I killed two birds with one stone with this one. Not only did I finally read a book by Nora Roberts, but I also finally checked out the Overdrive audiobooks my library has been providing for the last year. I'd been hesitant to try it out, first because they initially didn't offer an iPod compatible format, then because I don't listen to audiobooks as much as I used to, so it generally takes me longer than the 7 or 14 day loan periods to finish one. But I'd decided to take a solo trip this weeken...more
I'm surprised how much I liked this one. If you've read my reviews before, I like at least 60/40 suspense/romance ratio. This was definately 50/50 - it might have even been heavier on the romance. But I still liked it. A couple reasons. 1) The way it starts. Roberts starts out strong throwing the mystery right at you so that it follows you through the whole story. Then she back tracks so you can see how it came to be. 2) The proffession. I think it helped that she writes journalists with such a...more
Começando pelas personagens, considero-as credíveis e bem elaboradas.

This is one of Nora Roberts' best efforts. I think she does a great job of creating characters that have true personalities and back stories. She slowly introduces them so that readers feel as though the personally know the characters. This novel is no different. The two main characters are so well developed and explained in this book. The peripheral characters also get great attention. The books story line makes sense and it builds beautifully until its conclusion. I have read all NR books and...more

That was one heck of a thriller and LOVED IT even though I didn't think I would! Best I've read in a long time! I was totally in love with Deanna and Finn, who wouldn't want a Finn in there own life.....and... though I had always suspected the person who turned out the be the bad guy I was honestly think more towards another person XD That just shows Nora is more clever than me! I loved that Nora throws what is going to happen right in the beginning and doesn't repeat it later, just continues a...more
i haven`t read very many nora robert novels but just 2 this and sacred sins, which has alot of similarities like psychotic killer on the leash, heroine in danger, hero who saves her, physical attraction despite the odds, which made me think are all novels r like that?
this was my 1st nora robert and as a 1st it was a page turner from the beginning, characters were very well structured, interesting and pleasure to know even the negative ones, becasue all of them have a rather unfortunate past,my verdict...more

There's a reason why Nora Roberts is a name in romance books. Private Scandals was an exquisite book. The first thing I noted was the the irregular series of incidents didn't make it like a romance book but rather as one about the dangers in the television world. It was very humane, provoking compassion for the heroine and real hate for her rival and former mentor. But it was also very down-to-earth. The danger, for example, television people take. Also that the pretty face we see on the telly i...more

Deanna Reynolds is a TV journalist at a small Chicago station. She has a lot of ambition, including a step-by-step plan for her career—in writing. In the beginning, Deanna is eagerly working extra hours for the station’s brightest star, Angela Perkins, hoping to gain knowledge and experience from this older, successful mentor. Deanna is also dating a psychologist who sometimes acts as an expert for Angela’s popular talk...more

Nora Roberts drives me nuts. I love her books when I need some escapist fiction. She can definitely tell a good story, and her research shows. However, I think her editors need a good slap to the head. The way that she changes perspective in the middle of scenes drives me up the wall. For example, in one scene, the scene was being told through Finn's eyes, and then right in the middle she started telling us what the killer was thinking. It's just sloppy writing, and I can't understand how any de...more
Deanna works in television her voice and face goes out and into our homes everyday, some get attached, obsessively attached. At first the notes seemed harmless, a fan, fan mail can be rather strange and out there. But then things start to happen, and the notes don't feel quite as harmless anymore. Obsession can be scary.
Great book, not my first adventure with Nora Roberts, but it was my first romantic suspense by her. Definitely need to read more in this genre by her.

I believe I read this book years ago. Probably enjoyed it more back then. It involved two TV talk-show hosts. Women who were very competitive. Followed their careers and competitions. One was very manipulative and stored secrets against her guests. The other was good through and through, but had a "fan" who obsessed about being with her. Turned murderous.
A fine romance and a decent read. It wasn't my favorite, but I enjoyed it. I borrowed a stack of Nora Roberts books from my mom when I was visiting, so I've got a bunch that I'll probably read that weren't necessarily recommended as Roberts' best to me.
I do wonder why creepy stalker killers are so much more common in romances than in everyday life, though....

Another gripping Nora Roberts mystery. I actually figured out who the stalker was, but not until close to the end of the book. What I like about Roberts is that I enjoy the main players--they are interesting and likeable, and she develops their characters so that I feel I know them as the story progresses. The story is built around the characters, rather than the other way around.

This is one of Nora Roberts earlier books, but I really enjoyed it. I didn't realize it wasn't on my goodreads list.

This was a grocery store potboiler. It was also the first Nora Roberts book I ever read. If there's ever another hurricane that makes me purchase a book at the supermarket, I might do it again.
I wasn't sure what to think about this one at first. I didn't think I was going to like it. I ended up really enjoying it. I liked that it took place over such a long period of time (for a NR book that is). I enjoyed Finn and Deanna. They were both delightful characters, which is not a term I use to describe characters very often.
The parts with Marshall actually had me shaking my head and laughing out loud at how stupid he was. Can we say self absorbed!?!?
