Chapter 1

"So don't. Come hang out with me at work." Tod dropped back into my desk chair and swiveled to face me while I knelt to grab my sneakers from beneath my bed. "We can play naughty dress up with the hospital gowns and rearrange the supply closets."

I WANT TO PLAY!!!

OMG!!!!! can I give a triple 5 star on this book?!?!!! It IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!! I love it and I love th ebanter that goes on between the two HUdsons and not forgetting Sabine...that girl is catching on me. I mean I use to really 'don't like' her but she is growing on me. If I had to summarize this books then..

Okay, let me say it like that. If you took the last five movies I watched and look at the cast, then this was the love-child of Tom Hiddleston and Michael Fassbender. DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING?

Just a few moments ago I was still begging to get the book just a few. seconds. earlier.

And now I have actually read it, and can't believe everything that has happened, and want to cry and laugh and everything, and damn this!

Before I Wake is the sixth book in the popular Soul Screamers series. Full of action, mysteries and irresistible romance, if you loved the previous books you will definitely be satisfied with this one!

After being killed, Kaylee Cavanaugh is trying to live life like nothing's happened. But lots of things have happened since the day she was killed. After being recruited to find souls, Kaylee's time alone with her Reaper boyfriend has become increasing short. With all her friends and family endange...more

Brilliant!! There aren't words to describe how this book made me feel, so I'll do a quick sum up:

- Team Tod ALL THE WAY!!
- The jokes are the funniest things ever - especially Tod's. Who knew reaper's had such a spot-on sense of humour, hmm?!
- Suspenseful and heartache. The deaths are horrible and you just want to kick the bad guys where it hurts.
- Kaylee is a HAB (heroine with a backbone) and should be applauded on her courage and inner strength
- Tod is so hot! :D
- Repeat the above

This book was amazing!!!! I was riveted by this book every single second that I read. Not much more to say than that!!

Oh... wait - there is something else to say...

Tod!!!!

“Mr. Cavanaugh, I know this isn’t the future you wanted for Kaylee, and I know I’m not who you wanted for her. And I’m not even going to pretend to think I’m good enough – I know I’ve made mistakes, and I’m probably going to make more. But I love her with every single cell in my body. She the reason my heart beats – literally...more

.... I'm experiencing so many different emotions right now, I swear I'm about to explode. I want to throw something; I want to laugh hysterically; I want to cry my heart out; I want to dance on the rooftops.

This book.... this book is insane. And I absolutely loved every second of it. ♥

5 Ways You Can Tell You're Reading a Soul Screamers Book:

1. It's about bean sidhes (pronounced banshees). I mean, what other series can use girls screaming for death in the most amazing way possible? Not one that I know!
2. You want to scream, and cry, and hug the book AND Rachel Vincent for writing it! Reading this series is like going on a never-ending emotional roller coaster — and I mean that in the BEST possible way!
3. The author isn't afraid to put her characters through hell and back. I'm...more

I need this book NOW!!!!

And the interview that I just read (from Rachel Vincent) says that

'Today I turned in copy edits for Before I Wake, so it’s one step closer to being a real book. You guys are going to hate me for the ending. BAD THINGS happen, and no one’s safe. Both my editor and my copy editor left comments full of exclamation marks at the climax. I think they were traumatized. That’s only the second time in fourteen books that I’ve gotten story specific comments from a copy editor, so...more

I Can't believe I have to wait till June for more TOD I swear if anything happens to break him and Kaylee up I'm going to lose it! I've been some what obsessed with him since My Soul to Save but If I Die changed that curious obsession into a full blown need for this character I am seriously infatuated here I mean how much more perfect can a semi dead guy get!

All things considered, Kaylee Cavanaugh was pretty lucky. Sure, she died. But she got a second chance. And although she technically wasn’t alive, at least she wasn’t a reaper. She didn’t have to take souls, just reclaim them.

Immortality, however, wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Sure, she could make herself invisible when she wanted to hang out with her boyfriend. No, she didn’t have to sleep. No, she didn’t have to eat unless she wanted to. No, she wouldn’t age. And no, she didn’t actually h...more

This book had absolutely everything I could have wanted to make it a great book! Kaylee finally figuring out what it means to be an extractor as well as a bean sidhe, Tod and Kaylee growing closer, and Kaylee fighting with all she has to save her friends and family.

The Characters:

Tod - has always been my favorite (he and Uncle Brendon) right from the beginning, and to borrow a phrase from the book, I am even more impressed with the man he has become than the boy he was. We already knew he could be cheesy and silly, as well as selfless and dedicated, but he took both qualities to a new level in this book. I love him even more now.

Kaylee - from having no respect for her for the first four books, I have come to have tremendous respect for her growth and resi...more

If I Die was such an amazing book that I was afraid Before I Wake couldn't possibly live up to it. Boy was I wrong. Before I Wake, the sixth book is Rachel Vincent's highly imaginative YA urban fantasy series, was made of awesome. This series just gets better-and-better and I can't wait to see how it ends.

This is a hard book to review. There are so many things that happen that I don't want to ruin it for anyone. Just know that Kaylee is having a hard time adjusting to her afterlife and Tod is a...more

*Make sure to read books 1-5 in the Soul Screamers series before checking out this review! Definite spoilers ahead!*

Before I Wake picks up very shortly after where If I Die left off. Kaylee is dead, but she's had her soul reinstated, so to speak, so that she can be an extractor for the “reclamation department” of the afterlife. Her brand new job is to reclaim souls that have been stolen. But the afterlife isn't all it's cracked up to be...more

I have so many feelings about this book! I loved If I Die and I didn’t think that Rachel could top it, no way no how! I mean the thing that I had been waiting for forever finally happened in If I Die no not Kaylee dying but, if you’ve read If I Die you’ll know what I’m talking about ;)

Before I Wake made my heart soar at one moment then ripped it out and tore it to shreds the next.
There’s one scene in this book where I lost it. I mean literally lost it! Ugly red eyes, tears, runny nose the works...more

I adore the Soul Screamers series and I've loved every instalment so far, so I was eager to start reading Before I Wake, which is the sixth in the series.

In my opinion, the first half of the book was too slow and lacked action, which is why I dropped a star. Characters stood around talking, over-explaining and theorizing about the actions of the bad guy too much, which only led me to feel confused about the plot in general.

That said, I enjoyed the relationship and character development. In par...more

Spoiler Alert!

If I Die was positively the best book in the Soul Screamers series. It really raised the bar and actually made me excited for the sequel. However, when I finally read Before I Wake, it had me really disappointed. Don’t get me wrong; Before I Wake is a perfectly good novel, but compared to the awesomest read ever, it really can’t compare. I feel like Before I Wake was supernumerary after If I Die, but that’s only my opinion.

My favorite part of t...more

First of all, i gotta say I LOVE Tod!! He is absolutely awesome!

I got this book a while ago and but didn't actually get around to reading it until now and i am sorry it took me so long because this book was just as good as all the other ones (If i die was the best and but this comes in close second). This book was so good i do not know where to start, there are hunky reapers, school drama, hellions, daggers and of course a kick ass main character. Kaylee is awesome; she is tough when she needs t...more
