I started writing this review on paper, with a pen about a week ago when I was having a lot of trouble with my laptop. What I wrote in the hour I was on break was mostly about my experiences reading this book on the Nook touch, the third generation device put out by the company that gives me my paycheck each week. I was borrowing one of these for a couple of days, and I borrowed it expressly so I could read Scattershot, which the kind people at Seedpod emailed to me so I could review it.

A broken-down car, a wrong turn on a freeway, and a mother’s ashes take Wicker, a twenty-three-year old slacker, and Edna, fifty years his senior and tottering on the brink of senility, on a quixotic journey to Las Vegas and way beyond.

Goodwin has a good ear for dialogue, both the bawdy patois of a young, alcoholic ne’er-do-well and the prim voice of an old lady schoolteacher. Both Las Vegas and Tokyo come alive as Richard Goodwin leads his characters through the haunts, dangers, and pleasures o...more

A sweet and quirky story of an unlikely May December romance that brings two people together in an adventure of self discovery.
This is an easy and quick read, a story that picks you up and takes you on a fast paced joy ride. The characters are human, fallible yet endearing. I wont give anything away as it is a must read with some unexpected twists. Well worth that purchase price and I love the electronic delivery method! every night I read about Wicker and Edna using my kindle reader on my Andro...more

Every now and then I like to read a good dark comedy and this one was great! Wicker is tired of his job, tired of his life and decides to go on a trip that turns into quite the adventure. Remember the tag line... "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?" well what happens in this book... definitely fits that slogan. A definite read for those fans of good dark comedy!
