Clockwork Angel, why couldn't you be as awesome as Clockwork Prince? ~~Oh, yeah. Tessa and Jem didn't have a romantic relationship.~~ Clockwork Prince was worth the wait, so worth it. I have no regrets, and I love this book.

The Black:

The most dreadful part of this series is the love triangle (which is, ironically, the most loved as well). I have an honest question, and I geniunely want to know the answer as well: Why do YA authors feel the need to include a love triangle? Why?

Back to Clockwork Prince; the Will-Tessa-Jem love triangle is quite possibly the worst I have ever had the misfortune of coming across.

A problem I didn't note in my Clockwork Angel review, but was made rather clear by reading Clockwork Prince, was that the characters do not feel Victorian in the least. They feel like the smirking, hip teenage demon hunters of Clare's The Mortal Instruments. There's just far too much sarcasm used. Oscar Wilde was indeed known for his dry wit, but it wasn't really common for Victorians to be outwardly sarcastic with each other. They did things with style and subtlety. Even if my history of Victorian parlance isn't entirely accurate here, I'm pretty damn sure that Victorian gentlemen wouldn't roll their eyes at the cook and go: “Oh God, you're Irish, can you make anything without potatoes?”

Another problem with this book was how utterly boring it was. I'm talking fall asleep whilst skim reading boring. The twists weren't clever, the subplots weren't interesting, and sometimes, characters go somewhere, discover something, and then... drop it for a bit. The revelation about Will's character didn't make me feel anything for him other than imagining some wangsty Victorian fellow trying to come across as a broody heartthrob, and falling flat on his skinny little derriere.

And you know, there's a final volume of this that's going to be released this year. Then Clare is free to work all she wants on Lady Midnight, the first volume in her new series. Set in the future. Which focuses on a girl brought into the world of the Shadowhunters and the two boys who she has to decide between. Oh joy. If Clare likes playing literary flavour of the month with her books, then let's just say that The Mortal Instruments was probably the well-worn, dark and musty yet spine-tingling flavour of the supernatural. Her Infernal Devices series has the rich, heady, and acrid, smoggy flavour of Victorian steampunk. And the pinch of spice that I bet will flavour this futuristic retelling of Clary, Jace and Alec/Tessa, Jem and Will, will be the bland, government-sanctioned taste of dystopia fresh off the trend from The Hunger Games. Blergh.

I know why I love Will so much, and so irritated with Jem, and awed by Tessa's choice. It's because I am so attached to this book. Awesome series! I really love how the story is written although I am still devastated of Will's fate. I cried at the end of the story.

I'm impressed by Cassandra Clare... she really learned how to make a strong love triangle. In Mortal Instruments, I think around 95% of the people were team Jace instead of Simon. Here, it seems pretty equal. :)

Nope. No. I will not do it. I am ecstatic for the next installment in the Mortal Instruments, and I love the NY Shadowhunter crew, but this prequel series is insufferable. I couldn't even finish Clockwork Angel. It bored me to death. It bored me so much I contemplated eating all the pages just to amuse myself.

Unfortunately, ink is not the most digestible of materials.

This book has turned me into an immature manic mess. I want to stomp around and demand the next book right NOW. I am also simultaneously patting myself on the book for finally getting around to reading it, and kicking myself in the shins for not having enough patience to wait for Clockwork Princess so I wouldn't be putting myself through this torture! It's a bit of a sweet torture, but torture nonetheless. Oh why do you do this to me Cassandra Clare? I am truly at a loss of where to begin. Characters? Plot? World building? Overall awesomeness? I don't know. What I do know is that this is not a filler book. It's a great story on its own with nice development and growth in all areas. One of things I liked best actually was the feel of family in the Institute. Charlotte is under fire for her handling of the whole Magister catastrophe. She has two weeks to catch Mortmain or she will lose her position as the head of the London Institute. Even with all the intelligence and charisma these group of characters have it is a tall order, and one they might not be able to deliver.

As always we are in for some comical but at the same time adventurous situations. Things that will make you ache for the characters and things that will make you happy for them as well. Tessa is one of the best heroines to have as the interest of the love triangle. I still (and probably always will) hate the whole convoluted mess that love triangles are but it's easy to root and care for Tessa as a person, which is the probably the same thing Jem and Will see in her too. I want to let people know that if you hated Will in the first one it will be almost impossible for you not to forgive him in this one. Really. Some behind the scene characters have more of role to play here, especially Sophie. I absolutely adored her in this one. Then of course there is the occasional surprise here and there but my lips are locked on those matters. The expected action content was not as prevalent in this book but you can feel it's right at the surface and the enemy is just waiting for the right moment to pounce. I feel that I am an enthusiastic fan, and I love to see the mass of fans Clare has picked up. I could go on for ages but I won't. And guys, not to spoil it for you, but Clare set up the next book perfectly.

Later added: I totally forgot to post this song. There is another version by Escala that I love, but this is the original artist. The song reminds me of the gentle hearted yet strong Jem.(less)

Cassie has a way of making everything she writes about feel real and lively. While I'm reading her book I feel like I've been transported to Victorian London for an unforgettable adventure with Will, Jem and Tessa. Clockwork Prince is definitely one of those unforgettable stories fans won't be able to forget. With it's twists, heart break, betrayal, love and so much more.

Big sigh. I am in love with Cassie's characters. They're so well developed that I feel like I'm reading a story about people I know. I love how invested she allows me to become with Will, Jem, Tessa, Magnus and each of the characters from Clockwork Prince. Each of their stories come to life and intertwine so beautifully. Their emotions, their thoughts and the motives for their actions are incredibly realistic and engaging. I loved seeing how this series ties in with The Mortal Instrument Series, with the Lightwoods and Wayland families, as well as Magnus and a couple other names that will be familiar to fans who have read City of Glass. Oh Magnus, I didn't think I could love him any more than I already did.

There's so much I want to say about Will, Jem and Tessa. Can their stories get any more heartbreakingly beautiful? Their are the type of characters you can't help but love despite knowing that something is going to happen to one of them that will rip your heart out and leave you wondering how you could have so helplessly fallen in love with them. At the same time you wouldn't trade feeling that way even if you had known the outcome. These are characters that you laugh with, cry with, sigh in frustration over, get mad at and in the end love them for who they are, despite some of their not so stellar moments.

Tessa is a true heroine is every aspect of the word. She continues to be my favorite female character. She's strong, independent, and one of the most trusting, and forgiving characters who has a way of seeing the good in people who don't see it in themselves. She is loving, and courageous. She's intelligent and witty, and she's my all time favorite heroine. Her character growth in Clockwork Prince is so beautifully written. Jem and Will match her growth perfectly. The are so well written, and after finishing this story they've now claimed the number one spot for my all time favorite love triangle, moving Jace and Clary to second place. That's saying a lot.

Clockwork Prince is my FAVORITE of all of Cassie's books. This surpassed all of my expectations and in true Cassie form, completely surprised me with her twists. She gave me answers to questions I had from Clockwork Angel, and left me with more questions for Clockwork Princess. She gave me romance, plenty of sarcasm, wit, plenty of laugh out loud moments, one liners that have become some of my favorite quotes, moments that made me cry that were either joyous ones or ones of utter heartbreak. She again gave me a believable world where Shadowhunters and Downworlders really do exist, and her Victorian London is a place I could really go visit.

I can not possibly list all the things I love about this book. Cassie is a phenomenal writer. Her awe inspiring, beautifully crafted, and engrossing talent for writing a series that's complex, and simple. It's a perfect blend of historical, steampunk and paranormal, that leaves me more than satisfied and wanting so much more. It's bloody brilliant! This book is dare I say it, a perfect steampunk, paranormal, YA read! This is beyond a 5 star book for me. I HIGHLY recommend picking this book up when it's out in December. I'll be posting a more detailed review once the book is out.

The first book, Clockwork Angel, has left me impatient for the books to come. I think I'm more fond of Infernal Devices than I am of Mortal Instruments. There's just something about the Victorian Era that intrigues me, and it's really interesting to see the family ties, and get a sense of the Shadowhunter world back then.

Even tough, I love to see Tessa with Will, I have to admit it that I love to see Tessa and Jem too. Too bad that Mortmain didn't show up. Love this book. I think this book are better then The Mortal Instruments series #peacenohate

Five hundred pages in which very little occurs other than (say it with me) the love triangle. This whole book is a love triangle in search of a story.
Do they find Mortmain? No.
Do they even find out where he might be? No.
Do they find out why Mortmain wants Tessa? No.
Do they find out what exactly Tessa is? No.
Do Tessa and Jem get up close and personal? Yes.
Do Tessa and Will get up close and personal? Yes.
Do you get my point? I hope so.
I don't like this.
There is nothing that happens here that moves...more

Ok, honestly, I was planning on taking my time and writing this long, kick-ass review over Clockwork Prince with spoilers because I just HAD to let out my feelings, but I don't think that will be possible. I'm not the best reviewer (I don't enjoy writing as much as reading) but going over the events of the book will just make me more emotional than I already am. So this review will just be me rambling on about stuff (with no spoilers), but I hope you get something out of it.

This just made your heart break for Will even more. The love he has for his family that he could never show. I hope this somehow is fixed in Clockwork Princess.

The inscription to Tessa *sigh*, who doesn't want poetry written for them?!! I love Will! I so want his heart to be repaired in Clockwork Princess!!
