Fatal Consequences is the third book in the Fatal series and my absolute favorite of them all, so far. Being a huge fan of Romantic Suspense I've read a lot of it, so it takes quite a bit to impress me. Well, let me tell you, Marie Force has definitely done that!

Loving it so far...I have such a long TBR list that I have this and my next three books up on my currently reading list...so excited for all four of these books!

Edge of my seat...great suspense in this one and I wish I didn't have to be at work today...would have loved to just finish it last night...but morning comes so quickly....ugggg

Everyone who has read my reviews of Fatal Affair and Fatal Justice knows that I am a big fan of the series but Fatal Consequences made me a groupie!

Sam and Nick are engaged to be married and attending her father’s wedding when a fellow Senator of Nicks calls and interrupts their day off. The married Senator from Arizona just discovered the cleaning lady from the Capitol Cleaning Service dead in her apartment. Soon afterwards, another employee is found dead. She had been assaulted in the same way as the first victim. What do these women have in common and why was a Senator in the apartment of the cleaning lady of his office? Things are not as easy and clear as they seem and when Sam’s investigation starts hitting closer to home, she not only gets threatened but she is starting to uncover a long-guarded government secret that could bring down some of the most powerful people in the country.

In addition to the main plot, there are some side stories about Tommy ‘Gonzo’ Gonzales, Sam’s partner Freddie and Nick’s mother. It’s great to hear about other characters who we got to know in the previous books. Their stories were interesting and fun and blended well with the main story without being overpowering or too much in the background. I loved seeing Nick and Sam together. They are one of my favorite couples and I enjoyed seeing that Sam is getting more comfortable with being in a relationship. Nick’s love for Sam is really evident; he supports her whenever she needs him but he never backs off or lets her get away with closing herself off like she did in the beginning of their relationship.

The mystery/investigation plot was great and at times spine-tingling and scary. From how the book started out, I never would have guessed how the story evolved. I had the feeling that behind every corner there was a surprise, either a good and happy one (i.e. Gonzo) or a devastating and cruel one (i.e. Jeannie McBride).

Fatal Consequences is a fast-pasted, thrilling but also funny and heart-warming book. I can’t wait to read about Nick and Sam’s wedding and I desperately want to know how things are going to play out for Freddie. The wedding novella will come out this year in September and book 4- Fatal Flaw- is scheduled for February 2012. I do recommend starting with the first book – Fatal Affair.

"Fatal Consequences" continues the series starring Nick and Sam, who have moved themselves into first place as my favorite couple in a romantic suspense series. I just love the chemistry between these two and find that a number of the secondary characters are endearing themselves to me as well. Couldn't wait to get to the next installment of the Fatal series and it did not disappoint. This was some case for Sam and the MPD to solve and boy did they do a bang up job. This was also such an emotional book, for Sam and Nick, for Tommy and Christina and for Freddie. (cant wait to see what happens there)

And I can't stand Stahl...I hope he gets fired very soon, Marie has the best way of describing him where it makes you want to punch him in the face everytime. I want to know what he is so hap...more

Sam and Nick are back again for book 3, with Nick preparing for reelection and Sam back on the job as they celebrate their engagement yet another mystery to solve. Several women are murdered, one of Sams own is horrible attacked and the clock is ticking for Sam to figure out just who is killing women in her city. As always it hits close to home with Sam and Nick and the political world is turned upside down again from yet another scandal. This one by far the best scandal so far.

Why oh why does Sam feel the right to continually stick her nose into Freddie and Tommy's lives. Yes, I get they are supposedly friends but I see no evidence that supports that claim seeing as they don't really spend time together outside of work. I'd let this slide if there was even one measly scene where they all go out for a bite or for drinks after work.

With just one book, Everyone Loves a Hero, Marie Force has become a favorite of mine. I have other books of hers in the TBR mountain just because I like the title or the back cover blurb. So it’s always an extra thrill when the story inside matches what you’ve built up in your mind from those extraneous descriptions, and Ms. Force does that in spades. And she surprises me too. This book, the first of her Fatal Series I’ve read, has surprised me. So it’s always an extra thrill when the story inside matches what you’ve built up in your mind from those extraneous descriptions, and Ms. Force does that in spades. And she surprises me too. This book, the first of her Fatal Series I’ve read, has surprised me. Now, I know you’ll say, “Well, Sandy, you should have known from the title that this book isn’t full of fluff and fun.” Yeah, I get that, but I still expected a tad bit of that. But what I actually got is so much more.

The first thing I really like about this story is that our hero and heroine are already together. I believe that happened in the previous book (I’ll have to read that book to satisfy my curiosity. ;) ) when Nick lost two close friends to murder, one of whom was a U.S. Senator and Nick has filled that interim spot and is now campaigning on his own. Sam is a lieutenant with the D.C. police, good at her job, and she solved the case involving Nick’s friends. There’s where I think the relationship began. And what a terrific relationship it is. Sam is still gun shy after surviving her abusive and murderous ex-husband, but she’s doing her best not to keep things from Nick. He’s an honest and straightforward kind of man and needs the same from her, no matter what. He can’t fight what he doesn’t know about. None of that do-what-you-think-is-best-without-telling-anyone garbage that leads to crazy misunderstandings in this book, and I love it. Work together and fight the conflict together. Makes me so very happy as a reader. Of course, because they’re lovers early on, we also enjoy a lot more of bedroom fun, including heart-to-hearts.

From what I gather, it’s not unusual in Sam’s work life for a case to be dropped in her lap at a moment’s notice, and this time it’s at her father’s wedding. And this one is a doozy. At least it is once the team begins investigating. An employee of a cleaning service that takes care of senate offices is killed, and the Senator who finds her is a friend of Nick’s, so he calls Sam to try to keep this tragedy away from the media. That’s only the first warning bell that goes off for Sam. Come to find out the lady and the senator are more than passing friendly. The investigation leads them to another employee who has suffered the same fate, and suddenly this case takes on much larger proportions than Sam and her team could ever imagine.

What cements that is when Sam receives a threat telling her to back off, but she’s a stubborn cuss. No way in hell will she do that. Then one of her team is attacked, beaten and raped, left alive only to deliver a message to Sam. And those scenes are written to perfection, from Sam’s reaction to the threat to her empathy toward her friend and colleague to that woman’s range of emotions, as well as that of her boyfriend. Sam is now more determined to find out who’s behind this well-kept secret that’s been hidden for years by the good old boy network of government officials. You don’t threaten Sam and get away with it.

Through all of this Nick does his best to stand by Sam. When she decides to share what’s going on with him, that is. What he wants more than anything - even being a senator - is to make her his wife, and he finally gets the agreement he wants from her, so he doesn’t hesitate. A date is set and all arrangements are now in the works. This is where that little bit of fluff comes in for this book, and this couple is fun when life isn’t throwing curves at them, all of which is needed amid all the heavy evil going on around these characters. But they deal with it all beautifully, even when houses are torched and ex-husbands get released on a technicality.

I also like the side stories we get in this book. Tommy is faced with news out of left field, but he’s thrilled and appalled at the same time once the situation is finally clear cut. He takes action, though it may cost him his relationship with Christina. Freddie is having the time of his life with Elin, but his mother and Sam caution him right and left about the woman. I’m a little confused as to why he took a vow of celibacy at a young age and has just now discovered sex. Another reason to get to the previous books ASAP! Curiosity has to be satisfied. Though he’s loving the sex, Freddie wants more, but is that what Elin wants too? And we also learn about Sam’s father and his retirement from the department, something Sam is still working on to solve to this day. But we’re just as happy as Sam to see him happy again.

Characters who draw you into their lives on the first page, a storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat, turning page after page and throws you a twist you never see coming but also warms your heart and then beats it out of your chest in those extra special moments, and just plain old great writing are all hallmarks of a Marie Force book. What are you waiting for? Pick one up today, especially this one and its predecessors. A great read is waiting just for you.

Here's what I hate about Marie Force books. They end and I want to keep reading them!

This was another wonderful installment of the Fatal Series by this wonderful author! I am feeling a huge girl crush on Ms. Force right now! :)

Nick and Sam are so wonderful. Everytime he says, "Samantha" I get all fluttery to use Sam's word.

I do have one small complaint. It's not anything major. At the end of the book something happens. I had tears in my eyes reading this. I would like to have been in Nick's head...more

Nick was very supportive of Sam on this and when Detective Jeanine McBride was attack, things get heated up in the entire DC police force.

Meanwhile, we got some glimpse into Freddie and Elin's problem. They use to be f*ck buddy, but now Freddie wanted more from her. I hope things pan out for Freddie, the mama's boy. Did I mentioned that his mum kinda hates her for corrupting her boy's mind? LoL. On the other hand, Gonzo and Christina relationship was very heartwarming too, especially when he discovered he fathered a child during one of his previous fling and Christina was supporting him all along.

In between investigating a homicide case, Sam needs to plan for her second wedding. If matters were left in her hand, she would prefer elopement. But she will do it for Nick, since this is his first wedding and all. Meanwhile, Nick's mum suddenly pop up in his life demanding to see him when he is gaining popularity in the congress. Okay, one thing I don't really like is how Sam handle Nick's mum situation here. Maybe this is just a prove that no one is perfect, even our beloved heroin Sam. I hope she can do better than that and I really wish this mother angle to be explore more because I so wanted Nick to be happy. (view spoiler)

While in the mist of all that is happening, Sam's psychotic ex-husband Peter might be release from jail after some evidence gathering screw up. I like seeing Nick get all pissed off and angry about this situation. (view spoiler)

I love this series. I really, TRULY, do. This one is a good continuation that tells what happens "next" in Sam, Nick, and their friends and families' life. I feel like I'm visiting friends so it's wonderful to know that Sam and Nick finally decided on their wedding date, Freddie dealing with his girl-friend Elin and his mother's disapproval, as well as Gonzo finding news that shocks his life to the core -- though thankfully, his girlfriend, Christina, is right beside him. The investigation is an intense one, TOTALLY reminds me of all those high profile husbands who cheated on their wives. Guess art imitates life, huh? *snicker*.

There is also an issue that deals with Peter, Sam ex-husband, that he is being released due to wrongful arraignment, which brings a different type of distress. I don't know what this plot will do next to Sam and Nick, I truly hope that somehow the police can get him again.

There is one sub-plot that gets me all teary eyed. It has something to do with Sam's ability to have a baby ... (view spoiler)

I think the good thing about a series is to see how all these characters develop. I enjoy what is the series offered so far. I love these characters. I come to care for them.

It will be a couple of months to the wedding ... with Sam wearing Vera Wang. With the way Sam and Nick's life is going, I totally hope that they get it to the ceremony not injured :) (less)

Another fantastic book in the Fatal series by Marie Force!!

I love this series! Every book just seems to get better and better. We get to connect more with Sam and Nick as a couple, as well as learn more about each member of Sam's team. Even Gonzo, Freddie, and Jeannie play important roles in this book.

A much better installment to the series than #2, and I devoured this yarn. I still say it feels like a soap opera, but boy, I am hooked. Another fantastic book in this series. This series keeps getting better and better.

Of course, I love Sam and Nick. They are the best of the series for me, but I love Freddie and Gonzo so much. Their stories were awesome in this book, especially Gonzo. I can't wait to see what the future holds for him. I felt a little bad for Freddie, but I think he will be okay and he will be happy soon. He is such a great guy.

‘Fatal Consequences’ by Marie Force is a very thrilling read. However, I find that the plot is rather complex and too confusing for me to follow in the beginning.

Nevertheless, I managed to get a grip on it after a few chapters and I must say that I’m impressed with the way things developed from one page to another.

Over all, this is quite a good read. I would recommend this book to those who love thrill...more

This is the first Marie Force book that I have read and I really enjoyed it. The characters pulled me in right from the start which is always a good sign for me with a new author. I enjoyed the interaction between Sam and Nick. In some ways, they reminded me of Eve and Roarke from J. D. Robb's In Death Series which I love.

I didn't want to put this book down. The story and characters kept pulling me back to read whenever I needed to put it down. When I find a book or series that does that, I need...more

Maybe this was more 3.5, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other two. I think maybe it's because Sam and Nick have settled into their relationship, so this was more about the suspense than the relationship. And I like Nick. I want to hear about Nick. :-) Well, OK and Sam, too. Lol. It amazes me, even in real life, how much people -- especially those in such public roles -- will risk for a little bit of nookie. Oh, I'm tempted to say this was my favorite of the series, but I just can't. All three are equally amazing. I love that we are getting to know each of the minor characters so well that they aren't very minor anymore. Gonzo and Cruz are very endearing and I hope to read more about them in the next two books. And McBride...OMG!! Why, why, why??? I won't say anymore but that storyline was...wow. Will we see Scotty again?? I hope so.

Another great installment in this series. The second book was definitely my favorite, but this one was good. The crime in this one is more complex and disturbing, and the relationship issues felt a bit repetitive, but I think the biggest flaw for me was the short time frame over which the series is occurring. There is a lot of drama and major scandal/crime that overlaps both their lives for just a couple of months. It just seems rushed, but it doesn't make the story less interesting or enjoyable...more

I have struggled with this book and entire series as I seem to keep comparing characters,plot lines even conversation points to the JD Robb InDeath series. A good friend recommended I put away the comparisons and critiques and just enjoy the stories as they are written.
I guess I needed that push. I do love the way that while the series focus is Sam and Nick, Force gives a lot of page time to the other key couples in the series. The case was interesting and well paced and I enjoyed the way good...more

I'm addicted to this series. Ms Force's writing style is simple but effective. She's straightforward and I love how she combines everything seamlessly. The transition from the events of the main characters to the secondary characters is always smooth. I also appreciate how she gives a back story to the tight group of detectives and cops like Freddie Cruz. I really like him. It's no surprise that Sam and Nick's friends are dating.

I'm really enjoying this series. I like following the progression of Sam and Nick's relationship as well as the secondary plot thread of who is responsible for Sam's dad's shooting. However, while I like all the secondary characters in the series the one thing that I found a little distracting in this book was how much more of the storyline was spent on the other characters' lives than in previous books. This book..this series was and is AMAZING! What I like the most about it is that the Author kept the main characters throughout. The reader is able to see how their relationship, and the intense changes in their lives affect them and the people around them. (Keeping the same main characters is one of the things that attracts me to The Guild Hunter, Night Huntress, Kate Daniels, and Chicagoland Vampire Series).

I have loved all these books so far, but this one was my favorite! Marie force does a fantastic job at creating books that are full of romance, suspense,drama, heart ache... Basically all the things that will capture the audiences attention. I love what a ball buster Sam is and the fact that she didn't let anyone or anything bring her down. There were so many moments that I found myself almost crying while reading this book, but there were more moments where I found myself screaming with excite...more
