A hilarious and romantic standalone novel from the bestselling author of the I Heart series

Rachel Summers loves a to-do list:

• Boyfriend
• Flat
• Great job

NOT on the list:

• Being dumped

Best friends Emelie and Matthew ride to her rescue with an entirely new kind of list – The Single Girl’s To-Do List. Rachel doesn’t know it, but it will take her on all kinds of wild adventures – and get her in some romantic pickles too. And the More...

It was possible my standards had lowered without me realizing.

killing them with kindness was the only way to get through the day.

I was a pretty good drunk, more happy than emotional and, nine times out of ten, I managed to keep my kebab down.

I’m not saying you weren’t happy before, but you’re not happy now. Things change, you know, that’s not always bad.

Rachel doet alles in haar leven volgens een to-do lijst.

I'd been having a bit of a dry spell where books were concerned, but I really enjoyed this book. I would have given this book 4 stars, it's just little things that kinda upset me. It might only be in the edition I was reading but I found a few typos and while it's not that big of a deal I still had to stop and wonder at it. (Unless those typos were British slang, but I'm still convinced snary was meant to be snarky).
I liked the sub characters as well, no two were alike so it was fun readi More...

Lindsey Kelk is best known for her I Heart series; a trio of books adored by many chick lit readers. I read I Heart New York a few years ago and enjoyed the witty style of writing, but there was something about the plot that didn’t click with me. I found it quite unrealistic, and perhaps a bit too light and sugary, so I never got round to reading the rest of the series.

Even so, I still felt like Kelk was an author to look out for, and the sy More...

I have read all of Lindsey Kelk’s books including her kindle book Jenny Lopez Has A Bad Week, and I have enjoyed every one of them. While I have patiently been waiting for the new I Heart book to come out I then heard that Lindsey Kelk was releasing another book called A Single Girls To Do List. I could not wait to read this one hoping it was going to be as good as her previous books.

Plot
Rachel Summers has been dumped by the heartless Simon. Her best friends E More...

PURE PLEASURE READ!
I would normally have rated this book 3 stars but I fell in love with it so much that I had to add an extra star.

Lindsey Kelk's The Single Girl's To-Do List centers around Rachel Summers whose life seems to be following the perfect check list. She has a great job, a great boyfriend and a great flat until suddenly she is dumped and finds her life turned upside down, unsure how to react or how to be single. With a little help from her two best friends Emelie an More...

Last week I read a book that sounded promising but turned out to be a damp squib which never seemed to end.

This week, I (with one eyebrow cocked disdainfully) picked up the dodgy sounding, loaded with smarmy self-help undertones The Single Girls To-Do List and.....ate a large slice of humble-pie as I breezed through this totally addictive, feel-good read.

It’s the story of make-up artist Rachel Lulu Summers. 28-year old Rachel has just been brutally ditched by her supposed More...

Rachel has a list for everything except how to live your life after being dumped by your boyfriend of five years. Luckily, this girl has two great friends. First is Matthew, who is a great guy but also gay. Her other friend is Emilie. They have known each other for many years and they are both there to help her survive the next few days. After many drinks at the Pub, they come up with the Single Girl's to do list. The list involves a few things Rachel wouldn't dream of doing, including bungee ju More...

My first 5 star review of 2012 and I now have another favorite author in the chicklit genre. Can't believe I'd never read anything by Lindsey Kelk before. Her style reminds me a bit of Marian Keyes in the earlier years, like Last Chance Saloon and Sushi for Beginners, but I digress.

The Single Girl's To-Do List was definitely a page turner. The writing flowed incredibly well and never while I was reading did I get bored, antsy or want to skip ahead.

Hilarious, gorgeous, honest and heart-breakingly sad. I loved every word on every page. This isn't a book where you want to skip even one sentence. Rachel is such a real girl in the real-wide-world. Her problems are funny and truthfully life like. Reading about how she goes through the break up and how she handles it with the help of her best friends makes me wish I had Matthew and Em whenever I fell into a deep dark hole of being ditched by a man you thought you would spend the rest of you More...

I really enjoyed this book, to be honest, I enjoyd it more than the whole "I heart..." series. There was everything I have looked for: fun, relax, girls power... I loved all the characters, they were so realistic, I just wanted to be friends with them all (well, perhaps not with Simon). There was always something happening, one adventure took us to another one, and they were really funny, I have laughed out loud, and it doesn't happen often:) Actually, it was so nice written, in so int More...

This was a terribly fun and amusing book to read. Perfect to consume on my quiet pre-Halloween Sunday!

Okay, so my finger is healed up now, and I can type again! Woot!

So this book was very charming. There were a few flaws, but overall the whole concoction was so hilarious and life-worthy that they quickly lost their focus.

I especially love how unrealistic the whole thing is. Unless you really do make a huge personality change, things like this don't happen to most More...

Okay, zugegeben, der Titel und die Aufmachung des Buchs sind so, dass es mir etwas unangenehm war, es im Bus zu lesen. Der Inhalt ist allerdings gut und genau das, was man ab und an braucht:

ein typisches Frauenbuch;
eine lustig-romantische Geschichte mit sympathischen Charakteren;
eine Geschichte, bei der man von Anfang an weiß, wo es enden wird, bei der man aber trotzdem umblättert und lächelt und sich mit den Figuren freut

Rachel Summers has an obsession, that is creating to-do lists.
So far, she has a steady relationship with her boyfriend, Simon.
A flat.
A job that she loves.
But when Simon decides they should "take a break", Rachel is left wondering.
Then when he drops the bombshell of their break-up, Rachel is lost, confused and heartbroken.
As she is never single, her best friends Matthew and Emelie decide to cut in and therefore, the single girl's to-do list has been created More...

It was okay. It did its job, filled its purpose. I was after a frothy read that I could pick up and put down and not think about too much in between and that's pretty much what I got. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge 'chick flick' advocate - there's some amazing books out there lumped into that unflatteringly named category - but this one just didn't quite cut it for me. There were a few genuinely funny scenes and also some "been there!" moments but on the whole I found the plot to be a More...

I never know why I buy these "traditional" chick lit books, they always end up irritating me and to be honest this wasn't much different.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't awful and at first I thought I may have enjoyed it but the more I read the more I wasn't to bitch slap the main character and her "pals". The writer clearly watches too much friends because it was something which the script writers could have produced (who uses "ew" et al anymore).

I loved this book! It was super fun and light-hearted, but also very easy to relate to the main character, Rachel. British chick lit is always so fun to me, so I really enjoyed this book! I found it a little thick to get into, but about 1/3 the way in I was hooked. I was very pleased with the ending, as it showed how much Rachel grew and changed throughout the book!

Rachel Summers is a British make-up artist who has a mild case of OCD. Every day, she makes a To-Do list of the things she wants to accomplish that day. So, when she finds herself suddenly single after her boyfriend of 5 years dumps her, she makes a to-do list (with the help of her two best friends) of things she needs to accomplish to be “officially single” and get over her boyfriend.

This book was a great read. It was fun, witty, and just a feel-good book. The characters were unique a More...

What. A. Fun. Read. I first heard about this book from numerous people on Twitter, and in one of The Savvy Reader's email newsletters. I thought it would be like all the other "chick-lit"-type books, but with the rave reviews, I thought I'd give it a chance. Boy am I glad I did! It does still fall into that genre, but it's one of the more entertaining ones I've read. Kelk's writing has that witty British sense of humour, reminiscent of Bridget Jones.

I haven't read those "i love/heart" books from lindsey yet. I like british humour and i enjoied 90% of the book. Sadly, I gave the book 3* though the book could deserve at least 4* if not 5*. the last 30 pages were so boring that I forced myself to read it till the end. Throughout the book, the main protagonist became more and more - numb. She made stupid excusses and talked in second person to herself. *******************************************************SPOILER********************* More...

Author of the I Heart series, Lindsey Kelk, released a hilarious standalone novel titled The Single Girl's To-Do List. So I recommended it for a chick lit book club I'm in on goodreads, and it was selected for our July BOTM. What a great choice! Where are all my single ladies? Put your books up! This is a cute, fun read for the summer while lounging at the pool, checking out the guys underneath your shades.

This was the first book by Lindsey Kelk that I have read (although I admit to hoarding four more of her books on my nook) and let me tell you, I laughed out loud, many times. Her writing is fresh and so very real. I loved the fact that it is set in London, so we get all of those British references that we Anglophiles love to see. Overall it was a fun read. I look forward to seeing what her other works have to offer. More...

I struggled with this book at first - the main character seemed a bit too oblivious to what was going on in her relationship - but I enjoyed the story once I got further into it. However I didn't need to be constantly reminded that the main character had dyed her hair/was scared of heights etc (and I certainly didn't need her to talk about herself in third-person to remind me of such facts). On a non-story related aspect I found the back cover a bit “tween” and consequently embarrassing to carry More...

I don't know why this didn't grab me. The writing was fine, the characters were likeable, the plot was reasonable. But I couldn't get myself to care about the heroine or her problems. I think it was just because the plot lacked an element of exaggeration. It was kind of like someone telling you a mostly boring story about their own, perfectly average break up. Meh.
