I didn't enjoy this much because the feminist in me I guess can't stand or comprehend a heroine who allows her family to push her into loveless marriage and what not, yes I am from India where arranged marriages are the norm but not in the way they were written in the book, Julia's family doesn't seem to care for her at all and she allows them to push her with thoughts like my children will be enough, Boohoo, aren't we in the 21st century? I could never get past a heroine who buried her head in ...more

In her new book, Not So Perfect Princess, Melissa McClone once again combines fantasy and reality to create a fresh royal romance. At a time when royal weddings share the headlines alongside news stories about societies where women still are not allowed to drive, McClone’s contribution to the “Once Upon A Kiss” miniseries showcases her gift for weaving a fairy tale love story with contemporary issues and modern past times.

The last time “Jules”, Princess Julianna of Aliestle, captivated me, she w

Dutiful Princess Julianna has a secret—she's actually happiest makeup free, sailing with the sea breeze in her hair. Her attraction to rebel prince Alejandro is instant— but her intended is his brother, the proper but dull Enrique!

For the first time, Julianna's irresistibly tempted. Before long, she's spending her nights sailing with gorgeous Alejandro while the rest of the palace believes she's sleeping. Soon she'll have to choose—remain the perfect princess, or follow her heart and stop sle

Another of the Once Upon A Wish miniseries stories by Harlequin. Each story is based upon a fairy tale. This story is based on Sleeping Beauty.

In this story, the princess, who has been raised to always follow the dictates of her father and society, hates her life. Although she is rebellious inside, she is never allowed to show it. She is a strong minded woman, and would love to rebel, but doesn’t really know how. It is fascinating to watch as she slowly, but surely, rebels against the life she w

LoveRomance
Harlequin's Romance books are usually pretty reliable for a sweet romantic read, but I thought this one was a step above others I've read in 2011. The parallels between this story line and the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty grabbed my heart. And I loved Princess Julianna, pulled between her family, duty, the women she represents, her true nature and her real love interest. Plus I thought Julianna was a gem as a side character in a previous royalty romance (sorry I can't find title to that one). Whil ...more

I actually gave this one a 3-1/2 rating. I liked the general story, but most of the characters were unlikeable. Enrique was a self-centered idiot, both Kings were unsympathetic control freak chauvinists, and Brandt was a spoiled playboy. I know it was for the story, but I wish I felt they had learned something when it was over. Alejandro was ok. He, at least, had the maturity to own and run a successful business and was trying to help Julianna be happy. Julianna wanted to do what was right for h ...more

After reading about Julianna in Expecting Royal twins Im happy she was able to find hapiness. Living in a sexist society it is hard for a women to voice their opinions and persue their dreams.Julianna wishes to find a place where she can break free and persue her desires if sailing. In the end she finds everything she has always wanted and is able to break free of what has always been expected of her.

I don't know why but I love it when the woman is promised to a man then she falls for his brother but I do and this book is amazing.

I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband, two daughters, son, dog and too many cats! I write "sweeter" contemporary romance novels for Harlequin and Tule Publishing.
