This book could also be considered "chick-lit." Ha ha. I'm so funny. But this book really is. I think some of the humor would go over some kids' heads, but the adult reading it would enjoy. And the rhyming would still keep their attention and there's plenty to look at in the pictures. Would work well for a story time, but I think even better for a lap-sit reading because the child could take more time to look at the pictures and the reader would be able to better point out various things--like t ...more

Cluck O'clock is a great book about telling time. It describes the routine of the animals on the farm throughout each day. They are describing in detail what the farmer brings them each time he comes outside. The animals have an intruder at the end of the story but they scare her off by throwing dirt in her eyes and afterwards they hurry to get to bed becuase they dont have much time to sleep before it's time to get up and do it all over again.

This is a great book to use in math with teaching t
Grade Level(s): K-3
* A flock of hens teaches students how to tell time as they invite students to follow them on their fun-filled day, from sunrise at "4 o'cluck" to bedtime at "7 o'cluck" in the evening.
* For younger grade levels (PreK-1), use to teach how to create and follow a schedule.
* Each hen is illustrated in a different pattern (i.e. stripes, hearts, etc), so this book can be used to teach patterns and shapes to younger grade levels.
* For an activity, draw blank clocks on a dry erase bo

This book can be used to tell time. It shows what chickens/hens/roosters do when they wake up and when they go to sleep. This book is a little different from other books that experiment with time is because of the time intervals that the author uses. Instead of everything being hourly, the author uses time like, 10:57... shows that time is not just hourly, but has minutes that make up the hour.

This book tells the story of numerous hens that are a funny flock in both their actions throughout the busy work day down on the farm and in the way they are portrayed in the illustrations, with different imaginative colorations and characteristics to lend each of them individuality. This book focuses on telling time as a repeating pun of "o'cluck" is used. It was a cute book.

This would be a fun book to use as a readaloud along with text particpiation. You could have the students have thier own clocks and everytime the time changed in the book they would have to quickly change their clocks! It would be fun and fast paced and I think that the students would get alot out of it! :)

Very good book that goes through the life of a chicken in a day. From waking up in the morning to scaring away the fox at the end of the night. It hits on time in different forms like 20 til 10. Also hits on teamwork when fighting the fox.
This book was about the day in the life of hens living on the farm. I think kids would like this because of the humor and it also is a great farm book. Kids love farms. I would use this with a farm unit.

This is a great book to share as a read aloud with students who are learning or practicing to tell time-could easily have a large manipulative clock at the ready to translate 4 o'cluck into 4 o'clock..etc.

This book was super fun and showed a cute farm theme, which could be made into a farm theme unit in the classroom as well. Great for kindergarten/ first grade/ second grade (depending when the teacher teaches time concepts). It teaches time and what happens on a farm during certain times.
Telling the time has never been more fun, as the hens in this book watch the clock from "food time" to "fox time."

Although there was too much near-rhyme for my taste, I can overlook it when the illustrations, concept and text all work together to make it an overall fun read. And this is! Charming book.
