The beauty of any book is to read in it's original native language. Despite of having a sharp quality traslation, some part of connection the author had attempted to accomplish with the readers, gets lost in translation. That's exactly something "soiled clothes" has fallen prey to. Although the book has an interesting storyline yet I didn't enjoy the articulation much. I am sure the Bengali version "Dhulibasan" must be a better read. It's unfortunate that I'll miss out on reading many of the ...more

Sunil Gangopadhyay (Bengali: সুনীল গঙগোপাধযায, 7 September 1934 – 23 October 2012) was a famous Indian poet and novelist. Born in Faridpur, Bangladesh, Gangopadhyay obtained his Master's degree in Bengali from the University of Calcutta, In 1953 he started a Bengali poetry magazine Krittibas. Later he wrote for many different publications.
