Nothing's sexier than an man who can keep a secret.

A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different -- except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood). And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova. But when the party gets out of hand and the cops

I liked the story and I like Jack. Lara I didn't like. She made the story a 3 for me and she made me want to slap and shake her!

I would categorize Kerrelyn Sparks' latest paranormal in her vampire series, "Secret Life of a Vampire" as one of the sweeter, yet still hot, in this whole series. Her hero is more Gamma than Alpha, her heroine is an ex-beauty queen turned cop, and there's not much blood spilled unless it comes from a glass.

The vampires in this series are divided into two camps; Malcontents who want to rule the world and feed from humans at will, and the good vamps who feed off bottled blood and battle the Malco

This is the story of Jack (Casanova) and Lara. So this one was not about the action and the bad Vamps called The True Ones. In fact they weren't in here at all. Also the Stake Out team was M.I.A. in this one. Which is why it was small on the action side. Overall this book was just too funny. There were so many time that I was just cracking up. One of my faves was in the beginning for the bachelor party and the police arrive. Enough said, the ring stuck in the panties part OMG that was the best a ...more

Still yet another good story. I think I am liking where this went. Never expected this Apollo thing. This was a FAST read because I jumped the boring drawn out nothing parts...

I was not too keen on this girl Lara. She's an idiot. She's a whimp. Supposedly tough, but just not a bad girl tough cop like she should be. Just an annoying curly haired red head who nags Jack for answers and figures out she's in love with him when she's in trouble. It's almost like this story was walking up a steep hill

3.5 stars. I like these light, sexy stories, but they are definitely chicklit. I appreciate all these vampires wanting to make honest women of their female consorts, but they seem to move from love at first sight, to sex, to marriage in a matter of days or at most weeks. Also, all the humans and vampires are beyond beautiful, what about just normal women, Heather was a little plumper than svelte but she was very insecure.

Book #6
I didn’t buy it. Not the book, I bought the book. I had to so I could read it. I didn’t buy the romance. It just did not work for me. They met each other briefly a few times and they are already in love with each other?
When a bachelor party for vampires gets out of hand and the cops get called, Giacomo de Venicia or Jack as he’s known by his friends gets stuck with convincing the two police officers that show up that everything is fine. He will just erase their memories and be done with i

Giacomo di Venezia, or Jack to his friends, is a two hundred year old vampire who's throwing a bachelor party for Ian at the Plaza. What he hadn't considered was the fact that a bunch of vampires drunk on Blissky would make a mess of the hotel suite, leaving blood stains all over the place. Even the police was called after the noisy event. Not a problem for Jack who can control minds easily, so you can imagine his surprise when the cops arrive and Officer Boucher is the most beautiful woman he's ...more

Giacomo "Jack" di Venezia is the only son of the famous Casanova - much to his annoyance. He doesn't consider himself a lady's man and doesn't want to be one. Now an investigator for MacKay Security and Investigations (that would be vampire security and investigations), he's tried to follow his heart in the past and only been burned.

A chance meeting with a beautiful NYPD officer who's called to a vampiric bachelor party because of the noise and sword fighting has him in turmoil: he's drawn to o

Book #6 in the Love at Stake series. This book focuses of the vampire Giacomo Casanova (Jack, the illegitimate son of Casanova). I must say that I was not looking forward to Jack’s story simply because, at least to me, he was a very minor character that I didn’t see often in the previous books. However, I was completely wrong after I started reading! So far this is my favorite story in the series yet! Ms. Sparks does a wonderful job of writing Jack’s character and the relationship, chemistry, an ...more

I've been wanting to read Kerrelyn Sparks' books for a while now. So when I saw this book on the shelf at Target a couple of days ago I just had to pick it up. I know I start the series in the middle but I don't think I could have picked up a better book to start. First off the Heroine has an AWESOME name. Then the vamp is Italian...which is just delicious. Then Ms. Sparks makes it complete perfection by transporting the characters to Venice...my favorite city in the world! The story is fun, fas ...more

Jack is throwing a bachelor party where men are drinking Blissky and literally can party all night long. Jack is the illegitimate son of Casanova and when the party gets out of hand Officer Lara Boucher shows up. Lara knows there is something more than a bachelor party going and she wants to find out what Jack is hiding.
Jack and Lara were an interesting couple to read about. I liked reading about a character from Louisiana. Lara is fun and her friend LaToya is hilarous. Jack and Lara are a real

4.5 Stars,

This could have been a 5 star book. It had everything, a Great Hero, a good plot with a mistery to solve and very funny moments. If only the heroine Lara did not have too many dumb moments that could have gotten her killed. Jack or Giacomo de Venezia was great seductive, smart and caring and LOL funny. Lara, was a police officer just out of the academy wanting to become a detective. Lara had a roomate Latoya who I hope does not become a lead character latter on. Over all it was a story

This is a great series, plenty of humor, great story lines, and engaging characters. In each book you meet more characters in this world, which makes it more fun when the time comes to see their story play out.

And best of all, the story telling is always focused on the two main characters and their point of view rather, unlike another author in the genre who shall remain nameless.

While this book was not as enjoyable to me because I like it when they stay within the close knit group (Roman, Shanna, Angus, Ian etc.) at least we were introduced to Jack slightly in previous books, so this was not like book 2's out of nowhere character of Darcy. I like Jack, think he is probably one of the more interesting and honorable men in the series. However, it took me some time to like Lara. I get that she didn't want to be a beauty queen and wanted to be a bad ass cop, but quite hones ...more

I liked it. For sure I didn't love it. I could not stand Laura. Like at all. She was terrible. Jack was amazing and way, way too good for Laura. But like with the last books it was funny. I laughed a few times. It's really the only reason I keep reading the series because I really don't like the females. I don't think I have really liked any of them. Maybe Emma but the rest so far have not been that great.

I loved that Jack didn't give up. Even after Laura

Book 6 in the love at Stake series.
This book was good but it wasn't my favourite. I didn't really like the storyline about Apollo and their cult. It seemed to come out of knowhere. I found myself skimming through a lot of those parts.
I liked that this book started with Ian's bachelor party. But I was a bit dissapointed, I wish we actually got to see some of the party though.
Jack was a great hero I loved his flirtatious behaviour and he was so romantic and charming. But he and Lara together

Whew! There is a big difference between this series and the one I read right before it by JR Ward. This one feels like tea time at Disneyland compared to "Covet."

So anyway, once I got used to the different style, this one's ok. There are some cheesy aspects to it, but I thought Jack was a good guy. Lara kinda bugged me a little, being so stubborn and all.

I have to admit that I cringe a little every time they mention the stupid blood drinks - Bleer, Bliskey, etc. How do they keep a straight fac

This book starts with Ian's vampire bachelor party (or the fallout of it). Most of the vamps we know left with Roman to support him while Shanna is in labor with their baby girl. Leaving Laszlo (geeky scientist vampire) on the floor being ill, Phineas, and Jack to answer to the cops who come to the door. Jack is Giacomo the son of Casanova.. really Casanova. Lara Boucher is a young cop who used to be a beauty queen. She was almost killed in a car accident and her brain damage makes her immune to ...more

I read books 5-11 of this series over the course of two weeks, so they blend together in my head. All of the books are paranormal romance with some mystery elements. The good thing about this series is that the author varies her romance formula more than most. Another good thing: good guys almost never die. (It's not an urban fantasy, despite the contemporary urban settings.) Worst thing about this series is the silly too-cute book titles. The writing is much better than the titles suggest, and ...more

I give this book 4 stars.

Being a huge fan of the Love at Stake series, I came into this book with huge expectations. I'm not going to lie, they fell a little flat after the first couple of chapters. I actually quit the book twice, and came back. I'm glad I came back, because once I was able to get over the rocky parts, the book was great.

I loved Giacomo; he was everything I was expecting and more. However, Lara and LaToya, they need some help in the characterization department. I couldn't stand

This is one my favourites in the series, however, it's what I'd class as a "filler" book. Yes, stuff happens and there's a plot but there's hardly anything to do with the overreaching plot apart from the last few pages (view spoiler). But apart from that it does nothing else.

I love Jack so much (The guy on the cover is nowhere close to as handsome as I imagine him to be though) and I even like Lara. I think reading this a

First part of the book is hilarious! Then it gets more serious as it gets into the criminal element and the romance between Lara & Jack (Giacomo). Not to say there aren't a lot of grins throughout the rest of the story. There definitely is. And Jacks anxiety to protect his friends & their secrets while trying to protect Lara and show her how much he cares for her is epic. Lara is a strong young woman determined to make a difference in

“Merda! Her lace panties had snagged on his ring, the signet ring he'd inherited from his father, Giacomo Casanova. His father had seduced hundred of women without any problems whatsoever, and he was having trouble with just one. This was the real reason he never used the Casanova name. He could never live up to his father's reputation. The old man was probably laughing in his grave.

Nine circles of hell," Jack muttered.

Hell?" Lara asked. "I thought I was the Holy Land."

You're paradise. Unfortunately, I am stuck there."

Her eyes widened. "Stuck?"

Normally, I would love being stuck to your lovely bum, but it would look odd if we go sightseeing with my hand under your skirt. Especially in the basilica."

She glanced down. "How can you be stuck?"

My ring. It's caught in the lace. See?" He moved his hand down her hip, dragging her undies down a few inches.

Okay, stop." She bit her lip, frowning, then suddenly giggled. "I can't believe this has happened."

I assure you, as much as I had hoped to get your clothes off, this was not part of my original plan."

She snorted. "No problem. Just rip yourself loose."

Are you sure?" It will destroy you undies."

She narrowed her eyes with a seductuve look. "Rip it."

Very well." He jerked his hand away, but the panties came with him. He yanked his hand back and forth, but the lacy, latex material simply stretched with him. "Santo cielo, they are indestructible."

Lara laughed.

He continued to wage battle, but to no avail. "They could use this material to build spaceships.”
