Morto Jules, in Edmond de Goncourt viene meno l'ossessione di fare dell' opera letteraria lo specchio fedele della realtà, dichiara anzi di sentirsi infastidito e a disagio di fronte alla "verità troppo vera".

A very dark novel. And the story was somehow weirdly written. In the beginning the characters were interesting, and I was really looking forward to learning more about them, and following them on their adventures. Halfway through the story though, they became boring and quite unmemorable.
