A Honorable Mention
Not all tales of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity is made into an award winning movie, but just because one’s life story is not in a motion picture does not diminish the accomplishments. ‘A Pilot’s Journey: Memoirs of a Tuskegee Airman’ is one such example. Highly informative narrative about a life well-lived. The author draws from a wealth of records provided by the subject CC Robinson and his family members, and extensive interviews with Robinson before he passed away a few years ago.

I really enjoyed this book and learned a lot from it, and would have given it another star except that it is the author's 1st attempt at writing and it shows. Structure of chapters, paragraphs and sentences tends to be clumsy. Quotes are often used verbatim when they

really enjoyed the book. in many ways it gave me a sense of what my late godfather and my mother's brothers endured coming up in the south. there were some instances in which perspective changed. I read through some of them, the rest of them, were fine after I caught up to myself. all told, the Tuskegee airmen, are an important aspect of American military history, and they make our continued struggle as people and a country that much more poignant and important. thank you mr norfleet.

Recommends it for: those interested in history, esp of the south
Not an elegantly written book but an important first hand account of American heroes and their country's reluctance to help them help us.

The book was ok. I felt like I was sitting with CC and he was telling me his story. Which was good. But I felt like he was glossing things over a bit.

Meh. Looked like it would be more intriguing than it was. Not bad just not compelling.
