This is a good romantic suspense book. What it's not is a good BDSM book. To me, this falls into the rather unfortunate genre of "BDSM books written by vanilla folks, for vanilla folks" (a category coined recently by Kitty Thomas). A content warning would have been appreciated

By the description of this book I thought this to be an erotic contemporary romance between a male and female. There is no indication whatsoever in the blurb that this story would be anything other than a male/female exclusive relationship.

For the first erotic romance I've ever read, I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I'm a follower of Roni's Fiction Groupie blog, so I knew I'd enjoy her writing style going into this, but I simply could not put this book down (or rather, I had to for real life and wish I hadn't had to). 4 1/2 stars. Full disclosure - I "met" Roni online, and have hosted her on my blog. So I was disposed to like her work from the get-go. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how deliciously hot I found this book.

I felt nervous about the BDSM angle novel, but the connection between Reid and Brynn carried me through. Call me a prude, but spanking/whipping doesn't do it for me, even in its mildest forms.

I believe this is Roni Loren’s first novel – can’t find any others – and it’s an accomplished debut and the first of a series.

It’s BDSM romantic suspense in a similar vein to Cherise Sinclair’s novels but a bit lighter on the sex scenes and a little heavier on the suspense – other than that, I feel comparisons would be wrong as this writer definitely has her own style.

Good read! Though there was a BDSM club involved and D/s scenes it kind of felt like BDSM lite to me. The characters were well developed, both main and secondary. Developed enough that I'll happily purchase the 2nd book that deals with the hero's best friend.

The mystery kind of got lost within the personal conflicts and issues of the main characters, there was a rather huge secret revealed near the end of the book that didn't get the build up or page attention you would expect.

When I first decided that I should just write my own porn last spring, Roni Loren's blog was one of the first I found that dealt specifically with writing "erotic" books. She does a lot of social networking, the 101 advice on her blog is solid, and I figured, what the hell? At least she can spell. Spelling is important. This is the debut novel of Roni Loren and by how well-written and nicely flowing the story was I would never have guessed that this was Ms. Loren's first book. OMG. The reviews are right, this is a hot one. If I wouldn't have been reading it on my tablet, I would have been fanning myself with the book. I've only read one other book this steamy, but that one did not have much of a storyline to go with it, which was disappointing. This book, however, has a great plot and I love how the author goes back and forth in time to tell Brynn and Reid' story. I can't believe we have to wait until July for her next one--Jace's story, yum!
