YEAH CAN'T WAIT TO READ THIS!!!!

Now that I have read the book I must say that I'm slightly disappointed. Mainly because they didn't finish the whole story in this one book but that the second half is in the next book coming out in January I believe. Also the title, The Ripper, made me think we were going to learn about Stefan's days when he was called that (at least the current season of the show says he was called that sometime, when he was is boston sometime or was it Chicago during the...more

Nail-bitingly intense and exciting this is a book with bite!

As a huge fan of the extremely popular Vampire Diaries television drama series, I was also keen to get ‘stuck-into’ L.J Smith’s book series (of the Vampire diaries and Stefan’s diaries). Beautifully blending paranormal themes with a fresh, contemporary feel ‘The Vampire Diaries’ books are current and classy within this highly competitive genre. If you enjoy Young Adult fiction with a darkly sinister, spinechilling twist then I highly r...more

Doch anders...more

This book takes place in London, England, about twenty years later from the last book. Stefan and Damon as always have gone their separate ways because of past differences. Stefan is trying to lead a normal life, pretending to be human, and working on a farm on the outskirts of London. As fate would have it, Stefan asks for a week leave from his employer to investigate the deaths of women. The deaths are gruesome and the newspapers call the killer "The Ripper." Stefan suspects it's the work of v...more

Anyone who knows me or reads this blog will know I am a huge vampire fan, I have been since I was a little girl and my dad used to buy my vampire books. So, The Vampire Dairies are right up my street. I first read the books in my teens, many moons ago before they became as popular as they are now. They have never dated and I still love reading them even in my early 30's (shhh). The new books are just as good as the originals. Stefan is not my favourite in The Vampire Diaries series, my weakness...more

This was a good read, however it feels like these books is just a way to make money for the publishers. Dont get me wrong, I love the Stefan diaries books BUT except for the first and the second one I think that they dont really bring so much to the story about the two brothers. It´s more like they want to create new adventures of the blue to make money.

And one fact that I really dont like is that they change the storyline from the book to the series even though it is clear on the cover that thi...more

This is not the Ripper you think of from the Vampire Diaries show... Nope, this is THEE ripper. And the brothers are wrapped up in the middle of it. Stefan has made a nice little life for himself outside of London. He knows it cannot last for long, but he'll enjoy it while he can. A trip to London threatens to shatter it all when he finds Damon's alias in the society pages and a horrific murder on the front page. Of course he needs to stick around, find his brother, and save London and the girl...more

Kvůli originálnímu názvu (The Ripper - ten český mi mimochodem přijde trochu mimo) jsem si myslela, že kniha bude obsahovat hodně...more

Vampire Diaries: Stefan's Diaries #4

This is book 4 in the STEFAN'S DIARIES series. This series is not penned by LJ SMITH but by 2 other authors. 1 of whom works on the tv series (Julie Plec). Many are and are not fans. They feel it is an insult and sell out to the actual VD series by LJ Smith. I actually love this series & prefer it to TVD by LJ. LJ's books are rather good I just did not "connect" to them. I guess it could be because I watched an entire season on tv BEFORE reading them so St...more

Ale... bude to naozaj on?

Kniha sa - podobne ako predošlé - drží určitej dejovej línie, zväčša problému...more

It was alright but not the best in series so far. The story wasnt completed and continues in the next book. This is not about Stefans ripper stage that is mentioned in the tv show it is about the real life Jack the Ripper in London. This was a bit of a disappointment because ripper Stefan is much more intriguing to find out about rather than the mopey miserable Stefan. He really is quite the whiner actually and I think that Damons Diaries would have been much more of an exciting read if he had w...more

Another great backstory of the Salvatore brothers as told through the history of the show's mythology. Great quick and fun read for those who love Victorian London and the current CW show The Vampire Diaries. Damon as his snarky best is the opposite of the perpetually brooding Stefan. As Damon likes to point out, Stefan can't resist a good Damsel in Distress and staying connecting to the humans of which he is no longer one. Damon relishes in the fact that he feels this is Stefan's flaw and will...more

I have read the first three in this series. I liked the first two, got a bit annoyed with the third. This one....just ticked me off! I cannot read anymore. I found the story was jumping around. Some things were different then before. It just did not make since.

Oh, and if you think it has ANYTHING to do with the show (I mean come on, it has one of the actor's face on the cover), you are so wrong! Do not make the mistake and think it will give you insight as to what is going on TVD. It has none!

L.J. Smith has been writing books for Young Adults since the 1980s. She started writing the The Vampire Diaries in 1991.Due to various personal reasons, L.J. Smith disappeared from the writing world back in 1998, leaving the last book in the Night World series, Strange Fate, unfinished. Happily, she returned at the beginning of 2008 with a new website, some short stories, and Strange Fate in the works, along with a new Vampire Diaries trilogy.
Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec picked up the rights...more

I read 4 0f these books last year, so don't remmber all,but ganna try.Kathernturns Stefan&Damon into vampires in Fells Church when she was visiting.Damon got mad at Stefan for making him drink form a human.Stefan goes to New Oeleans because he's a ripper, until he meets Lexi. She teaches him how to live off of animal blood. He goes from there to Boston, where he marries, but somebody kills her&all her family. Then he goes to London, where someone is killing a lot of people.Damon follows him t...more

Tying historical events into a work of fiction can be tricky, but Smith's choice of Jack the Ripper works to her advantage because there was never any conclusive verdict on who the murderer was. There were many suspects (both popular at the time, and in current speculation), but having a vengeful vampire as the real Ripper is highly realistic (if one suspends belief in the supernatural). Not only are vampires often violent towards victims, they tend to prey on the same demographic as Jack the Ri...more

Love reading these books, really help to bring more of the show to life! Like others, I thought this book was about how Stefan was the ripper but after seeing the series makes sense why they didn't do it b/c they already told us that story, why waste a book on it?

Anyways, this is about the originals vampires. I really enjoyed it, reading these books are always a quick read and very much enjoyable. Stefan is in London to get away from Damon as well as the originals like Klaus that he was dealing...more

When I first picked up the book I got excited because I thought we would be looking into Stefan's Ripper days. The books are supposed to be based off of the show so it was a good guess. But in fact they were about the actual Ripper from London, Jack the Ripper. And as usual Stefan was feeding on animals and not lusting after girls and tearing them apart. I was disappointed because I happen to enjoy Ripper Stefan and figured this would fill in a few holes from the past but it only really created...more

Pryč je i Stefan z New Orleans a z New Yorku.
Jeho pomíjivý klid končí,...more

So, finally read the next book in the vampire diaries spin-off series and here are my views. Presenting The Vampire Diaries: Stefan's Diaries #3 The Ripper . Again this series is not written by L.J. Smith and while the book cover mentions her name and the TVD head honchos Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson but it is not written by them also, maybe its a collaboration between the three or someone commitioned by them wrote these books...

Here is the summary of the book:

The cover:

If you didn’t know this before, then here you go; this cover is created using the promo photo of season two of the hit TV series The Vampire Diaries . Yep, this is why this cover is gorgeous and I had no idea how beautiful Stefan’s eyes are until now .

The storyline:

I am a huge fan of L.J. Smith’s writing style although I recently knew that Stefan’s Diaries aren’t entirely written by her, but I still like it.

I have read the previous 3 books in the series and you can find my review of th...more

This review and more has been posted at my blog: Addicted to Words -- Book Reviews!

In this latest installment, we see Stefan Salvatore living just outside London, England twenty years from where we last left off in this series.
He is no longer feeding on humans. But he no longer feels guilt for those that he had killed. He is just trying to live a normal life -- inasmuch as he can.
But things don't go well, as you have it. On a trip to London, Stefan discovers that someone has been killing and to...more

Personally this was not my favourite of the books I have read so far, but nevertheless, it did not take me long to get through. I am still, as I am through the TV show, drawn to Damon and his portrayal and as I have said in previous TVD reviews, the similarities between him in the books and at least in the beginning of season 1 are quite uncanny - it is a credit to both writers (TV and book) that they have been able to match their portrayals quite so closely.

Spoiler alert!!! And i don't usually do spoilers, but i have to this time! This was ok...so,so. A little boring with stiff, boring, sappy Stefan( why can't we have Damon's diaries, huh? Lol). Truth be told it was a quick read that kept me slightly interested. Nothing special though. I like the "ripper" thing, but thought it would end up being Stefan during a blackout, or something a little more interesting than a frame job ( would've made for a more interesting plot twist.) But nooooo! Oh well, w...more

The story of Stephan Salvatore continues and I was hoping that on this book there would be more action and much more suspense...however I felt that there was something missing out of this one. There was some mystery and the suspense of trying to figure out who Jack the Ripper was the only reason that kept me reading, but yet it was lacking excitement in the romance department which you come to look for in a good vampire novel. Hopefully #5 turns out to be better or have a better story line.
