Most sixteen-year-olds have friends. Aden Stone has four human souls inside him: One can time-travel. One can raise the dead. One can tell the future. And one can possess another human. With no family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But now they're causing him all kinds of trouble.

Like, he'll blink and suddenly he's a

It’s unfortunate that the premise is so appealing, because, for me, INTERTWINED was an overwritten, confusing, and crowded paranormal mess. Too much was implied and told directly to readers, the characters were unappealing, and the whole thing was just way too long to hold my attention.

Showalter has the unfortunate penchant of telling, not showing, and making her characters take agonizingly slow paragraphs to undergo a simple thinking process. Any story that relies heavily on the main characters

Wellll I haven't done a book review in a while, because I've been too lazy. So I will briefly comment on this book, because I don't have much to say about it––there isn't much worth saying. Not sure what compelled me to pick it up … Anyway, my first issue was the plot of this. It was just … too much. You have kid with four random voices in his head, a werewolf, a vampire, and a bunch of useless and boring other characters. The characters, another problem. I didn't feel particularly fond of any o ...more

I haven't been able to fully read a book in weeks, I was in a big reading slump and I needed it to stop. So, I tried the only thing I thought would help me out of it, I read a book by Gena Freaking Showalter. And guess what? IT WORKED!

God, I love that feeling. I could not stop reading this book, I was hooked from page 1 and even Gena tried to stop me from reading INTERTWINED because she told me that this particular series has no end and I know I will be sad and mad when I actually finish it but

I enjoyed this book and have only one real complaint. When a book is the start of a new series, it would be nice to know that going in, maybe put a line on the cover, first book in the exciting new series, etc.
That being said and a little disappointed that I have to wait until the next book to find out what happens next, I found this book a fun read with lots, and I mean lots, of surprises.
This book has a little something for everyone. There are humans, well, sort of, since they have special ab

I loved the concept of a character with four human souls living inside his head immediately. And when the book opened on him in a graveyard, accidentally raising the dead and then being forced to decapitate them, I was even more excited.

I was very disappointed to find Aden didn’t fight any more zombies through the book, but I felt the use of his other abilities incredibly interesting.

Many people enjoy reading paranormal romance. I can handle it, but vampires and werewolves make me cringe straigh

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!!!

This is one of those moments when you want to do serious bodily harm to somebody, aka just maybe the author who decides not to finish a series??? Book 3 released 2011 - book 4 forecasted for 2017?

I mean really?!

Why aren't these things taken off the market? How reader insulting. Gena Showalter, go take a flying leap to a destination occupied by guerilla forces of zombie s#*t.

Ugh. What happens when you mix Fruity Pebbles, Lucky Charms, and Cookie Crisp? You guessed it, blah.
Each of them alone is awesome and delicious, but when you mix all of these elements together you get a bowl of cereal that's very difficult to keep down.

That's my problem with this book. It had just WAY too much going on. The whole book managed to mix Vampires/Werewolves/Vlad The Impaler/Faeries/Teenage Pregnancy/Mental Health/Abandonment/Peer Pressure/Poor parenting/Time Travel/Possession and Pr

I was about halfway through this and although I was enjoying it, I wasn't sure it was enough to continue with the rest of the series. That completely changed during the second half! I was suddenly drawn in and couldn't stop turning the pages. Vampires, werewolves, faeries, goblins and souls trapped in a human boys body? HELL YES, sign me up! The second half of the book was absolutely spellbinding and action packed and has left me itching to get my hands on the rest of this series!

I think I should receive an award for reading this book, sorry Torie, but it truly was a horrid experience, every time I picked it up, I would get a headache and fell nausea.

This book was never on my radar. Why did I pick it up you ask? A person who I actually agree with on quite a few books recommended it to me when I was on one of those no-reading-times. It was an unwise decision from my part, since this book took me off the reading market for a long period of time.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did - it sounded just a bit over the paranormal top with vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and zombies. That said, the first page was the hardest to get through. The first time I picked it up, I read most of the first page and put it down. It didn't grab me from word one.
That said, later that night I picked it up again, re-read the first page, turned the page, and COULD NOT STOP. I found myself sitting in an empty bath tub still reading later that nig

"Intertwined" is about Aden Stone, a sixteen year old guy who goes to Crossroads High. At first he seems normal, with his smoldering looks and all, but in reality he has four voices inside of his head that each posess a supernatural power. He doesn't know where they came from or who they are; they have been with him since birth - they were always just there. Julian can raise the dead. Eve can transport Aden back to the past. Elijah can tell the future. And Caleb can posess other humans. This see ...more

Gena Showalter has come up with a cracker of an idea - a reform school boy, Aden, with special powers who also happens to house four other souls in his head/body (which he must keep secret or risk mental institution). Throw in a cute girl-next-door type, a vampire princess, a werewolf and a few maggot ridden zombies and she has a sure-fire formula winner. Right? Well you would think, wouldn't you? I sure got my hopes up.

It took until Chapter 8 (P 133) for things to start to come together. Befor

I had very high hopes for this first YA book by Gena. I have enjoyed almost every single book Gena has written from her contemporaries, paranormals and sci-fi romances. The main storyteller is Aden Stone, an orphan in foster care who has four souls living in side of him. They each have their own paranormal abilities. Aden doesn’t know why he has these voices, but he is able to live with them. I on the other hand would be sitting in a corner, rocking screaming for them to leave me alone. Aden wou ...more

One word. Amazing. Of course, I wasn't surprised, this was a book by Gena Showalter. Picking up this book I was a bit nervous because I haven't heard much about it and I don't really like books told from the perspective of a boy(there are so many exceptions to this), but I was so glad I picked up this book and started reading. I say it again. Amazing. If you loved Vampire Academy, Shadow Falls, Hex Hall and books like that, you would love this book. Intertwined takes a spin on all books full o ...more

Omg this book is life. You don't understand how much i love this book. My copy is worn and it is beat up and it is still beautiful; i just think that the rips and tears add character. Also i got this book when i was like 10-11ish, i really did not know how to keep my books in the best of shape.
I also did not know about buying new books. I just kept re-reading the same books i had over and over again. It was great.

ANYWAYS.

I am so confused with this book! I actually feel a trend with the books I have selected to read as of late because most have left me with the WTH? feeling.
The story centers around Aden Stone, a boy who has 4 souls trapped inside his body. They have been with him since his birth and because he actually talks to them out loud he is thought to be schizophrenic and placed in several mental institutions. So, his story is wrapped around trying to figure out how to free the souls before he dies, which

Aden has four souls living inside his body, not to mention his own. Sound confusing? Well, it is. But also strangely engaging.

There is so much going on in this book. Within the first couple chapters there was foreshadowing, red herrings, background stories, and multiple subplots. If your looking for something quick or easy, this isn't the one. It is definitely not a skimmer.

Towards the end, it became a bit of a supernatural orgy fest with ghosts, goblins, zombies, witches, psychics, empaths, wer

Can I have the sequel now??

Intertwined was definitely a one-sit read! From the very beginning — when one of the four souls living inside Aden accidentally raises a cemetery — you know you're in for a totally awesome ride. The whole concept of it was original and complicated and tons of fun!

Plus, the originality extended to the plot which I really loved. This whole book was a breath of fresh air (with a twisting plot, an intriguing world, and lovable characters), especially that there were two s

This book has it all! You get a little bit of everything: zombies, vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, demons, goblins and even humans. There is a lot going on (not to the point where I felt overwhelmed) which kept me turning page after page after page. There was never a dull moment. It's unpredictability kept me on edge.

I found myself wanting more of Mary Ann and Riley's story. Riley is all mysterious in the begin and that's hot! Riley being a werewolf definitely added to his hotness.

I was thrilled when I won this ARC of INTERTWINED on SCIFIGUY’s Blog about a month ago and even more thrilled to be able to review it here for all over you. I am a serious GS fan but have only dabbled in her YA books, INTERTWINED being the first in a new series by Gena which also is the second title for the new Harlequin Teen . This book is not well-written, I'm sorry. It's not even that I think the author is a bad writer; it feels like she's forcing herself to dumb everything down, to satisfy some ditzy, paranormal-romance-obsessed teenage girls. And I feel like she can do a lot better, but she's tried to thrown everything currently "in" about YA Lit into one mess of faeries, werewolves, vampires, zombies, possessed souls, and time-travel. There is so much going on here, and yet so little substance. I gave it until ch ...more

Huzzah! I finally finished this "book"! And that's the only positive thing you'll here me say about it. So there's this kid, and he has four souls trapped inside him, each of which have a power. Pretty cool sounding huh? Yeah, that's what I thought...and then the author started writing. OK, OK, bad writing, well, it's annoying, but it's not a deal breaker. Then we're introduced to a werewolf (crap)! And then a vampire (double crap)! Still lets keeps reading, not because we're still interested in ...more

So overall, I will give it two stars because it wasn't hard to finish and I was mildly entertained. I think ultimately there is just so much going on in this book. This is the first YA book that I have read since Hunger Games Trilogy. I have always been afraid that I will miss the smexy when it came to YA books. I found myself really liking this book and thought that the story was different and it held my attention.

Aden and the souls that he also shared himself with was a great idea. You really felt bad for him in the sense that he never had a moment to himself and it must be tough to have to share so much of yourself with 4 others. I thought for a PNR/UF
