5 stars for Luke! Re-read and buddy read with Kelly December 2012 / review edited December 21, 2012

Eric Luke, I don't like the dog chain…It should have been your St. Christopher medallion.

I have it on good authority that this picture comes pretty close to Luke, although we would have to age this guy a couple of years and he'd need a stronger jawline.

This specific quote by Tyler Knott Gregson sums up Em and Luke's situation perfectly:

Warm me like sunlight and soothe me like rain. Burn me with p

5+++ stars!

One of the best romantic suspense book I've read in a long, long time! This book has everything; a beautiful love story, intense action, friendship, hot sex, the feels...everything.

Luke Hutchinson, a legendary CIA operative, walked away from the only woman he ever loved and his young son after an incident which convinced him he wasn't good enough for them. So he walked out, leaving Em and his son Rayne behind and for two decades he stayed away. Until a threat from his past threatene

This is the 5th and final book in Kaylea Cross’ “Suspense” series. The first book in the series is the weakest, but as the series progresses, it gets better and better.

The title of the book is “Absolution”' and that's what this book is about, but it's also about forgiveness, and healing.

Luke Hutchinson is a former SEAL Officer, and now works on cont

Where to start?

The series started average but really evolved from book to book.

This book is about Luke and Emily. Luke is somehow the central character through out the series. He and Emily are divorced for twenty years but they never stopped to love each other. All along the series we got bits and pieces of their story and in this book we have the final outcome as well as the final point to the suspense element of the series.

The least I could say is that Kaylea Cross didn't choose the easy

Absolution is a totally engaging, powerful, emotional read! While the action, suspense, and romance are perfectly balanced, what I loved was the romance....and Luke Hutchinson!!

Thank you Babs for leading me to this beautiful story! I loved it!

An absolutely pitch perfect romantic suspense! This story hits all the points required to warrant 5 stars. A riveting story that is unique, flows well and keeps the reader anxiously turning pages. What makes this particular story stand out among the plethora of contemporary romantic suspense, however is that the main characters aren't the usual late 20 to early 30 something military/special ops. we are used to. This story deals with a 50 year old CIA operative who has been around the block, with ...more
WOW!!!!! What an exciting end to a fantastic series! By far the sweetest, most romantic and heart breakingly emotional one of the bunch! I LOVED Luke..have from the very see him finally reunited with Emily after so much pain and suffering on both their parts was very bittersweet considering the circumstances. Definitely has you believing in true love or the famous saying.."love conquers all."

There's no way i could do this book justice by going into a lengthy review, there have alr

Absolutely spellbinding! A heart-wrenchingly beautiful love story between two older characters whose lives did not always travel a peaceful path. A wonderful finale to this superb series.
2 1/2 stars...

I did not read the preceding books in this series. So I do not totally feel it fair for me to rate the suspense elements of Absolution. This was obviously a plot line that had been building for several books. But if I had to say anything it would be; very edge of my seat exciting, great characters, great villain, though it didn't do enough for me to prompt going back and reading the preceding books.

Romantic suspense is not my preferred genre... So why'd I read a romantic suspense
Hmmmmm....Sorry the thing that he left her for 20 years and during that period not wanting to reconcile with her and "their son" is hard to accept for me...He was apparently protecting her from danger due to his governmental "profession"... BUT WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT HIS FAMILY OR HIS JOB???

I am too frustrated to continue reading it write now.....

WOW! Absolutely riveting! What a great way to end a fantastic series!
*4.5 Stars*

This was a really good book with lots of emotion and plenty of suspense! Luke had walked away from Emily, his wife, more than twenty years earlier, not because he didn't love her, but because he did. Yeah, she didn't buy it either, but she couldn't stop him. Because of a potential threat to her, they are forced together and the emotions they have both been trying to deny surface - explosively. As you might expect, there is a good amount of angst, but your heart just breaks for both th
a beautiful story about two people struggling to love again, and finally the villain gets offed!!!
This was the best of all the books. For two big reasons, one that the love story rang true, there was a big buildup for this love story in the previous books and perhaps because of this, it was the best of the lot. Emily was a sweetheart and I saw how she could love Luke because he was amazing in this book (not so much in the previous books, though). The uber-villain is finally dealt with at the end
It was an okay read. The hero was a bit of an egg I believe he was the root of all the problems. He just couldn't stay and resolve them as a couple and that really made him look weak in my eyes which is sad because the book was all about how he is such a strong agent etc.
I thought the heroine was really overly forgiving. He had hurt her so many times then he just says i'm sorry lets try again and she falls all over herself to make him happy and take him back.NO! Just NO!
The heroine also had on

Reunion story 20 years in the making. Hero walked out on son and his wife thinking it's for their better since his job was taking a toll and he almost slit her throat but then something from his past brings danger along and the heroine may be dying of cancer. I enjoyed the book even though I have not read the other books in the series, the writing was good. Luke the hero was tortured, I do feel I may have been more invested in the story if I had read the others but to me the hero Luke
I freaking LOVED Absolution! Luke has intrigued me from the beginning of the series but who knew that Luke, with his cold and aloof exterior, could be so gentle and tender?! We were only able to briefly glimpse all that is Luke in the previous installments so seeing the more passionate/sensitive side of this complex character was incredible. Loved him, loved Emily, loved their second chance, loved the culmination of the Tehrazzi/revenge storyline, loved the ending, just loved everything about it ...more
5 fabulous stars. Another best book of the series. Wow - the whole Emily/Luke story from the beginning until now was a heart melter. No other book like this one. What research KC must have gone through to write this complex series. Sorry the series has ended but KC is now one of my fav authors. Her next series starts off with Deadly Descent and I can't wait for the following book. Highly recommend this author and her series.

Kaylea Cross’s series got better and better until it all culminated in the amazing final installment. Absolution has her trademark suspense, action and emotion packed into it but with a unique hero and heroine who are both older than the norm in today’s romance novels. Since readers have had glimpses of the couple, clever clues about their marriage which ended over twenty years ago, it was a treat to finally learn their full story. And again I was hooked from the very first page. Cross wove in e ...more

Fantastic - probably because, like one of my most fav stories EVER("Wild Card" by Leigh), the H/h had a long term romance that was interupted for years and the backdrop of war and evil was the catalyst, not the story. I think I read this story about 18 months ago and forgot to flag it until now - I've read it twice and probably will read it again (and again). Older H, older h (which is so rare - and they had a very intense sexual relationship as an older couple, it's not all for the 20 year olds ...more

*sigh* And I'm done. I was looking forward to reading this one and dreading it because I knew it was the end. I'm glad it ended with Luke and Emily because there really were a lot of loose ends with Luke. I felt like we got an appropriate emotional ending because Luke finally got his shit together and took care of other business in order to move on. I could just keep reading books that involved this group but I'm totally in love with Rayne, Dec, Ben, Rhys and Luke.

God, what an emotional book. What a fantastic end to the series. Zosia says it better than I can. I agree with everything she listed. Zosia's Review of Absolution

Kaylea Cross writes suspense that keeps me on the edge. The action in it self is sharp as knife, I'm literally biting my nails, on the edge of my seat, the tale so vivid that I feel like I'm there myself. The psychological tension, the build up keeps me hooked to the story.
The characters, even though true alpha males and independent, professional, kick-ass women, are not perfect. They are human, with flaws and weaknesses. But despite them, or because of them, they find a way to each others heart
I have read all the books in the series but this.. oh, the beauty! Can it get 6 stars?!

I liked the first and the forth book the most, it started great, continued a bit slow but Nev and Rhys story was really well written, fast paced, a lovely read. And then this! I must say, since the first book of the series I wanted desperately to know what will happen with Luke and Em but I wasn's prepared for the beauty of this.

A wonderful, one life love story, written so beautifully, with such complex and he

This end to the incredible series is quite the emotional read. Happy, sad and everything in between! In this book, all of the heroes and heroines from the previous books are together (more or less, except Rayne and Christa). Luke is on his final mission to find Tehrazzi and take him out. They set up base at Bryn’s father’s place in Beirut and because Luke realizes Tehrazzi has been targeting the females of his team he feels the last one that is in danger is his ex-wife Emily. He learns that Emil ...more

Kaylea Cross pens one of the best romantic suspense novels I’ve read in a long time. The camaraderie of the men and their spouses who face death constantly is excellent. As is the excruciating look into the lives of spouses left behind while their mate faces potential death. This could be a look into the lives of soldiers and their mates in every branch of service throughout the world. I would seriously recommend that the reader keep tissues beside you throughout the book.

i did enjoy this book but this was for me was the weaker of the series, i wanted Luke n Em to get together i just wish he had to do more chasing after keeping her, as he had kept at arms length for so long. I felt a little cheated that she was so eager and ready to forgive. and that she constantly put her self out there and he did put himself out there enough.
I just re-read my reviews of this series and in one I loved Luke (the hero of this) and in another I thought he was the worlds biggest asshole.

Well, in this book he is sort of both, I loved him once he stopped being a stupid asshole. And I must say he is a pretty awesome character - totally Hero material and I love the way he loved Em.

I get that he had a job to do (over 30 years) before he could settle down but still it wouldn't hurt to communicate.

It was nice to read about an older couple and d
