I have no idea how to rate this. It's the weirdest period piece. One paragraph will have good, general relationship advice such as not to go to sleep on an argument, and that sharing interests is important to long-term happiness. Then, the next paragraph will be full of praise for eugenics and calls for women to do a better job of sublimating their desires and hopes and putting more of themselves into their husbands' careers, etc.

Glad to have read it, though it sometimes made me nauseous to do

Interesting to see how the perspectives of marriage have changed since the early 20th century. There was an essay by Eleanor Roosevelt about whether or not to get married - and really it sounded more like "whether or not you are fit to have children." Overall, I got a good giggle and most of it must be taken with a grain of salt. But I also believe that some of the advice may be helpful to some.

Overall this was very good. I think the world would be better if everyone listened to this. But of course like all books it needs to be read with discernment and a grain of salt.

Audio book was free from librivox.org.

Obviosly very out of date, but still contains a fewgood pieces of advice. It was a difficult read for me, but I finally made it through.

There is nothing quite like reading a 60 year-old guide to marriage. I found it fascinating.
