Lulu (The Bookworm is Here!)
Expect the unexpected. Don`t assume. Once you think you know what might happen or how things might turn out, most likely you`ll be wrong. Or at least I was, for well the whole book. It kept me on my toes, it was awesome!

Alia was the main character, and I liked her right from the start. She didn`t whine or complain, she took the logical route and conquered her problems. I loved how she loved her sisters. It touched my heart so much because she cared for them both immensily. Ella and Joanna were...more

Tikmia, the first book in a planned trilogy, does exactly what you would expect. It sets the stage for the remaining two books. Luckily that was the only thing that was expected. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Tikmia and I am very much looking forward to the next book.

Alia's life is almost nothing. If she didn't have her sisters, Joanna and Ella, she would have no reason to live. Ever since the deaths of her parents and brother life has been bleak. Each day on the island is jus...more

The first thing I noticed about this book was the pretty cover. I love the use of the bright colours and now that I’ve read the book I understand that those colours actually mean something to the story. I think it looks a bit like an eye with the girl (Alia) as the pupil. Do you see that?

The story follows Alia as she tries to discover the truth about the island where she, her sisters and a few hundred other orphans live. Only they’re not the only ones who live there. The island is also inhabited...more

Tikmia is the first book in a trilogy by our fellow blogger and author F.H. Faizal. Tikmia is definitely different. And I mean different in a fascinating way. Expect the unexpected definitely applies here. It usually takes me several days to finish a book but I read this one in less than two days. Tikmia kept me on the edge of my seat and I had to literally force myself to stop reading because I had to go to sleep. The plot is jam-packed with action, twists and turns. It repeatedly had me guessi...more
Reading Vacation's Mom
Prepare yourself for a frightening setting. What seems to be a peaceful island is really something entirely different. The Tikmia live here in the shadow of humans. They are like us, but they are super strong, savage, and often times evil. Oh, and did I mention the Tikmia are shapeshifters too? These beasts are the creation of a ruthless and powerful tyrant with unknown goals. I love this setup and it is clearly well thought out.

Alia is a teen on a mission. So many family and friends who are clo...more

This novel has a lot of potential. I liked getting to know the characters and the strange world they live it, and it must be noted that Faizal knows how to weave in some crazy twists! However... I felt like I spent a good deal of the novel slightly confused. It might have just been me missing something, but while the creatures and ideas that were put into this novel were original and slightly whimsical, I felt like there was that one crucial piece of information that wasn't released, that one pi...more

The story is very good and kept me hooked from the beginning. A few minor areas of inconsistency but never does it lack thrilling moments and surprises.
