Her new release, Werelove: Midnight Revelations, picks literally right up where the sizzling roar of Werelove: Dusk Conspiracy left off – practically with the next sentence, had Conspiracy been longer.
We pick right back up with all the characters of the previous book, and the lines developed in the second story are built firmly on the platform established in Conspiracy. Humans and Weres coexist for the best part, but the world you thought you knew of werewolves from the old Lon Chaney movies is nowhere to be found. In Spletzer’s universe Weres are not only recognized as coexisting with humans, but they are a powerful force in everyday life.

Midnight Revelations reintroduces us to the main character, Laylah LeCroix, her cruel and overbearing farther, Dr. Henry LeCroix, her ‘watchers’ Jacques and Naiya, her best friend, Britta, and Donil, the Feline Alpha Were determined to make Laylah his mate. Laylah’s Father is an Alpha Wolf. Her mother was a Feline Were. Jacques, Naiya, and many of Laylah’s friends are Were’s. But then, so is Laylah. The problem is, she has no idea. Laylah believes herself to be human, and her father is determined to do everything possible to keep her from finding out the truth of her heritage, even to the point of torture and both physical and emotional abuse.

While Britta is working tirelessly to countermand Henry’s cruel, authoritarian control of his seventeen year old daughter’s life by doing everything in her power to bring Laylah and Donil together, Henry is likewise becoming more and more determined to control not only her present but her future, with plans that include a mate of his choosing who will benefit only Henry LeCroix, LeCroix Industries, and his endless thirst for power, with dreams reaching far beyond the confines of the New Florida Territory, the Were Council, and the Human Tri-Council. To achieve his goals, Henry LeCroix is willing to crush anyone or anything that stands in his path – including his own child.

When I reviewed Conspiracy, I said it was Author Spletzer’s breakout novel. The one where she stepped out of her comfort zone of Y/A and wrote fairly compelling science fiction that even the most hardcore Sci/Fi fan could enjoy.

In penning Revelations, the author steps back into a more comfortable place. While certainly an edge of the seat read, there is more of the romance and teen angst typical of other Y/A stories, and of the author’s previous works.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but perhaps not what I expected when I picked this one up. I was hoping for more of the more traditional Sci/Fi-Fantasy taste I loved in Conspiracy. Judging from the ending, there will be at least one more installment in the Werelove series. I hope Ms. Spletzer returns to the tone she began with in Conspiracy.

That said, Werelove: Midnight Revelations is a fast paced, intense read that delves into some dark places we would often rather not go. Really for the Y/A Twilight audience, readers of Sci/Fi and fantasy romance will also enjoy this book.

She is once again placed at the mercy of her father’s will and he isn’t having any arguments. She is basically trapped. Now the rush is on to save her from the future her father has planned for her. Is there any hope for her? The time is running out and everyone has choices to make. Donil has to choose between alpha duties or saving his future mate Laylah. Jacques has to choose between following his alpha or his conscience. Stefan has to choose between staying on the sidelines or rushing in. Laylah’s happiness depends on everyone else’s choices. She has no choice.
I went right into the second book after finishing the first. This book finds Laylah asserting herself a little bit more. Henry has a plan in place that he is not being up front about. Donil is not living up to my expectations. Jacques is making me question whether he really has Laylah’s best interests. Britta is still the constant friend who never wavers in her support of Laylah. A character who came on the canvas in the first book but was not a big player is now taking up some major story line. Laylah’s grandmere comes for a visit and Laylah does not benefit from it. The bully, Violet, has a new role and is still just as mean. The council is turning out to be ruthless. Stefan keeps tabs on Laylah from a distance but by the end he is forced to take action to help Laylah.
The story had me turning the pages all afternoon until I reached the last word. My only disappointment is that it ended without giving me the outcome to a very intense event. Book 3 will have to come soon because I am dying to find out what happened. I liked that the story kept moving along with twists and turns that had me questioning everyone’s motives. I thought that Laylah’s life would get a little better because she seemed to have a lot of questions from her ordeal in the first book. I was disappointed that she really didn’t do that much to find the answers to her questions. It wasn’t until nearly the end of this book that she is blind sided with the information that she is a were and so are most of the people she knows. Her father is more diabolical than the first book let on. The layer of physical abuse is added to the emotional abuse that Laylah already suffers at the hand of her father. That was a little hard to read. The good thing about Laylah in this story is she is starting to be more assertive. This is due partly to one of her guardians not giving her the serum that keeps her were side under control. We finally see this passionate, confident side to Laylah but it only scratches the surface. Every time Laylah tried to assert herself her father squashed it like a bug. I was a little bit disappointed in Donil. He is supposed to be alpha which in my mind means confidence. Twice he neglects Laylah because his pride took a hit for not being able to protect Laylah. Donil loves her but he treats her like a precious breakable thing. He kind of helps keep her from coming out of her shell all the while saying that he wants to help build her confidence.
As a series I have to say that I like it. The high points for me are that it is set in this world where the humans and the weres co exist. There are many different were clans and each one has its own alpha and rules. There is a council that oversees the weres but they are not looking out for the interests of all the weres but for the power that comes with the title. There is animosity between clans. Lots of plotting and power struggles keep it interesting. The characters are well defined and the reader can’t help but get emotionally involved. The story stays on the mind long after the last word is read. This is a series that I am looking forward to continuing. I can’t wait to escape to this world again.

Once again such a great read I finished it in a day! This one has more action and unexpected surprises that have you at the edge of your seat. The ending... OMG!! I hope book 3 comes out very soon because the suspense has my belly in knots! My review will be short. I want to give you an idea without ruining anything for a future reader. There really is a lot going on and the surprises within with have you voicing aloud :D

I love this series! When Lakisha first contacted GCR and asked for a review, I was skeptical. I was NOT and still not (slowly working into it) a huge fan of paranormal. But I was willing to give it a try. And all I can say is I was pulled into a world that I had no idea existed and I fell in love with her book. I enjoyed her book so much that when I finished I contacted her. And I nearly flipped my lid when she told me book two wasn't finished. But now I kinda like knowing that I have more time with my favorite characters.

So in "Werelove Book 1" <~~ Click for review. Laylah is a were. But she's unaware that she is because her father keeps it from her. And basically forbids everyone else around her to tell her. She has no knowledge about paranormal life basically it's non-existent to her. Then one night in her dreams she meets this incredible hot guy and from there things changed. Life had gotten a bit more interesting for her.

Midnight Revelations basically picks up were book one left off. Laylah stuck in her bedroom, because her cold-hearted no good father. (Sorry Kisha, he's just so heartless) is always grounding her. But the difference now is that Laylah is more suspicious about things and she stands up for herself more here. She's still respectful and all but between her and her bff Brita, (whom I loooveee) she begins to have a bit more fun. And that's what teenagers should be doing. She's in her senior year of high school and she still haven't experienced life at all, just a few stolen moments with her heart's divine.

If Laylah thought life was unfair and her father was cruel back in book one. She seen nothing compare to what she has to endure in this book. She's becoming of age right around the time of her high school graduation . And she can't wait to live her life in freedom. But little does she know that her father has different plans and it isn't what she thinks.

So here's what I thought of this sequel, I loved this book. I loved that Kisha gave Laylah more time to be a young girl. She got a few stolen moments of happiness in which she deserves. However the ending did baffle me and I had to ask her about it. Basically Laylah's father isn't one to be messed with and if he can't have it his way, neither is anyone else. It left me thinking, "Come on Kisha! Give this girl a break!" LOL. Though the ending had me baffled. I'm looking forward to the third book. If you're into the YA Paranormal genre, I think you should give this series a try. You won't regret it and can't go wrong book one is .99 cents on Smashwords. A 4 stars from me and a Good Choice for Reading.

Laylah Le Croix is in for another surprise in this book. Not only did she realize that she is in lone with Donil Silientshadow, but her father is inviting her to more dinners with an elderly gentleman named Dayid Yon. This second volume of the Werelove series certainly did not disappoint. It maintains the suspense of the first, deepens the character development, and made me eager to read the rest of the series. The book is listed as Young Adult, but it will be just as appealing to adult readers. It's another "can't put down" volume.

Oh, and I thought the first book was great. This just keeps getting better. The characters emotions jump right off the page. I feel pure hatred towards her father and the sadistic person he is... I want to kill him. I cannot wait til the end of this month for the 3rd book. oh by the way... good cliff hanger

Believing this to be the second edition to the series I was disappointed to learn it was a re-edited version of the first book Midnight Relations, with a little more of the darker secrets revealed.

This version gives the reader a little more insight into the dealings behind the scenes of the main characters (Laylah’s) life, which unfortunately impact upon her.

Dusk Conspiracy ends in exactly the same way as the first book, Midnight Relations – with a jaw dropping cliff hanger and the reader wantin...more
