This book is worth reading if, for no other reason, than Ken Bruens' tribute to David Thompson, late publisher of Busted Flush press and longtime employee of Murder by the Book in Houston. I never met David but dealt with him quite a bit on the phone and through email and some of his recommendations have pride of place in my book collection. Well done by Mr. Bruen who is my favorite of the current crop of Irish crime writers, to take nothing away from John Connolly, DeClan Hughes, DeClan Burke,

For some time now, in addition to reading a bunch of crime fiction related blogs, I've also been dabbling in the anthology Down These Green Streets, in which a host of contemporary Irish crime writers responding to the requests of Dublin novelist and critic Declan Burke have turned in essays on various aspects of the crime story in Ireland present and past.
