I had high expectations for this book - highlanders plus werewolves equals win! This is the first book I've read by Terry Spears. Even though Heart of a Highland Wolf is the 7th book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone.

Julia is travelling with her friend Maria under the guise of being part of the movie crew. In reality, Julia is a romance writer who writes about Highland wolves. She's been tasked by her grandfather with finding a box that is stashed away in the McNeill castle. Laird I

My thoughts:

This story is wonderful blend of contemporary suspense; romance, with just the right mix of paranormal. Terry has a wonderful sense of humor and you can’t help but laugh out loud at some of the situations. The cast of characters is well-drawn and distinct with strong family ties with Ms. Spear’s trademark pack dynamics.

What I love about Terry Spear’s series, especially in this particular story, is this isn’t fantasy. It’s set in the real world and crafted in such a way you feel ther

A nice addition to the series. This series is on the lighter side without being intentionally humorous. But there is no end of the world, no evil magic etc. I enjoy the wolf culture in these books. It doesn't dominate the stories, but it's definitely there. Mostly this story is about two people meeting and falling in love. There are plenty of interesting secondary characters. The plot was nice except the ending mystery was a bit weak but I wasn't reading it for the mystery. There was

This amazing story is about Ian and Julia. They are both Lupus Garou but don't know it yet. Ian is the absolutely sexy Laird of a castle and Julia is a romance author. She writes romance guess it...werewolves! So she is a bit scandalous. Ian wants nothing to do with the Yanks. He just wants to take care of his pack without outsider interference. Due to a bad business investment they are in dire need of money.

(4.5stars) What could be better than an alpha wolf hero? An alpha wolf hero in a kilt - and, even though this is a contemporary, we get multiple hunky 'weres' in kilts. Yum.

I am a shifter fan so I've read all of Spear's werewolf romances, but Heart of the Highland Wolf is my absolute favorite. I like the way that Spear cleverly sets the romance amid a historical movie being filmed at a Scottish castle, so that there are some historical elements mixed in with the contemporary.

I’ve been a fan of Terry Spear’s werewolves for a long time now. And now she’s added Highland heroes to her repertoire? Highlanders and werewolves. Be still my heart. Needless to say, I’m thrilled!

And this time we also get a hero who’s having financial difficulties, is on the brink of losing the castle that’s been in the family for centuries. Thus, Ian, laird of the MacNeill clan, is doing something he’d never think about otherwise - allowing humans to roam around his den while filming a movie.

The premise of the book left me somewhat confused because what the blurb in back says doesn’t match up to what the book is really about. Julia Wildthorn is a Lupus Garous-a werewolf and a romance writer. She comes over to Scotland from America with her friend’s movie production company hiding herself as part of the production crew. Her cover story to her friend is that she wants to write her next romance book about Scottish werewolve
A book about highland werewolves with the heroine being a werewolf romance writer! I love that stuff in books.
This romance novel set in modern day Scotland and featuring the relationship between an American romance novel author of Scottish descent and a Scottish laird, both of whom happen to also be werewolves, disappoints in pretty much every way. I am generally not a fan of authors writing about writers. Yet the self-referential premise could have been forgiven if the writing hadn't been clunky and totally transparent (instead of being whisked away to another reality, I spent pretty much the entire ti ...more

Actual rating would be 2.5. There are a few things I liked about this book...I enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, the setting was nice and I also liked that neither of them were super well off like the usual romance cliché. As far as the rest of times it was a bit awkward, maybe felt a little unnatural and at times a little rushed. There was more bad than good which was why it had such a low rating for me. I was very disappointed overall...I mean Scottish hunks AND they are werewolv ...more

I loved this book. I purchased this as part of a series and was captivated from the beginning. Julia is a writer doing research for her next book. Ian is a Scottish laird who is intent on keeping his clan from prying eyes. Only problem, due to a bad investment where the clans money has been stolen, he is forced to open his castle to a film company in order to make money. Normally that would not cause a problem, except for the fact that his clan are wolves. Add to the tension, so is Julia and she ...more
I didn't think a werewolf love story about a werewolf romance author would be good. It was good and well written. Kudos.

A very readable romance... a fun porch-swing afternoon escape. (RT Book Reviews 20110502)

Spear has penned a paranormal romance with all the elements needed for a decent escapist read... (Fresh Fiction 20110520)

A high-powered romance that satisfies on every level. (The Long and Short of It 20110603)

Spear packs a lot into Heart of the Highland Wolf, combining action, intrigue, compelling characters, and magic into an all around good read. (That's What I'm Talking About 20110603)

This one maybe my favorite. Julia went in with a mess of trouble and it was funny to see just how Ian would react. The box she was looking for kept me wanting to know what was inside. The story was great, the movie and her writing played in perfect with the story. I really wanted a tougher villain though, he didn't seem to have a chance from the beginning and all his failed attempts just proved it as well. I think Ian should've had more of a challenge a good guy on the surface but a menace behin ...more
Wolfishly Amazing!!

I loved the Highland aspect of this book in Terry Spears Series. Ian MacNieal, Laird of his clan who is struggling financially in order to keep his castle in Scotland. American Romance author, Julia Wildthorn, who happens to write about wolf romances, but she has writers block. These two come together when Ian must allow a movie production company to come on to certain areas of his castle to make a movie. The passionate love scenes were amazing. Love Terry Spears. I am hooked.

Heart of the Highland Wolf is a fun, light, summer read. Julia Wildthorn is a romance writing werewolf, who just happens to write about werewolves and is suffering from a severe case of writer’s block. She has come to Scotland with her friend Maria for a historical movie shoot at Argent Castle. Ian MacNeill is Laird of Argent Castle and also a werewolf. Julia is in Scotland with her best friend Maria to do research for her upcoming novel. While Maria and her crew are filming a movie at Laird Ian MacNeill's castle, Julia is doing her own investigating.

Julia finds herself attracted to and intrigued by the laird the minute she lays eyes on his picture. The feeling is mutual for Ian when he first sees Julia.

Although the book opens with a great scene, the overall story was a slow start. I didn't really start to get into the book until around chapter

Julia Wildthorn is the author of famous werewolf romance books in the U.S. She knows a great deal about the subject due to the fact that she herself is a werewolf. I think this is my new favourite in the series cause it's set closer to me and involves Gaelic speaking, sexy highlanders! I loved Ian and his brothers, especially in their kilts and sword fighting!
I loved meeting the infamous Julia as well, she's been mentioned in quite a few of the previous books because of her occupation and it was nice to actually learn more about her.
The chemistry between her and Ian was explosive, they really seemed made for each other, just what they each needed. Especial
This is the 2nd book I have read by Terry Spears after reading and falling love with A Howl For A Highlander. Heart of the Highland Wolf didn't disappoint! This book actually preceded A Howl so it filled in some history of the clan, it's characters and ancestral home.

The hero in this book is Ian, the 1st of 4 brothers and leader of their Highland clan of werewolves. The heroine is Julia Wildthorn, an American romance author.

Ian has reluctantly committed to open his clan's ancestral home, Argent
This book is one of the better ones of the series, due in a large part to the craziness that was when Hollywood movies meet a werewolf Highland Laird. It doesn't sound like it would work, but surprisingly it did very well.

I actually wasn't looking forward to reading this book in the series, but im so glad i did.

Julia didn't really impress me from the other books but i have to say once i got to know her i really did like her. I loved how she had hidden motives for wanting to film her movie at the castle, i also really liked that she was willing to trust her family even without all the facts as to the why.

I also liked Ian from the start, i liked how he kept his pack together and i enjoyed that he was so against any

"Heart of the Highland Wolf" by Terry Spear. Book 7 in the Heart of the Wolf series.

LOVED this one! Set in the highlands of Scotland. Loved the main characters, Julia and Ian.

Julia is undercover. She's posing as her friend's assistant on this trip to Scotland with the production crew for a new movie. But really, Julia is going to do research for her new book, a werewolf romance book. And she's picked the Laird of the castle, Ian MacNeill, as the inspiration for the main character. Being of Scoti

I've just finished reading this on my kindle - do love that I can download in an instant!

Anyway I have read all her shifter books and love them. I was looking forward to this book as we have heard Julia Wildhaven name mentioned in previous books so I was curious to see this sassy women who wrote about werewolf secrets in person.

Maybe it's just me but I felt she was a bit of weak heroine - I wanted more from her. Maybe an argument before hooking up with the Laird, more determination, more heroic

What if a Highland warrior of old could fight with swords just like they used to but in modern times and women could ogle all they wanted?

Of course, I’m getting ahead of myself. Those kilted action heroes do their thing in this story and it was exciting and full of daring do, and I got a kick out of how Ms. Spear wrote it with such passion and intensity. It’s what lead up to those well written and high powered few chapters that made it all worthwhile.

Julia is the heroine and she’s delightful.
