Yeah, no. Not going to happen.

I was so disappointed in this last book. I was actually going to give it a 3 because I assumed we'd get some things explained BUT THE ENDING SUCKED.

Now… I would have been okay if this wasn't the last book in the series… but it so happens that it is.

WHAT THE BEEP? LIKE NOTHING WAS EXPLAINED! There is literally a million questions I would like answered that never even got touche

I like this series. It's one of the few "boarding school" type of YA paranormal novels, all snarky and teenager-y, that I like to read. I was really looking forward to Charmfall because I had a feeling it'd be better than the previous book, but I was a bit dissapointed.

The Good
- I like the concept, it's very unique. I mostly liked how the author made us question what's good or bad, how not everything is black and white. The Adepts and Reapers stuff is really cool and interesting and I liked this
Okay, so this was horrible.

First off, the writing was all wrong. It sounded like a 7th grader was narrating, mixed in with such great revelations at all the wrong times it was almost sounded funny. Okay, so people don't think like that, it takes them a while to find out what they're missing, and when they do, it's not all written in their head already. It was so fake, and Lily irritated me, not for any reason, just because she was there.

And then Jason. His relationship with Lily didn't seem real
Charm Falls Flat

Chicago's having a crisis of epic power proportions. There seems to be an epidemic of blackouts within the city limits. Unfortunately the shortages aren't of the electrical variety. Chi-Town's Dark Elite, Reapers and Adepts alike are amidst a magical misfortune, losing their abilities like a flip of a switch. Lilly and her crew are going to have to make some unlikely alliances to solve the mystery of missing magic and get their powers back.

.......seriously????? THAT was the END???? I...thought it would be better. I thought that it would be like the first or even the second book. This book just LACKED something. And it feels unfinished. I also didn't like how it seemed like she was trying to start a love triangle with Lily, Jason, and Sebastian. I mean I LOVE Sebastian, even though he's a reaper, Jason's alright, but I feel like he's more suited for Lily than Sebastian ever would be, I just like his character. But sadly...I was rea ...more

This series always makes me feel old, it definitely captures teenagers better than most. Which is a good thing, it makes it feel fresh. But this installment suffered even more than the last one from a serious lack of action. Most of the book was about the girls walking down to the tunnels, then back to their rooms, then back to the meeting room in the tunnels again. I like that Lily and Scout are staring to question the shades of grey in the world of the Adepts and the Reapers, but little other ...more
I seriously should have read this book a little slower. I have been anticipating its arrival for quite sometime, and it took me less than 2 days to finish it. UGH! I just love this series so much and all the characters are amazing. I just wish I didn't know about it until all the books were out so I wouldn't have to wait so dreadfully long to read about my favorite group of friends since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Anyways, you probably have guessed, this book wasn't a let down. It has all the sar ...more
Unfortunately, the action in these books are quickly decreasing, and the summaries of these books are very misleading. I really thought Lily would actually be in Reaper territory, for those who were wondering, not really.

Once again, I have no feelings for Jason other than he's somewhat very emotional. He was barely in it, other than to throw a little fit when he found out that Lily had been talking to Sebastian. Frankly, the only things I got from him in this book is that he keeps a ton of secre

CHARMFALL was my first taste of the Dark Elite world, and though the book itself only rated three bats, this is a series that I know I am going to keep an eye on in the future. Neill’s mythology is unique in the “magical prep-school” niche and her characters were both interesting and age appropriate. While Neill employs the familiar hook of a young protagonist developing magical powers, she takes things a very interesting step further by giving those abilities an expiration date. Not only does t ...more

In the third offering in Chloe Neill's Drak Elite series, Lily and her fellow adepts-(teenagers with magic)-Scout, Jason and Michael continue to balance their adept duties, school and romantic lives. The adepts are stunned to find that their magic no longer works, they believe the reapers (the bad guys-who steal adept powers to use for themselves) are behind this. Lily and co soon find out that the reapers have also lost their magic. The adepts try to figure out who is behind the magical blackou ...more

This is a series where there are a lot of things I like about the books but things that could be better.

I love the setting for this series. It is a boarding school set in an old gothic convent and I love the idea that all these magical going-ons happen underneath the feet (quite literally) of all the ordinary people. I love the concept behind the series and the idea of these teenagers with magic battling it out the save people.

My favourite thing about this book as with the previous ones is the r

OK, so, I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this book. It actually seemed pretty slow to me. I do like Lily and Scout, but my favorites are Sebastian and Nicu.

There wasn't a whole lot of action this time around since they were mostly just reacting to their loss of magic. I have to wonder just where this series is going to go. A big deal is made out of the fact that Lily doesn't think the same way the other Adepts do. Will her pursuit of finding out what exactly is the deal with Adepts and Rea

Even though Lily has only been "fighting the good fight" for a few months now, she's about had it up to here with all of it. So, in an effort to do something completely normal, she signs up to help with the party prep for the school's fall formal, Sneak. Of course she can't give up her protection detail completely, so when a Reaper is spotted on the school groups, Lily steps up to ward him off, only to find that her magic is gone, as well as

A while back I was sent Firespell and Charmfall for review, books one and three of a series. I wasn’t overly impressed by Firespell and unfortunately, the same points I flagged in that review are still present in Charmfall.

The pacing is still slow. The majority of the story actually consists of Lily giving the reader inconsequential and pointless information. There’s a running commentary on the brat pack’s movements, their clothing, the decorations Lily’s putting togethe

Protecting Chicago from the dark side can be an exhausting job, especially when you’re a sophomore. So when the girls of St. Sophia’s start gearing up for Sneak, their fall formal, Lily decides to join in on some good, old-fashioned party prep—even if it means not giving demons, vampires and the twisted magic users known as Reapers

This was another charming episode in the Dark Elite series. I love that the author manages to combine the magical with the mundane as can be evidenced in the quote I chose. These are high school kids and they behave like them. I really like the friendship between Lily and Scout. And I like the relationships each have with their boyfriends. I like that Lily is worried about having her heart broken and is cautious as she goes into the relationship.

I also like Lily's point of view in this one. She

I really got into this book series, I loved all the mysteries that was involved, Lily's parents and who was Sabastian? These are however the only things that kept me gripped to the book! And they still are unexplained!

I love the concept of mysteries in books, how there's that one thing you will find out when the book/trilogy ends, that keeps you reading till you find out what it is. In this case its the parents and the dark but hot reaper Sabastian!

But with out these mysteries the book would be
while this series isn't the greatest ever, I knew it before I started and just desperately needed something to read.

These kept me occupied and I have to admit I was just hungry for any interaction b/w Sebastian and Lily. <3 mmmm <3

According to Chloes website at least but COME ON! Please please tell you will finish this series and tell us what happens with the Dark Elite and with Lily's parents and with her relationship with Jason/Sebas

For the last book in a series this leaves far more unanswered than answered. More characters are unnecessarily brought in considering there's no closure anywhere. I mean what was going on with Lily's parents? And what's the deal with Foley's dead daughter? Are the Reapers actually bad? What's going to happen with Jason and his family? When will she kick him to the curb and pick up Sebastian? What did Jeremiah do that's so "big bad" and why did we need the new "big bad"? Lily's second fiddle to S ...more

I don't know. Maybe I am missing some pages. Is there another book after this? There has to be.
I am going to start with the male interest love thing. Because it was not a triangle. And that I didn't like. Yap, there's a first for everything.
We have Jason and Sebastian. I like Jason, but I don't. He pissed me off in this book.
Is not like I had expectation for a relationship between Sebastian and Lily, but give me something and trust this man a little.
Jason was all black and white world and I h
A bit disappointing after the first two. Not much really happened and I was left frustrated by the romance aspect or lack thereof. Lilly and Jason just seemed a bit dull and I found Sebastien to be much more interesting. I'm wondering if this is how the series ends. There is no sign of the author writing another book for this series. She has stated that she was contracted to write 3 books.

Oh. My. Gosh. I love this series!
Many reviewers are complaining about the lack of a complete conclusion. The following is mostly speculation and stuff my mom told me so I'm not sure but... It was probably because it was supposed to be a trilogy (and this is probably what she told the publishers.) But by the time she got to the third book she realized that she couldn't do that. She most likely wished to finish the story in other books. Either the publisher said no or whatever or it's still in th
While I did liked this book, I'm so so so very dissapointed with the ending. THIS is the last book? THESE are all of our answers that we wanted so badly to find out? We didn't learned anything! I liked that Sebastian was included more in this book, but he was not included as much as I wanted him to be. Jason was such a douchebag in this book.. he really got on my nerves. We didn't really get anything until the 'battle' at the end, and then they went back to the prom and everything was perfect wi ...more
I really do like this series and although I only gave this book three stars, I think maybe it was because I read it straight after the second book.... Should have had a break. It was good to find out a bit more about the Reapers but there is still so much more I wanted to learn. And I am still waiting to find out what Lily's parents are working on!!!!
i was quite disappointed when I finished this book. The plot of finding out how everyone lost their powers didn’t really hold my interest and I felt that there was no character development with any of the characters. The only reason I struggled to finish this was to see if anything would finally happen between Lily and Sebastian….. NOTHING HAPPENED!!
Juvenile. That's why I'm giving this book a 2. It's readable, the plot is good enough, but it seems better suited for readers in their early teens. There's not a lot of originality in terms of the characters. It's a fine read, I'll likely read the next in the series when I get to it, but it doesn't excite me.
I was thoroughly disappointed in this book. It was boring. I expected more Sebastian, did not get it. Is Lily 15 or 16? Not much action. Doesn't make since for her to be with Jason, will find his true mate. She needs to move on. Scout needs to stop leading Michael on. Liked Nicu. That was it.

Oh gosh, I can't wait for this book! I'm expecting to get my dose of Sebastian.
I bought the first two books at once and I finished them in less then two days so waiting for them for more than 8 months has been killing meeeeeeee.

At least we got a sneak peek at the first chapter... =)
After reading the first two books in this series i was anticipating for when this one came out.
After reading this book the main this i was disappointed in was the anti-climatic ending . It was really not that interesting as i would have liked but the overall storyline was good.
