Chantilly’s Cowboy by Debra Kayn
* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Chantilly’s Cowboy really hit home with me and really touched my heart. My grandfather was someone that was always larger than life and we watched him battle Lymphoma for about six months.

Chantilly has always known that she wants to be there on the ranch working beside her father. She is truly pissed off when he hires a foreman to run the ranch for him. She thinks that Jack is trying...more

A short novel that begins the saga of a family of five daughters, all of whom are named after a type of lace. Chantilly is the youngest and the only one who has any kind of deep attachment to their father's ranch. Her expectation of being given the sole authority to run the ranch by her father appears to be a pipe dream when she realizes that dad has hired another person to be his "foreman." Now Mr. Grady tries to keep Chantilly in the loop and even states that she is "the boss," but the truth i...more

I was expecting an ordinary, typical Texan style romance in ‘Chantilly’s Cowboy’ by Debra Kayn, but I was highly amused when the story surpassed my expectations. I was not only entertained by the languorous, budding romance between the main characters, but I learned quite a little bit about sewing in this story.

Chantilly (the main character) is named after a type of lace. Gosh, and I thought that’s ju...more

This was a great story. Chantilly is one of 5 sisters who are all named after a different kind of lace. Apparently their mother was an avid sewer. All are strong-willed women raised by their father. He wants them all to be settled and happy. You can see that there is potential for future stories with the remaining sisters. I loved both Chantilly and Jack. While the attraction in the beginning was definitely physical, you can see how their relationship grows as they get to know each other. While...more

If you are expecting a lot of smut this is not the book for you, but if you are looking for a good romance keep reading….

This story is about one hot cowboy and the cowgirl he claims. Chantilly’s dream is to run the family ranch, but her dad hires on Jack to help out… Misunderstandings and sparks fly from there. This is a quiet little romance that is sure to pull you in. There are fun moments when Tilly can’t hold her liquor; tender moments between Tilly and her family; the secret her father is k...more

My Review:
This was a wonderful contemporary western romance. It's about a family that I can already see is going to be fun to get to know over the course of this series. Chantilly is one of five McDougal sisters. She is the one who has chosen to stay home and work side by side with her father running the family ranch. That is why she feels so betrayed when he hires a new foreman, Jack Grady...seemingly to replace her. Chantilly is wrong. Jack isn't there to replace her. He is helping out her fat...more

This is a story of a family of 5 daughters whose mother (now deceased) loved lace, and whose father has a health secret that threatens his life. He plans out having his daughters taken care of when he leaves their lives. This story is Chantilly's.

I'm a Debra Kayn fan all the way. Her characters are quirky, yet down to earth, and have as much fire and passion as the author herself.

This is a nice little story of a woman falling in love and finding out her father is very ill. I felt it ended a little abruptly I would have liked to see them wed. But as the start of a series it was a nice introduction to them all. Would I recommend this novella..... yes I think I would for those who like a light if tender read.

Couldn't finish this one - I got about 20% into it before I realized I just didn't care why Chantilly cried all the time.
