Every woman should embrace her inner goddess. What’s your connection?
Jocelyn Gibson forgot about the realm of magic. But it never forgot her. Gram always told her: don’t ignore your magical gifts, it will insult the family. But Joss didn’t realize her gifts included channeling the energy of powerful ley lines. Or that her family included a goddess. Family connections come

This is the first in Masters' The Goddess Connection series. With fae, demons, goddesses, a visit to hell, a battle between the "forces of darkness and light", ordinary humans and an undeniable romance and love, this is a paranormal romance that has evil coming to the little town of Boiling Springs.

Jocelyn, a widow, buys an old B&B which unbeknownst to her lays over a ley line. When she hosts a costume Halloween debut party, both she and her aunt feel vibrations radiating up from the ground

A lovely blend of romance and paranormal happenings twined with mythology.

Joss Gibson purchases a run-down Bed & Breakfast in a small town, intending to revamp it and create a vital business. She doesn’t realize, however, that the property sits on a powerful ley line and that she is the descendant of a goddess. Soon, dark forces are stirring, targeting her and those close to her. This includes the town veterinarian, Dr. Eric Hendricks whom Joss has taken an interest in.

The romance builds sl

Gooddess Awakened was a very good read of a fantasy, paranormal romance. Jocelyn opens up The Lavender Inn things start happening which gets the town rocking. Jocelyn eyes are opened to her past and what she truly is, her family comes running when trouble starts. You have fairies, goddess and many more that come together to put evil in its place. The author has a way of pulling in her reader as she brings a touch of romance into scary paranormal. She intertwines the two which at times scared the ...more

4.5 stars. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading this fantasy, paranormal romance. The book had many facets and kept me gripped and entertained for hours. Jocelyn is new to town and opens up The Lavender Inn with her friend, Annie, who cooks gourmet. She's bright, kind, and energetic but hides loneliness behind her goddess persona. The setting is dreamy and I'd love to visit it, if it were not for the undercurrents of evil spiritual activity which reach a clima

The idea of gods and goddesses living amongst us isn’t a new one. How that idea is translated, is.

Goddess, Awakened is an interesting spin on this old idea. Ms. Masters created a woman worthy of being a goddess, not because she was drop dead gorgeous or insanely wealthy or an alpha female. No. See, Jocelyn was a widow, a mother, and a new businesswoman. She was strong and determined, but there was this hint of uncertainty or unease surrounding her. It made her an interesting goddess, one whose h

Joss is a very powerful woman, she she doesn't really believe it. When she buys an inn on top of a ley line all hell breaks loose. A demon has targeted the vet down the road and seems to be intent on harvesting some souls. Joss's power may be all that can protect the small town and keep it from being destroyed.

Joss was an interesting mix of confidence and doubt. She is sure that her inn will succeed and that her special recipes featuring lavender will be a big hit. On the other had, she doubt h

Cate Masters’s “Goddess, Awakened” is a curious paranormal romance. It starts out almost a quiet tale of romance between a hot veterinarian (Eric) and a bed and breakfast owner (Joss). It matures into more and the paranormal bits gradually take over the story and it becomes almost like “Charmed” at some points. There are a lot of great supporting characters and it seems like this story will spawn a good series. I am interested to see what happens in the next book in the series. My only small iss ...more

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Jocelyn Gibson is a descendant of the goddess Iris with magical powers of which she thought she had put on the back burner because of her husband. But Joss has been in morning for the past three years and decides it is time to move on with her life. So she buys an old bed and breakfast in the small town of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania that she plans on renovating. She knows it is going to take a lot of time and hard work b

*Received a copy for an honest review.*

Jocelyn moves to a small little town with big plans to renovate the old inn. The problem? Her interactions with the sacred spot could end up violating an ancient treaty. As if that wasn't bad enough, evil has targeted the man she's coming to care for. Add in some pesky, but well meaning relatives, a best friend who can cook, some magic and curses, and a whole lot of small town charm, and you get Goddess Awakening.

When the book first started, I wasn

At first glance, GODDESS AWAKENED had everything I could have wanted from a book – goddesses, magic, romance, a heroine that’s in her forties, and a dog that’s part Labrador. I was positive I’d be loving every word of it. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out that way.

On the surface, GODDESS AWAKENED is a good story. A widow’s attempt to put her life back together while she starts a new venture – renovating an old bed and breakfast. The widowed veterinar

I've always loved books that center around Goddesses and The Magic of Lavender fits the bill perfectly. Joss reminds me of my mother in so many ways except my mom cannot wield magic the way Joss can. Joss takes risks and her biggest risk is in buying a run down inn. She wants to turn it into a place that people love to go to and at the center of her vision for the inn is the lavender she plans to grow and use in many things such as her family's la

I enjoyed reading Goddess Awakening even though it is not the type of book I would normally pick up to read. I was able to put away my disbelief and just enjoy. The story and characters do capture your imagination.

I almost gave this 4 Stars since it IS a great story, but the addition of what seems to be pages of useless verbiage just about killed my enjoyment of this novel. Both of the central couple seemed to be unable to cope with a relationship to the point to where I got tired of their internal and external excuses.

The book is saved from complete disaster by a decent cast of secondary characters who should have been flashed out a bit more and some evil characters that come across very clearly, wish th

The Magic of Lavender is a lovely paranormal romance that taps into everyone’s love of magic and soul mates. The story of Jocelyn, her family and their magical talents is inspirational, and the tension between her and Eric is palpable.

The Magic of Lavender is a lovely paranormal romance that taps into everyone’s love of magic and soul mates.

Jocelyn is surrounded by magic because she is related to the goddess Iris. But she turned away from the world of magic because her late husband disapproved. Now, she has a new lease on life: she has bought an inn and intends to turn it into a success story, surrounding it with fields of lavender.

Although the story moves really fast at first and it takes the reader a while to get into the f

The Magic of Lavender is a really interesting read. Master’s has created a curious mix of Greek mythology and the Fae tradition that is fascinating.

Jocelyn and Eric make a nice couple and one of my favorite things about them is that they are older and have real life problems.

Didn't particularly care for any of the characters -- the hero was a ditz and the heroine too wishy-washy. Could be recommended to someone wanting a light beach read with an element of the paranormal, but it's not a book for hard-core paranormal romance fans.
