Peter Greenaway is every bit as good a writer as he is a director.
As a devoted fan of Greenaway's films my expectations were high when I happened upon GOLD in a small used bookstore in Manhattan.
Gold is a series of tiny stories, 99 in all, each about a separate gold bar and the predicaments surrounding it in Eastern Europe during WWII. At the end of each story (Greenaway style) the gold bar involved ends up in the back of a wrecked Mercedes near Bolzano where they cannot, for the life of them,
