Excellent story, it keeps you in a guessing game, for the identity of the protagonist for a while. I would say that this is less of a short story and more of a novelette, but the author marks it clearly, as a short story and I have to respect that. A part-sequel of shorts, to the Living Sword Chronicles. I liked a lot.

I did enjoy this book (novella?), but I had some trouble following parts of the story. I found that I had to reread sections to understand them.
I felt the epilogue had some typos. I would like to read the full series.

I read this without having read the Living Sword first, but I don't think it cannot be enjoyed separately too, because it was really good.
I loved the writing style and the way the story progressed and I have to say that it was equal amounts mysterious, exciting and thrilling.
You want to root for the Rootless but I'm not sure that you can. but you certainly want to know more about him and what he is and about the Tribe and their way of life, their beliefs etc.
Even though it was a short novella, y More...
