Just a few quick comments...
The story was so good a couple sexytimes were speedbumps for me - Fade to black! I want the story! Inked Magic has suspense, a fascinating heroine, sexy mob boss' son who want to stay out of the family business, a mysterious and sexy Elven lord, an interesting and disturbing serial rapist, one ménage à trois scene(just look at the book cover), and a compelling sub-plot involving a teen girl (mob boss' daughter) who was drugged and gang-raped.

3.5 Stars for the plotline and the story. This was a really good book; I was both pleased and surprised. My only other experience in reading this author was somewhat less than satisfactory. This one worked for me, however. It was part thriller and part PNR, and both of them worked well in the story. The part that didn’t work so well for me was the sex. There was just way too much of it, and it detracted from an otherwise really enjoyable story. They were always talking about sex, planning sex, h...more

Color me surprised when I finished Inked Magic and realized I liked it. :) I knew Ms Strong wrote erotica even when dressing as a different genre (see Ghostland) and did not expect this novel to be that much.

Let us be clear: it still has lots of sex, but the plot, the world-building and the characters were good. Nothing was flat, except for sex maybe. :O But then I'm not into menage, nor sex with strangers.
The villains weren't cardboard-ly evil (yes there's more than one) nor the cop...more

My friend let me borrow a copy of this book because she thought I would be interested in the threesome scene. Those were the expectations I had when I started reading this book.

Inked Magic made a decent attempt at a plot that didn't revolve entirely around sex. However, the characters spent so much time thinking about sex, having sex, or wondering when they were going to have sex next, that there were times it was difficult to remember that Etain had growing magical powers or that there was a r...more

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Dark and sensual tale about a magical tattooist and the two men who want her.

Opening Sentence: Fog turned the cemetery into shades of black and gray.

The Review:

Etaín is as exotic as her name implies. She is a strong, independent woman and a gifted tattoo artist. She also has the rare ability to read memories and emotions via skin. This ability makes her an invaluable asset to her brother in the FBI by helping get information from traumatized...more

I recognized this author's name while browsing for the cart, and sure enough, I've read her stuff before. And what I said then still applies: interesting premise, bogged down by too much sex. This story was better than Ghostland by a long shot, yet it could have been amazing if the author somehow curbed her enthusiasm for moist, hungry places getting filled.

The main characters were more or less intriguing, but could have been better developed. My spidey sense tells me we may get that in a sequel...more

Like intertwined vines of ivy Strong has woven together elements of paranormal, fantasy, magic and romance. Each holding part of the story in their own way, but when combined create something new and irresistible. Inked Magic is so much more than an erotica book. The story line is rich and deep enough to keep you entranced, it just gets broken up with steamy scenes every now and then.

There is so much more to Etaín than we have been shown, even more than she herself knows. There is a lot of story...more

My Review:
I will admit, even after finishing this book, there is a lot about this world that I still don't think I understand. The beginning of this book drops you right into the story and there are a lot of characters in this story to keep track of. As a result, I found myself floundering trying to keep track of who was who at the beginning. At one point during the middle of the book, I even went back and re-read the first couple of chapters just to clear up exactly how the chain of events happ...more

I like it when I pick a book without a recommendation and turns out to be a great read! I haven’t heard anything for “Inked Magic” by Jory Strong and I picked it because I just wanted a good book to pass some time. At first, I was curious to see how a tattoo artist, a mob boss’ son and an Elven Lord can be combined in a paranormal romance book but the result was very good!

Magic, rapists and ménages a trois are the main themes in this book. Two men want the same woman and this woman wants a norma...more

I've liked a lot of Jory's books when she was publishing at Ellora's Cave so I thought that her works would translate fairly well over to the more mainstream publisher; that her work would have a bit more story to it. And while this book did have some more story it still focused more on the sex and in a very graphic manner with frank language.

The idea of Etain being with two such different men (a mafia Don's Son/nephew and and Elven Lord) was unique. I wish that they had tried to make it (their...more

I picked this up knowing it was going to be a Romance and a love triangle. Sometimes a girl just wants to read that. But this book was so frustrating! It had all these great elements: girl discovering her powers, mafioso guy with family issues, sneaky/powerful Elf guy, creepy bad guy dropped from an episode of Criminal Minds, and a pretty decent story. I don't think the Romance spoiled it too bad, because it was a little sketchy and light. Everyone was an Alpha who didn't want to give an inch. B...more

An intriguing story but I felt like it was missing some important details. You can find Lexi's 4-Star review of this title at Reading Between the Wines

This book is full of excitement, magic, discoveries, mystery, amazingly hot characters (including the females), was full of hot sex, was hard to let go of and left me wanting MORE! Jory, you now have a new fan :)

I'm big into ink. But even if I was not Inked Magic would of had my full attention. It's so very well written, the attention to detail is amazing and the story with it's touch of magic is gripping. I loved the heroin Etain. She is definitely my new favorite. She's strong, independent, se...more

Intense, original and extremely sexy! That's what you can expect to find in Jory Strong's new novel, Inked Magic. It captured my interest from the beginning and held it throughout the entire book.

Etain has a most unique ability. She can read skin, she can feel what others are feeling when she touches them and she can also see into their past. She's never known that she was part of a supernatural group, or how to control her ability, until her talents ar...more

I liked this book but didn't love it. I loved the lead female character. Etain is a strong independent female. The 2 men in her life I also liked. Liked not loved. I wanted so much more from this threesome and it just didn't give it to me. Also editing was an issue here. In the midde of reading a sentence words are missing. If the book is good enough I can over look it but not with this one. I just got aggravated! There is a lot going on with this book Between the lead female, her men, her broth...more

I wasn't sure about this book but by the time I finished it last night I really enjoyed it.
It's the start of the series and I know that I'll be getting the next.
There is definitely more to come, if there isn't I will be really pissed because the whole relationship with them all was left kinda hanging for me.
I really wasn't sure about getting this book because I have Ghostland by Jory Strong and haven't been able to finish reading it yet. Not that it's bad but at the time I was reading it just...more

A Supernatural Thriller that's sure to satisfy!

Etain was born with the magical ability to absorb memory. An attractive young man named Eamon shows up to help her deal with her ability, but her affections are torn between him and another man named Cathal. They both have their pros and cons, and they'll all need to work together (and maybe more) in order to solve the mystery of a criminal called the Harlequin Rapist.

The world building is absolutely fantastic. The character's relationships are layer...more

Romance and urban fantasy readers, if you like your books steamy you should definitely give Inked Magic a try. Inked Magic is full of intrigue, magic, and sizzling hot smexy scenes making this a book I didn't want to put down.

Etain has a gift, when she touches people, she can see their memories and feel their emotions. Through her art, she can help people remember loved ones or even give them strength to better their lives. Etain had a tough life growing up. Her mother left her with a man she on...more

I really liked the premise of this one. Etain has the ability to see what has happened to people when she touches them. She uses this ability to help the police when they are stuck and have no where else to go, but this ability comes at a great cost to her physically.

Of course it doesn't hurt that in the space of a few hours she meets 2 really hot men. Cathal and Eamon couldn't be more different, but their desire for her is the same. I found it interesting that they both wanted her right away,...more

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway, review below:

I haven't read many erotic novels but the ones I have read are just sex with no real exceptional storyline. I have to say that this book was different because even if you took the sex out you'd still have an interesting and captivating read. I haven't read any previous books by this author but now I might just have to go and pick some up if they're as good as this one.

What caught my eye about this story was elves and magic but there's also a...more

Loved the book. Loved the world that Ms Strong created ... From Fae to Gangsters to the most of the poor and yet integrated them wonderfully.

I just wished that the relationship between Etian, Cathal and Eamon developed a bit more but I hope that means that there is a next book.

You would not be disappointed in this one. Not your normal Menage but it is gearing up to be a great relationship.

A very cool and unique story by Jory Strong! I loved that the heroine has two hunky men vying for her favors- is a tattoo artist by day and by night she has to somehow get a handle on her mysterious power that is starting to mutate into something else.

Definitely worth picking up and checking out! I will for sure pick up the next one in the series!

Pretty great story, I felt the author left out too much at the end, but apparently it's for book two. The characters had really great chemistry but it was hard for me to read about two different men having her the way they did. Literally minutes apart then she was with the other man. Still a good read and I'd definitely do book two.

If I'd known this ended on a cliffhanger, I would not have put so much effort into getting my hands on it. It felt very much like a 'part one' and I couldn't help but feeling that if Strong had cut out some of the many sex scenes, she could have actually finished the book properly. You don't find out what the deal is what Etain or her mother is at all. You also have to be comfortable with sex for sex's sake. Etain doesn't really have a commitment to these guys at all before hopping into bed with...more

Jul 31, 2012 Carolyn F. marked it as couldn-t-finish
I'm trying to come up with a reason why I couldn't finish this book and all I can say is that I was bored. I feel though that this reflects on me as a reader than on the writing. Wrong book at wrong time syndrome.

Great book. I was sometimes put off by Etain's sluttiness. But once I accepted the fact that it was her nature, I was able to deal a little better.

Too mature for my age and I didn't like the end. What does "as Lord would require him to kill her" means ?Doesn't he love her?Is she so much a danger?

Jory has been writing since childhood and has never outgrown being a daydreamer. When she's not hunched over her computer, lost in the muse and conjuring up new heroes and heroines, she can usually be found reading, riding her horses, or hiking with her dogs.
