The Guardian (Dark-Hunterverse #21)
Dream-Hunter Lydia has been charged with the most sacred and dangerous of missions: To descend into the Nether Realm and find the missing god of dreams before he betrays the secrets that could kill her and her kind. What she never expects is to be taken prisoner by the Realm’s most vicious guardian…
Seth’s time is running out. If he can’t hand over the entrance to Olympus
To start with, we actually had likable characters - both the male and female. There is Seth, a demi-god who is stuck in the "hell realm" and has been tortured for thousands of years but can't die. He has been released to retrieve the "key" to Olympus that will give the key-bearer the ability to de ...more
Well, color me surprised-I actually liked this book. I only picked it up out of nostalgia- I used to be a real SK fan. Yeah, not so much anymore. This series has been going downhill for a while, IMHO. Too many things/disasters/pantheons. The books have the feeling of not being connected at all, loose ends everywhere, etc. Don't even get me started on Chronicles of Nick. Paradoxes, BS that seriously bugs me and I wish to hell that series never started. This book was marginally better and ...more
I know...that was a mouthful and it can be confusing but it manages not to be in some weird way. I will have to say (IMO) that this is NOT a dark hunter book or a dream hunter book ...more

Seth had a tragic and sad history. (I swear this author may hate men because most of them are tortured in sick and disgusting ways) My heart broke for him. He was damaged. Seriously damaged. How could you not be after never having a kind word or touch your ENTIRE life. He had no self esteem, but I was ok with his negative thoughts or reactions. They were not excessive nor did they really inh ...more
This is the first dream hunter book that really rocked my world. I loved the cast of characters except for Noir and Azure of course, what bastards they were. Pure evil right to their black souls. And even after what they did to Seth for forty five thousand years he still survived and even though he did not want to feel hope much less love there was one person who brought those dr ...more
This felt like a total return to classic Kenyon. I love the story line and the twisted nature of the Hero. What better way to tame a wild beast then to force him face to face with a beautiful and seemingly unattainable "lily". Love the historical references as always and the return to our Greek pantheon as a focus with sidelines in common Eg ...more

Seth, Seth, Seth!! I love you!! Please come out of the book and claim me!
Review to come..!!

Seth was such a tortured soul, betrayed by all in his life and I loved how Lydia got to know him and well healed him. I won't go into the whole mythology of it, Jaden, Thorn etc all make an appearance but I really enjoyed the book.
Sherrilyn Kenyon is making a come back! Now I'll admit the last few books in the dark hunter/dream-hunter series were really boring. They lacked character growth, sexual tension and suspense. Pretty much anything that made me want to keep reading, so going into The Guardian I was a little worried. I had also resigned myself to mediocre books from now, but I am so glad ...more
I thought this book was such a waste of both my time and my money. It was completely unoriginal and unimaginative. I must say, Sherrilyn really got me with this one. I will NEVER buy another one of her books again because it's obvious she doesn't care anything about her fanbase and just wants to write any old thing and put it out because she knows her loyal fans will buy it. Well not this one because I'm done. This book was dull and I was wondering throughout the story "Haven' ...more
What I liked:
- Seth was a prototype of a tortured hero that we love. After thousands of years being tortured by Noir, saying he has trust issues is the understatement of the millenium. Seeing him re-gain some of the trust he lost was so good. He was so hurt that I wanted to cry for him.
But when she brushed her hand lightly against his cock, h...more
I'm more of a Dark-Hunter gal, but boy oh boy I might be swaying and gone to the Dream-Hunter side!
This novel confused the living wits outta me when I first began reading it. Once I got the feel to the story plot and learned more about the characters, no one could make me put this book down.
I loved the Hero with every thread in my body. I honestly can't say I could compare Seth to all the Heroes in this series, although each and every one of them ...more
“All men while they are awake are in one common world. But each of them, when he is asleep, is in a world of his own.”
“Was hell good for you?”
Seth looked up from beneath the strands of his blood soaked auburn hair, to snarl at the sound of a voice he hadn’t heard in centuries.
Lord of all things dark and deadly.
He would respond to the stupid question, but his mouth had been bolted shut by the demons who’d been torturing him for the last…

Favorite Quote: “Baby, I will always come for you.“
Seth is one of the most fierce Guardians to the evil Noir. Sold into slavery as a child, Seth, an Egyptian demigod, has spent thousands of years guarding and being tortured by one of the most sadistic primal source gods in existence. When Seth is commanded to find the Key, an artifact that can destroy the Greek Pantheon, he kidnaps the dream god Solin and tortures him for its whereabout ...more
