This wasn't the best book, but it wasn't all that bad. I went into this book kind of expecting what I was getting (thanks to other readers' reviews) and so I wasn't disappointed when the 3 short stories all turned out extremely similarly. I was kind of annoyed that the realizations of the couples all occured at Christmastime, it was just to predicatble by the time I got to the third story (which, by the way, was my favorite of the three). Too bad real life isn't as easy as romance novels make th...more

This is the very first book by Nora Roberts that I ever read! I was 15 years old. A friend insisted I read it and even escorted me to the library to make sure I did. I think I borrowed this and Sea Swept. So I can blame (and thank) my buddy Krystel for my obsession with this author. We spent that entire summer hanging out in a Bronx deli and reading Nora Roberts, L.J. Smith, and Sydney Sheldon. Good times.

I don't remember much of the details, but I thought The MacGregor Brides was hilarious and...more

Here comes the Brides
In the continuing saga of the Macgregors, Nora Roberts introduces us to three grown up granddaughters of the likable Patrioch, Daniel Macgregor. There's Laura, Gwen, and Julia, cousins. All three independent and hard working. Sharing a house, they are very close to each other and family and find that they have now caught the notice of their lovable grandfather. He has decided that they have been single long enough and sets off to put in their paths Mr. Right. What ensues wil...more

I am not going to review every Nora Roberts book that I have read in the past because she is quite prolific and it would get redundant and I honestly cannot remember all the plots. I think someone finds someone else attractive but at least one cannot admit it so there is sexual tension, then lots of sex, and then they live happily ever after? Sometimes there is some magic , a family legacy, or a mystery. Certainly not great works of literature (however still 100% better than “the grapes of wrath...more

4 stars: Laugh out loud, enjoyable summer read

I really like this light hearted, humorous series. Great characters. Endearing and hard to put down. I've read almost all of the books in this series and enjoyed them.

Not knowing it was a series, I started with this book. It was hiliarous. I was hooked. My favs in the series are the later books (including this one) with three generations of MacGregors and the matchmaking, meddlesome grandfather. I actually think I liked the series more by starting w...more

Although I appreciated that Nora Roberts is following all of the characters in the MacGregor family, I think that more time and pages should be spent on the stories. It was a little hard to enjoy the stories when 75 pages into them the characters are already in love with each other. There needs to be other conflicts than just the one where the characters are angry because Daniel set them up and therefore cannot be together. That plot device is too overused, expecially now that she is onto Daniel...more

Just finished this book and it was overall pretty humourous and intriguing.

The 3 stories were actually quite similar in terms of the characters and feelings. The men are always the ones who fall in love first, and they all feel sexually attracted to the females. And the females always have to fuss over their feelings and "need time to think" about it as if they've never had a relationship before.

Other than the similarities, the plot of each story were all quite different due to their jobs, alth...more

When I first started reading Roberts, her stuff was fresh to me, but after reading nearly a dozen books, I see a pattern in some of her books. This volume is a compilation of three stories in one, but it's really one story told three ways. Grandpa MacGregor wants to fix up his three granddaughters, and he has selected three men for them. All go the same way - they clash, they fight, they kiss, then they marry. If you like that kind of thing, go ahead, but honestly, there are better Nora Roberts...more

Loved this 3 in 1 book. All the stories were a quick delightful read. I found I enjoyed reading these 3 stories more than any of the previous ones in this series. Daniel MacGregor is 90 years old and still up to his old matchmacking tricks. He pairs off his 3 oldest granddaughters with 3 attractive eligible men that he deems good stock and strong blood to carry on the MacGregor line..plus of course Anna is looking forward to Greatgrand babies to bouce on her knee...

I always enjoy Nora Roberts, but I feel this book was too condensed. I REALLY enjoy 2 books in one, but I think the three books in one put a terrible restriction on character and plot development. I didn't feel as connected to the characters and the relationships weren't believable. I did think the characters had great set-ups and the relationships had great set-ups but I wished more time could've been dedicated to each character and their lives.

The first Nora Roberts book I ever read and still my favorite. A fun, well-written read. The three stories (of Laura, Gwen and Julia) follow three strong, independent, successful women on their paths to true love... with some help from their grandfather. The book that led me to so many other wonderful books by Roberts that I have lost count. Always the first book I recommend to friends - and it is never the last book they read by Roberts!

Ok so a Mills and Boon book ( my first ever) and I loved it, I adore Nora Roberts doing Romance so this worked well for me! Laura , Gwen and Julia have a matchmaking grandfather who is determined to see them married off to " good stock" ( hate that phrase lol) and the book is split into three parts, each covering how their romance pans out. Nice easy read, and I think I have a few more of that series kicking about, time to dig them out I think!

This has to be my favorite book series of all time (so far). Nora Roberts out did herself with this series. You start off with one generation and leads you into the next. This is an eleven story series(not eleven books). By the end of the series you are sad that it has to end. Your heart is so attached to the characters that you just don't want it to end. You would not regret reading this series.

Romance and Christmas, what's not to like?
Daniel McGregor is 90 years old and the patriarch of a rich and powerful family. And when he decides that it's time for his grand daughters to get married, then that is just what they will do.
One by one he picks what he considers the perfect man for the young women, gets them together and then sits back to let nature and love take their course.
Laura, Gwen and Julia each think they don't have time for love or a serious relationship, but the men Daniel McG...more

I really like Nora Roberts. This book was good, but too short. I loved the MacGregor family and now must read the rest of their books. I enjoy that she puts a lot of detail into each story, and while I felt each of the three novellas were good I just wished they could have been longer. I think my favorite was Julia's story, but I loved the 12 days of Christmas part of Gwen's story.

It's not bad, but it's not really anything new. I found myself looking for more than the same old love story that's been done a million times over. Nora Roberts is a fantastic writer and I've enjoyed many of her other books but this one just didn't really do much for me. I did not finsih it but it's still next to my bed so maybe I will change my mind and finish it later.

i was really happy about this book and the only reason i didnt rate it as a 5 is because to me the stories were way too short and you didnt know how things progressed after the male lead proposed to the female lead which was very irratating... however the book was written very nicely. my favorite would have to be Julia and Cullum because they had the best relationship too me.

I love the MacGregors!!! Can't wait to get started on the MacGregor Grooms! This Book is so fun to read! Each story has its unique qualities and it's similarities. It catches your attention with the first page, and by getting inside Grandfather MacGregors mind with his memoir entries. I love that MacGregor! Mora Roberts has done it again! I will be talking about and recomending her books for as long as I live. Love, love, love them!!

Dari ketiga kisah yg ada di novel ini, gw paling suka kisah Laura & Royce. Tapi... tiga"nya tetep enak utk diikuti, apalagi baca ttg kekocakan Daniel dlm menghadapi amarah cucu" perempuannya, pas mrk tau bahwa mrk ud masuk perangkap perjodohan kakeknya tsb. Kelakuan Daniel mang ga ngebosenin, dari mulai ngejer" Anna, sampe nyari jodoh utk cucu"nya.

Found this on the bookshelf of the ranch we stayed at in Uruguay. A grandfather sets up his three granddaughters unbeknownst to them. We get a peek into their lives, and their lusty relationships. A quick, fun read. Makes me think how wonderful it would be to spot the perfect man for my daughter and somehow finagle a way for them to fall in love!

What fun I had with this three in one book , Spent the night with a cup of tea , sighing and crying and dancing with joy with each story . Got to love the MacGregors they feel like My family and I hope you have as much fun as I did whiling away a Day enjoying each of the granddaughters as I did and all their hot men . A wonderful read

3 great books in 1. About 3 strong women, cousins, who are "handled" or guided by their grandfather - the head of the family. He sends men their way, without them knowing at first and then they figure it out after they fall head over heals in love with the men. It all ends in love, marriage and babies!! Another great hit by NR!

paling suka cerita laura n royce... :)
royce yg dah cinta mati ama laura sadar klo dy g sepadan n pantas jd pasangan hidup laura...dy tidak kuliah d harvard, bahkan kuliahx pun tak sampai selesai, tidak punya rumah,dy hanya mantan polisi yg baru memulai usahax, walaupun sebenarx dy g miskin tp klo dibandingn am laura dy jauh beda...laura keponakan mantan presiden, sang pewaris dan memakai anting berlian yg mungkin senilai dari pendapatanx selama setahun...
tapi klo Sang MacGregor merasa dy cukup baik...more

The MacGregors are Roberts most beloved family (in my personal opinion). I have read almost all of their saga. The MacGregor is the a real charater. The way he manipulates his family into finding the loves they deserve is priceless.

loved this book not normally a mills and boons fan but this was light easy reading i loved the relationship between the cousins and the relationship with their grandad, a bit predictable but i loved it and look forward to more in this series

These stories were too RUSHED individually. I would have preferred maybe that they all have taken place at the same time and intertwined with each other. Maybe starting and ending at different points in the book. NOT a favorite in this series.
Vivian Archer
I was hesitant at first, I don't like anthologies and this is essentially one with three wedding tales surrounding a trio of cousins. Each was a delightful and charming story that made you smile. Utterly sweet.
