This book taught me 3 things:

1. That Strip football is the best sport EVER.

I need to read something super sweet and wonderful and this fits the bill! <3 New review after my re-read!

I just want to say that this book was so good. It was utterly amazing. I didn't want to change a thing (and I usually have plenty of opinions). I was just so happy to sit back and let Jillian Dodd take me for a wonderful trip. I want to put posters up: you have to experience this little gem.

This hilarious story begins through the perspective of Jadyn, a 4th grade tomboy, who is best friends with Phillip, the boy next door. This hilarious story begins through the perspective of Jadyn, a 4th grade tomboy, who is best friends with Phillip, the boy next door. Through the years that bond carries each of them through wonderfully great times and also some equally tragic ones as well.

It was incredibly fun moving through the years with these three, "I-seriously-got your-back" friends, starting with their elementary school into middle, high school, college, and beyond. Oh, and did I mention both boys are REALLY cute? Yeah, well, as they grow older, Jadyn sure notices and yep, both Phillip and Danny also begin realizing just how "hot" Jadyn has become, too! This'll be interesting when the hormones kick in and "boy-howdy", do they ever and ultimately, one will be Jadyn's first kiss, one will take her to her first prom and one will finally be her first real love.

Jillian Dodd can sure tell a story, and a funny, emotional and surprisingly gut wrenching one, at that! Honestly, I usually don't cry in books...I cried in this one. The power that grips you through Dodd's wonderfully entertaining storytelling makes you sincerely feel like you've lived right along with these three BFF's. So much that you're completely unprepared for the emotion that slices right through you when anything happens; good or bad. I wasn't expecting that with this book. I normally don't expect that with most books, frankly. But, WOW, it grabs a hold and doesn't let you go until the very end when you can actually take a deep breath and whisper to yourself, "Ahhh...finally!"

I've been eyeing this book for quite a long time but was a little reluctant to read it since, you see, it involved two boys. You know how I avoid love triangles because it definitely give me headaches and heartaches. And well, I'm scared I might fall for the wrong one and end up being disappointed. BUT all the reviews I see were quite contradicting what I was thinking, not one was actually complaining about a love triangle because, really now that I've read it, there wasn't actually any love triangle. And although ,as expected, I liked the other boy (Danny), I wasn't really disappointed. I didn't have a hard time appreciating the love story and I definitely enjoyed and swooned over how it ended. And that's what made this book really great. You can definitely enjoy both boys without getting disappointed. They both had their fair shares and it was awesome. With the way the story was told it was easy to accept and understand everything. It was definitely a well thought and written book about love, friendship and growing up.

When I started reading it I wasn't caught up instantly. At one point I even asked myself what the readers loved about this book. I find JJ a bit whiny and naive and I didn't really loved her right away. Those were my first impressions but as the story progressed, as I saw JJ, Philip and Danny grew up, how they learned stuff and experience new things, JJ eventually grew on me and I started to appreciate the story more. She's more like expressive than whiny and though sometimes she could be a little dumb, that's the thing that actually made her more adorable. Her relationship with Philip and Danny was really funny and cute! And to tell you the truth I was so freaking jealous of her! It was also very heartwarming to see how much those boys loved her and cared for her. I enjoyed every moments between them. It was just really wonderful.

One thing I also really loved about this book was that it was fast-paced but still was able to show all the essential parts of their lives starting from their childhood. Well, I tried to do the math and I think the story has a span of 10 years, the first scene was when they were 12 years old and in the ending they were already 22. Right? Uh, not so sure but you see, it was great because you really see how they went to different phases in their lives and how their experiences formed their characters. And that made it easier for me to know and understand them better. It was great when you reached the ending and when you go back to some parts you'll say that wow, they really did grow! It was like you were also reminiscing the past like you were the one who experienced it and that would just made you smile.

The ending definitely made me so happy! It was one of the sweetest and most heartwarming endings I'd ever read. It convinced me this is worthy of a 5-star rating. I applaud Jillian Dodd for making such an awesome story and wonderful characters. There were a lot of moments that made me really swoon, laugh so hard and warmed my heart. I highly recommend this! You're gonna love Danny and Philip! And JJ too, of course. It was a fun, sweet and very touching read! :))

4.5 stars! That Boy is one of those stories that picks up momentum quickly, allowing you to refreshingly dive right in. It was sweet, tender, completely HILARIOUS, and it hooked me instantly!

The story is written in the intimate and sort of choppy style of a diary. It begins with the end; a current moment of impact in the life of Jadyn (JJ) Reynolds. Or the beginning of The End? In this case, we spend the entire book wondering which boy - Phillip or Danny - is that boy... the one who wins JJ's heart, only to screw things up at the end. Written like journal entries, That Boy makes the reader feel like a cross between a friend getting all the dirty details and a voyeur spying on someone's accidentally-left-out diary. JJ's voice is fun and sweet, describing the close three-way-relationship that develops between herself and her two neighbors - Phillip across the street, and Danny next door.

Ten-year-old JJ happily plays princess to Phillip's prince, though their games are as apt to include dragon fighting and tower climbing in the roll-playing they've done forever. Their friendship is easy and perfect - until Danny moves in next door. Danny, who thinks boys shouldn't play with girls. Who calls JJ's lifelong best friend Phil, for pete's sake. Who tells her that girls can't play football, and who isn't at all sorry that she's furious. Instead, he calls her a crybaby.

So she punches him in the mouth.

Danny looks her up and down as the three of them stand there, waiting.

Finally he says, "You know what? You just might be tough enough to play football."

In high school, while one boy gives her "selfless" makeout tutoring for her date with a senior boy, the other calls her nightly before they go to sleep. While one is sexy and flirty, the other is patient and protective. The three of them maintain their friendship through relationships and life issues as they grow older, and JJ continually adjusts her feelings for each of the boys, but never wants to lose either. I almost didn't want her to choose, though I knew she'd eventually have to do so.

I wrap my arms around his neck and give him a really big kiss because I know in my heart that I've just made the very best decision of my entire life.(less)

I love that Danny & Phillip have two different personalities & no serious jealousy thing happened that leads to violence (LOL), just a light love story. What an adrobale book!

Told by Jayden (JJ, Jay, Princess,) in a diary type of story. She has known Phillip her whole life, he's her best friend and neighbor. Danny moves in across the street a few years later. They become a trio of best buddies. The story pretty much follows them 3 all through grade school and college.

This book is so incredibly adorable that I'm not quite sure how to put it into words.

There's a bit of everything: happiness, heartbreak, swooning, chemistry, cheering for this boy and then cheering for that boy, witty banter and the best friend a girl could wish for. This book made me smile, laugh out loud (a lot), cry sad tears and happy ones. I was reading this while taking a break at a café and the woman there asked: "What book is it? You keep on smiling and smiling."

I don't know where to start.
The story is SO funny, pleasant, lovely, sweet, cute ~~heartbroken~~, beautiful, thrilling... Well I can't think in more compliments right now, but it was sooo damn good!

It started with The End, as in the last chapter. Really! It's like the author gives you the biggest spoiler ever! hahahaha Actually, it was more like a Prologue, I think.

That Boy by Jillian Todd is one of the cutest and fun Young Adult Novels I have ever read! I laughed out loud reading at the characters who I adored. That Boy has it all, during reading I laughed, I cried, I was happy, and sad all in one. I am still in shock over one particular scene I did not see coming.

That Boy is written in past to present format, I sometimes find this format confusing but I love this style of writing for That Boy. I love that you learn so much about the three main characters and their personalities from early childhood all the way through college. You will learn how they met, their inside jokes, their crushes, their families. I felt like I knew all the characters and grew up with them as well. I’m telling ya people, it is a freakin’ adorable story!

That Boy is an adorable book about three childhood friends who live next to one another. There is Danny, the star athlete who becomes the player in high school and is “Mr. Popular” with his good looks and handsome looks. Then there is Phillip, he the typical boy next door with his charming looks, good grades, good son, and sweet guy (he is my favorite). Finally there is Jayden… Jayden there is a lot to say about Jayden. A true Tom-Boy at heart growing up with two boys, playing football with them, Jayden says what she feels and does what she wants. She doesn’t hold back and does the most hilarious things. I loved all three of them very much.

I was extremely happy with the adorable ending. Jayden ended up just who she needed and should be with. I loved that Jayden and “That Boy” were not always together and had to figure out on their own their feelings for one another. I always knew they would end up together, they just had to!

I am beyond excited to read That Wedding. I am really worried about Jayden and her commitment issues. I just hope she doesn’t ruin her life by doing something she will regret. I can’t wait to start reading; it’s already loaded to go on my Kindle.

My only negative would be the price. I paid $7.99 for the Kindle version, I believe it has since been lowered. So go for it and read it!

O.k., so I decided to ‘challenge’ myself a little bit when I picked this book up, because:
1. I like YA literature, but the book really has to be good (plot, characters)= no immature/spoiled/whiney/boring brats allowed, or it will lose my attention as fast as you can say “chapter 2”
2. Not a big fan of LOVE TRIANGLES, SQUARES etc.- all that drama:” who should I pick or why can’t I keep them both?” starts to annoy-the-hell-out-of-me after awhile

Awww! That Boy was such a sweet read. I think I'm still swooning right now.

The first sentence in the book had me intrigued, and from the first chapter, I knew I was going to like the book. And I fell in love with Jillian Dodd as an author when I read the next two chapters and can see myself as this fourth- and then fifth-grader. It was a nice/sweet story. It wasnt as cliche as I thought it would be. Dodd took a typical storyline and shook it up. So even though you know what's going on, you're still emotionally invested.

I've been here for you all along. I've listened to you cry about other guys, I rescue you, take care of you when you're sick, hug you when you're sad, tell you you're beautiful when you look terrible.

My sister recommended That Boy to me and I’ll admit I had reservations. I didn’t read the summary, but I was told that it was about two guys liking the same girl and both guys are great. So it doesn’t matter who she ends up with.
