Paula's readers should be accustomed to expect a quality book with Christian overtones. But even so her latest book Best Forgotten surpasses others with romance, suspense, murder and intrigue interwoven with empathy and concern.

Courtney Lockwood awakes in hospital to find himself to be a young man without a past - total amnesia. His dental records confirm hi...more

This is an intersting book by Aussie author Paula Vince. A young man runs out into the dark and is hit by a car. When he comes to he has no idea who he is. As he is told who he is he wonders what his life was like and finds he doesn't like everything he sees. He finds out is mane is Courtne and his girlfriend seems to be evasive and he wonders if he is in trouble. He wonders if never remembering would be better than remembering his old life. I found it interesting watching the story unfold. At o...more

This book is a Christian psychological thriller. In this story, a young man, running away from something is hit by a car driven by a preacher. When he awakens in the hospital, he remembers nothing, not even who he is. The pastor tells him that perhaps in some way, it may be God’s will. Even when he does find out his identity and he rejoins his family, he still has total amnesia. He does know, however, that he was running away from something very frightening. He decides that he does not like the...more

When a young man gets hit by a car and flung on the side of the road it’s a miracle he even survives. But upon awakening he remembers nothing, not even himself.
As he is rehabilitated to his family and loved ones he can’t help but to feel out of place, and most disturbing is the feeling that something is right on his heels.
His mother is highly un-approving of everything he does, he’s had nothing to do with his dad in the past, and his previous appearance baffles him. How could he like skulls,...more

I have no idea if it was because I read this book in PDF format instead of print that it didn't appeal to me much. I had no idea the words would be so tiny on my Kindle, and I could barely focus in on it. Best Forgotten was easy to follow though, so I could keep up with most the plot line through the narrative.
The concept sounds very intriguing, and if you're a lady it probably sounds extra romantic. The book was just very cheesy though, and that isn't what I'm into. The character on the cove...more

A young man is hit by a car and wakes up in the hospital with no memory of who he is. What better beginning can a story have? Courtney is soon identified by the police and returned to his family. He has an overbearing mother, a sister with whom he seems to have no real relationship, and a girlfriend who is strangely distant - but Courtney can't shake the feeling that he's in danger - serious danger.

The book follows as Courtney tries to figure out what happened to him the night of his memory loss...more

Actually 4 and a half stars but I haven't figured out how to put a half star in.I finished this book ages ago but haven't had time till now to write the review.
Best Forgotten starts with an car accident when a driver, Reverend Barney Wills hits a young man who appears on the road in front of him. It then jumps to the young man waking up hospital not remembering anything or anyone, not his family or friends and not even who he is. What Courtney Lockwood does find out about the person he was befor...more

Surprisingly unputdownable.

After being hit by a car in the middle of the night, Courtney Lockwood wakes up not remembering who he is or what his name is. The more pieces of the puzzle he finds, the more his comes to loathe the person he used to be.

It grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go till the end. Excellently written, with lots of mystery. I loved how the author really took me into the story, and I could really tap into the confusion that Courtney was feeling.

I'm going to be hon...more

Overall, Best Forgotten is a gripping, yet heart-warming novel, full of mystery, with a compelling storyline, that will have you frantically turning the pages to find out what happens next. Courtney's dry wit will having you cracking into a grin often. You will not regret picking up this fantastic read!
