Phenomenal book as all of Max Arthur's books are. "We Will Remember Them" is a compilation of accounts from the survivors of the First World War which details the joy and perhaps surprisingly the sadness of many on the Armistice. The book then goes on to deal with the hardships those who had lived through it found in their attempts to adjust back into normal lives; the ending of marriages, the loss of limbs, the advent of prosthetics and the curse of shell-shock. Max Arthur is an author who specialises in first-hand recollections of historical events. He has worked closely with the Imperial War Museum to bring together two books in the Forgotten Voices series, Forgotten Voices of the Great War and Forgotten Voices of the Second World War. Prior to becoming a writer, he served with the Royal Air Force and for some years was an actor.
