitely worth it. It was a quick, light read, but it still had a good plot with plenty of twists and it ended on a cliff-hanger.
The characters were consistent and Harper was easy to empathise with, as she was kind of clever and talented without being over-perfect. She still made mistakes, but not to the degree of unbelievable stupidity some characters in other books are.

I literally just finished this book and want to pick up the next in the series (and probably the one after that and the one after that until I finish the entire thing!).
Sarra Cannon did an amazing job bringing to life Harper Madison, a foster kid who has special abilities. When she moves to Peachville, not everything is as it seems, which Madison soon finds out. I wondered what happened when things went from bad to perfect for Harper, but I definitely didn't see the end coming! OMG! Wow! That ju...more

I wasn't sure what to expect of this one right out of the gates. I had heard it was about "evil cheerleaders" and thought to myself...hmmm, how bad can it really be?This book was a whirlwind of activity from the beginning.

Beautiful Demons has all the elements to be a great book. An orphaned girl with a strange ability, a new town with a secret to hide, the rebel boy trying to stay out of it all, and of course the eerily perfect cheerleaders who run the school. With this novel being as short as it is, I think we missed out a lot on the connections and personality of the novel.

“Harper Madison. Sixteen years old. Adopted at birth by Heath and Jill Madison of Gwinnett County, Georgia. At the age of eight, your adoptive father was killed in a house fire. A fire that Jill Madison claims you started on purpose.”

This was a surprisingly short book. It’s what I call a candy floss read – quick, straightforward, and to the point. Don’t get me wrong though. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s filled with endless plot twists and keeps you guessing right up until the end, and still leaves a lot more to be continued in the next book of this series.

BEAUTIFUL DEMONS by Sarra Cannon
BEAUTIFUL DEMONS is a short story focusing on Harper Madison- a 16year old girl who has been in the foster care system since she was a young child. 6 placements in one year had finally taken its’ toll on her caseworker, so Harper was being shipped to Shadowford Plantation-a ‘home’ for special cases. And Harper knew she was a special case-damaged / a broken girl as Mrs. Shadowford exclaimed. And the only thing close to Harper’s heart was a sapphire pendant given to...more

i admit it, i wasn't expecting a whole lot from a book with the premise "demonic cheerleaders" other than some entertainment while i was in the car for a few hours. boy, was i surprised! not only was this book engaging, clever and well-paced, the story hooked me and i'm now on book three in the series. what i like the most about this is that every time you think you know what might happen or where the story is going to go, it surprises you with a twist or two and shakes things up in a very belie...more

You know you're in the wrong town when a random dude helps you (commands you?) to pick out a backpack that sports the same colors as everyone else.

Beautiful Demons pulls you in from the first page and never lets down in the pacing. It's a fast and very entertaining read. I've been wanting to read this series for a while, because of the pretty covers and titles. Currently Beautiful Demons is available for free, but I don't know how long that will last.

I really liked this book. I went into it not really expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. First off, I really love the cover, it's simplistic, and very pretty. No complaints there.
The second thing I really liked about it was the main character, Harper. Harper's a sixteen year old orphan in the foster care system in Georgia. She's scared, has power she doesn't understand, and has a habit of hurting her foster families when she's upset. This resonated with me because I was raised by my...more

Wow. So 2012 is starting off with a bit of a bang isn't it? The first book I read was slightly lackluster, but this, my fifth book of the year, was absolutely stunning. I'm giving it five stars without reservation. Have I mentioned that this was my first ever eBook?
This book is definitely a plot driven book. It's more about the twists and turns of it all than it is about its characters. In fact, the only fleshed out, or character with beginnings of being fleshed out, is Harper. Harper is a prett...more

Was a surprising read and a good series opener you are left with quite a few questions as to what is really going on such as why can't Harper remember anything having to do with hottie Jackson and how did her opinion on cheerleading change so drasticly and what is a Prima? Those are only a few of the questions tat I want answered.
Now onto the story Harper has been in so many different foster homes that she has lost count if she can't make it work at Shadowford Home she will be going to Juvenile...more

Not sure if I like this book or hate it. Like Harper in the beginning I've never liked cheerleaders all snobby and full of themselves. The popular kids were mostly rich and stuck up. So for her to lose her memory cause of some water and a secret ritual and being this Prima she all of a sudden gets invited to the pop group and wants to become a cheerleader without asking more questions and being more suspicious is crazy. Who would allow someone to give them a tattoo willy nelly and not resist a l...more

This wasn't exactly what I expected. It was far from it, actually.
I went into this book knowing I'd get mad, and a little confused. But I didn't expect to be mind-blown.
I am very upset with the ending, because, well...I like Jackson better. In alll honesty I hope drake dies or something terrible happens to him, because...well HE ISN'T JACKSON!!!

Harper has been kicked out of her second to last foster home. If she can't make things work at Shadowford, a home for "troubled" girls, her social worker has promised her a quick trip to juvie. Determined to finally make a home and finish a school year in the same place that she starts, Harper is on her best behavior. But her past comes back to haunt her when the head cheerleader meets a grisly death. The issue? The girl was killed by something that very much resembles the power Harper has tried...more

Harper Madison has been shipped from foster care home to foster care home since she was 10 years old. Known as a troubled child with violent tendencies she’s never spent enough time in one place to ever feel a sense of belonging. Strange things happen around Harper, especially when Harper feels threatened or scared and those strange things usually end up with someone being hurt. Although Harper has never intentionally hurt anyone she is blamed just the same and Harper carries the guilt, shame an...more

Whenever I see 99 cent e-books from Amazon.com I become a little nervous. Sometimes they are good and other times they are pretty bad. However, I've seen "Beautiful Demons" listed for a little while now and decided to give it a chance. The premise seemed a little different and I was extremely pleased with the writing, characterizations, world building and plot. It has been a long time since I read a YA book that intrigued me as much as some of my favorites like Morganville Vampires.

I thought this was an excellent book about Harper who has been moved around so much from foster care to foster care due to strange things happen when she gets upset. As a last chance she is sent Shadowford home for girls and starts high school at Peschville where the cheerleaders are the most popular girls in the school. As she tries to settle in and befriends anges one of the girls at the home she has a bad first day at school and is called a freak. Harper doesn't know what is all important wit...more

I can't say enough good things about this series. While they're relatively quick reads, Sarra has crafted a believeable world rich in magic and romance. The writing is solid across all four books currently available (Rival Demons, Book 5, is slated to come out in November!). The characters feel very real, and the dialogue is never stiff, as it's turned out in a handful of other YA stories I've read. While each novel can stand as a complete story, the overall plot blooms naturally throughout the...more
