A spine tingling tale of a demolition crew sent to the mysterious Berkley Hall. Although the place could be restored the owner insists on it being demolished and here is the first clue that something is wrong. Actually, from the moment of their arrival the crew are subjected to a whole string of happenings. This is the kind of story that has you shouting at your book/screen, DROP EVERYTHING! GET OUT OF THERE! (Especially when broken fingernails are found gouged into the back of the door) But of ...more

Nicely written haunted house tale with quite classic styling. Superb descriptions, and ratchets up the tension at just the right points to keep the pages turning. Fans of Poe should find much to appreciate here. Well done!

This short story has all the ingredients of a ghost story; the haunted location, eerie noises, a group of interesting characters. It does, however, keep you guessing and wondering who or what the evil is within, and so you can't put it down until you reach the end. An enjoyable quick read for those who like to be scared but not too scared!! Would recommend

This short ghost story is about the demolition of an old manor house, the author utilises suspence, atmosphere and nicely drawn characters to draw the reader in. The story builds nicely, keeping you guessing - to a chilly conclusion. Very enjoyable read, and in my opinion would make a fantastic radio dramatisation!

Perfect for a short story about a haunted house - scary and mysterious. I don't know why I keep reading short stories though as I always want more!

Andy was born and grew up in Bedfordshire in the UK. He was a dreamy child who had as many imaginary adventures as he did real ones in the river and fields near his family home. Many summer days were spent building rafts (that usually sunk) and floating down the river with his friends. When it rained, he would spend hours daydreaming about hidden doorways to underground worlds where strange creatu ...more
