I loved this book, a great ending to the series. The courtship of 3 couples unfold. One of my favorite parts was the prayers prayed by the characters. Probably the best I've heard in fiction, yet it doesn't overpower the book. The storm scene was intense! The narrator did an excellent job.
The Survivor is the third book in the Families of Honor series. This is the first series by Shelley Shepard Gray that I have read from start to finish. As I have just finished this series, I have a very satisfied and happy feeling about the way this series has gone. Although, I really wouldn’t mind one more book just to see how everyone is doing. I feel like there is still more story to tell in Jacob’s Crossing.

One of the things I have really liked about this series is the fact that there has b

Mattie's body has healed from the cancer that nearly took her life...but can she find the man who can mend her lonely heart?

Mattie has faced more in her twenty-three years than she ever imagined possible. Having successfully battled cancer, she's ready to reenter the world with hope for her future. But while she was in and out of hospitals, other Amish girls her age were courting and finding the men they would marry. The only man who's ever made her heart beat faster is Graham Weaver, her best f
Mercy...Mattie and Graham could drive a girl to drink with all the dancing around their feelings they did. Will she, won't he? Over and over. Though, it's not annoying enough not to keep reading. An odd thing of which to be grateful, but thank goodness for the extreme weather in this book, else one might still have been waiting for a conclusion.

Thanks, Ms. Shepard Gray for another enjoyable book series. :)

This is the third and final book in the Families of Honer series. We will find out all the answers, and spend time with some old friends.
Mattie Lapp is now cancer free, and her friend Graham Weaver has been there throughout it all. He held her when she was sick from chemo, and went with her to her Doctor's appointment. Mattie has now asked him to help her find someone, and to fix her up with another Amishman. You will have to wonder if these two will ever get it together, or will William now win
There a tronato that goes though their community but find out what is important. We find out that Calvin and Lucy are expecting their first baby. Mattie is struggling with her emotions and where she get past about her best friend Graham Weaver as more then a friend. Graham is also trying to figure out his feeling for Mattie. There a rumor going around saying Jenna Yoder is carrying Graham Weavers child. We are introduced to several new characters in this story and series.

This was a fun filled an
I loved this series and this conclusion was worth the wait. It is a story of family, faith and integrity. It is facing your trials and working through them, coming out a better person because of them. The characters are real and the situations compelling. I could not put it down.

Another wonderful story by Shelley Shepard Gray!! I have really enjoyed this series.
This was the third book in the Families of Honor Series.

I enjoyed it for the most part - but was a little disappointed as I don't think we got closer on all the characters by the end of the book / series.

Maddie, fianlly cancer free tries to refind her faith and love. She asks her best friend to find her an Amish gentleman to court her, he of course is crushed as he wants to be the suiter. Then there is Jenna, who dated Graham (the best friend) for a short period and finds herself pregnant and de
Just completed the third novel in the Sugarcreek Series, "The Survivor" By Shelley Shepard Gray. I enjoy a novel that provides me with an array of emotions from sadness, anger, tears, laughter, and joy. In this novel my curiosity was primed because there were a lot of love triangles and being a romantic I just had to find out what characters connected or didn't connect. Another factor that made "The Survivor" so interesting for me is that the characters all dealt with their own life's crisis and ...more
This was the last book in the Families of Honor series and I very much enjoyed continuing with the stories of the characters beginning to end. These are light, inspirational books that have people dealing with difficult situations in their lives, leaning on their faith and struggling with everyday challenges. Some of these challenges are not so heavy and some are very painful. I enjoyed learning about the Amish lifestyle. I will miss the people I met here, but look forward to reading other serie ...more

It is Mattie's turn, she has battled cancer and won, and now she wants love and a family. So she asks her best friend, Graham, to unconventionally set her up with someone he works with. Graham has been accused of fathering Jenna's child which is setting the gosssip wheel going. Graham's Uncle John makes his peace with going back to his Amish roots and could he maybe begin a new family with Mary and her son?

Another great book in the Families of Honor series. Mattie, a cancer survivor struggles to find love and fights her feelings for her life long friend Graham Weaver. While I hoped for a happy ending, I was not sure it would turn out the way I wanted it to turn out. Won't give the plot away but it is definitely worth reading.
This was a very easy and inspiring read. This showed that you can survive any thing if your faith is strong enough. It also showed how people can live a good life on just the simplest things that life offers a person. If you are interested in how the Amish live this will give you a good insight.
This was definitely my favorite book of the series.
I received this book through the First Reads giveaway program on Goodreads as a bonus. Review to follow!

This is a gift for my grandmother, so when she finishes this book I'll post her review.

Grandma loved this wonderfullly written story of faith, family and forgivness.
Just started the book but so far it grabs my interest. I find these just enjoyable fast no heavy thinking reads. Also does make you look at your life and how it compares.
I enjoyed this book. I really like the series. However, I felt like I was left hanging at the end. I want more and I hope she writes more to the series.

i dont think the editors did a good job on this last book.....too much repetition ...too drawn out..and getting nowhere .oversimplified writing.
nice easy , charming bedtime, insomnia, bathtub read. good enough to have me reading the others in a series.

This book was good. Not great but good. It was hard to get into the book the first time.
Loved the ending and the message that God had Shelley write in the book.
While it was a nice story, I thought the ending was a bit rushed.
great book. I think it was the best of this series.
Love this book can't wait to get the fourth book

Librarian Note: AKA Shelley Gray (Western Romance).

I live in southern Ohio with my husband, two teenagers, and two dogs. My days are filled with busy activities like most any other mom and housewife. But I also love to write books.

Each morning, after my kids go off to school, I sit at my desk, look out my window, and dream of other places. The hours fly by as I make up people and places and drink
